It felt like staying at a construction zone and the bathrooms had black mold. They don’t enforce any sort of night time quiet time so people would be out of control at midnight and in the morning huge trucks were moving through so it was loud. Too much traffic, it doesn’t really feel like camping at all. All though the staff was incredibly nice. My family would not stay there again.

Great location outside West Yellowstone. Our camp spot wasn’t the most peaceful nights sleep with road traffic in the back ground and spot we picked might not of been our best option. We chose one of the upgraded spots with the wooden over hang but didn’t realize how close we would be to our neighbors. If looking for peace and quiet don’t pick this spot as you can hear your neighbors snore

Campsite was spacious. Bathroom and showers were clean and had lots of stalls, never had to wait long

Absolutely terrible. The restrooms are cleaned once a day, in the middle of the day when no one is using them. By the time everyone gets back they are absolutely DISGUSTING. There was literal human poop on the floor in the stalls, the showers were covered in dirt. The staff are not welcoming or friendly. Maybe out expectation was too much because we’re from the south but anyone can be kind.

First time we have stayed in a KOA and we were impressed! Grandkids loved the pool and jump pad, the bathrooms were very clean, the whole experience was above our expectations. Please tell your staff what a great job they are doing!!

As far as the KOA and staff, everything was great! This is the 3rd time I've stayed here. My only recommendation would be to carry tent stakes in the store. My husband left ours home by accident.

The campground itself was fantastic, but our site was a 0/10. I would never stay there again. It was less than 100 feet from the highway and the noise was LOUD and CONSTANT all night long- even with earplugs, I couldn’t sleep. It was awful. It was also DIRECTLY beneath a streetlight and was too bright to sleep. Putting tent sites along the highway doesn’t make sense. Site 137 shouldn’t ex

The people again were amazing. All of them are very helpful and go above and beyond to help anyone at the campground. We loved it and we were only about 10 minutes from the west entrance of Yellowstone. Very convenient.

We love this KOA always so kind to help. Asking how wee are doing and always have clean bathrooms. I know thats got to be hard with soo many people. I have young kids and we love thr bounce pad and the park. We love camping and this KOA makes it sooo awesome!

Great campground and fantastic location. Pretty quiet for being off a main highway. The bathrooms and showers were clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and it was awesome to have a high quality playground and a nice pool as well! Our site had a bunch of ground squirrel burrows which made placing the tent a little tricky, but our kiddo loved watching the squirrels.

Convenient location, facilities in good shape. Appreciate that they were able to move me to a tent site since I dry camp when I extended my stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Wonderful staff. All very kind and informative. Bathrooms were upkept nicely. Store was very cute. Only thing I wish was there was more staff around in the evening to deal with loud camp sites that were making a lot of noise until 1am. Called the number for after hours and no one answered unfortunately. It’s a part of camping I suppose noise after hours. Would come back again and recommend

It was great really. My daughter and I and our pup were very comfortable in our assigned area. The bathroom was clean and the separate shower rooms are great.

Would not recommend staying in the tent village. Right by the road and heard traffic all night long. Plus campsites are very close together. No ptivacy.

In the website pictures it showed and said nice grassy tent sites. They were not, it was hard packed dirt. Also stated that they were right next to a bathroom and a camp kitchen. They were not. The only bathroom was connected to the office which was a good 130 yards away. It was a busy place and never saw the bathroom and shower area cleaned.

We were just a short weekend stay. Great campground with new/clean shower house and bathrooms, super fun play area for kids, very friendly staff and so close to West Yellowstone and the west entrance. Would stay again.

Everything was great, except for the women's bathroom by our campsite. The showers needed to be cleaned and disinfected. I learned afterwards that it was the campers responsibility to clean, apparently. But, I don't bring cleaning supplies with me camping. Would have been nice to take a shower and not be afraid of getting a fungal infection.

The campground was very nice. The tent village is definitely one of the best we’ve experienced. However, the prices at the camp store were ridiculously high, easily double the surrounding area and, at times, 3 times the cost of other KOAs in the area. The campground is large; however, smaller KOAs had more bathrooms. At times, it felt like you waited in an assembly line to use the bathroom.

Very nice campground in a perfect location for Yellowstone National Park. The people at the front desk are very helpful and friendly. The only issues I had were that the bathrooms, particularly, the family one by the registration building were not very clean. The 2 nights my family stayed it was not cleaned. That and the almost $13 for a bundle of firewood is a bit ridiculous.

Our first time to Yellowstone and also we are new members if KOA. Our stay was so nice, you helped two middle aged , tent campers, feel comfortable. We liked having real bathrooms, showers and the pool house were Clean and kept up. We will stay at a different one next time to see a different side of the park but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is the 4th KOA that we stayed at in 3 states. It was the most welcoming and cleanest of them all. I would recommend this KOA to friends.

We came from Seattle WA , staff if friendly but when we went to the pool it was cloudy and slimy and slippery bathrooms where moldy and dirty in the main shower area the AdA shower head was broken and it there was hair in the drain and mold every where the toilets and garbage cans in the stalls were never cleaned in the 4 day stay we were there

Very happy with our stay. Our campsite was right next to bathrooms which were clean, always stocked with toilet paper, and had hot running water. The employees I interacted with were very friendly and helpful.

I sent an email regarding how dissatisfied I was due to the 10 people and tents that set up around midnight on the single tent sight next to me. I have not received any response to that.

ALL bathroom and shower facilities are awful, dirty and gross - tiolet that doesn't flush, a clogged sink, mold and hair in every shower; no paper towels so that people can wipe down the counter - so it was always soapy and wet.. and hairy. The staff drive golf carts through the property at 6 AM causing dust clouds and noise: one was a gas engine that smoked and smelled.

My family and I stayed here last week during our visit to Yellowstone (: it was great. Everyone was super kind and helpful. The general store has almost everything you could potentially forget and need during your stay lol. Very convenient. I will definitely stay here during our next visit in 2026. Thanks guys!

Staying here was such a great experience. So many kids for my little one to be around. Kathy's service was 100% she made every thing so much better. Have local advice on Yellowstone and the good stops, accommodation with my last minute plans and all with a smile!

Original post July 2020: Great experience at West Gate KOA! My family and I didn't want to leave. After a reservation debacle at Madison Arms, we were able to get 2 sites to accommodate our large tents only 2 weeks before arrival. Grant who took my reservation was great! Also said that if we only need 1 they would cancel the other with full refunds. Really everyone was great. My only con would be the bathrooms by the cabins. Should do more spot cleaning in there. People are so messy. Update: June 2026. Stayed again and had a wonderful time. Management is working had on updates that have made this place better. Very happy.
