Every Second Saturday of the month, wine lovers visit Mustang Mall in Sunizona (Hwy 191 & Hwy 181) about 45 minutes from Willcox for free tastes of local wines from 1-4pm. This outpost in the heart of Cochise County offers a wide variety of local wines in its "Cochise Corner" wine shop (many from wineries with no tasting rooms open to the public), along with gas, groceries, & tack.
A 2-day celebration of Doc Holliday, one of the most famous gunfighters in the Old West! This year the event welcomes actor Michael Biehn, who memorably played Doc's nemesis Johnny Ringo in the movie "Tombstone". Other activities include a parade, trivia & look-alike contests, plus a meet-and-greet with Michael Biehn.
Wine, food, winemaker tours, games, & more at this beautiful vineyard + winery in the foothills of the Chiricahua Mountains. This is a once-a-year event to welcome visitors to this vineyard for photos & tours right before the grape harvest begins. Tickets are $25/person - purchase in advance using the Facebook event page and link to Eventbrite. Located about 45 miles from our KOA campground along a beautiful scenic highway.
Take a hands-on learning journey through the world of arthropods, led by Dr. Kathleen Walker from the University of Arizona. There will be a variety of live animals to view and handle & lights will be used to attract wild insects. You can even join a ranger for a scorpion walk! Meet at the outdoor amphitheater at 7pm. Bring a flashlight, a blacklight if you wish, and dress for the weather. Cost is $7/vehicle.
Join the fun! Registration is now open for the 7th Annual Willcox Flyer Bike Ride. The event starts at 7am on Saturday, August 31st in Historic Railroad Park in the heart of downtown Willcox. Riders can choose from the 33 or 66 mile (out & back) course or an 8-mile fun ride. Stick around after the race for live music, food & family fun downtown. All proceeds from the event benefit "Small Town, Big Dreams" which supports education for students in Willcox.
