Every Second Saturday of the month, wine lovers visit Mustang Mall in Sunizona (Hwy 191 & Hwy 181) about 45 minutes from Willcox for free tastes of local wines from 1-4pm. This outpost in the heart of Cochise County offers a wide variety of local wines in its "Cochise Corner" wine shop (many from wineries with no tasting rooms open to the public), along with gas, groceries, & tack.
One of Tucson's largest events each year, the Gem Show happens in multiple locations throughout downtown & central Tucson and attracts visitors from all over the world. Most shows are open to the public with free admission. Treasure hunters will find a wide variety of jewelry, jewelry-making supplies, gems, minerals, collectibles, fossils, & more. Tucson is just a little over a one-hour drive on I-10 from our campground in Willcox.
Join the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association at the incredible Chiricahua National Monument to view amazing solar system and deep sky objects. You will see planets, nebulae, star clusters, double stars, and lots more. They will have several telescopes for public viewing. Observing location is either Echo Canyon or Faraway Ranch and will be updated as the date draws closer. A talk is scheduled before observing at Bonita Campground Amphitheater at 6:30 pm with observing from 7:30 – 9:30 pm.
Enjoy a fun 2-day wine festival in historic downtown Willcox, AZ! This popular event also includes local foods, vendors, live music & more. Join the fun! Registration is now open for the 8th Annual Willcox Flyer Bike Ride. The event starts at 7am on Saturday, September 5th in Historic Railroad Park in the heart of downtown Willcox. Riders can choose from the 33 or 66 mile (out & back) course or an 8-mile fun ride. Stick around after the race for live music, food & family fun downtown. All proceeds from the event benefit "Small Town, Big Dreams" which supports education for students in Willcox.
