Tent Reviews

We showed up after check in. They had our envelope waiting for us! We went to our assigned spot surrounded by construction. Sent text to after hours line- never got a response asking to move to an area not so rocky. We made it work. First KOA I’ve been to without a code on bathroom. The man in the store was very nice. probably would not stay here again. Cost more than a hotel room for a tent sp

chose this KOA over Amarillo and Santa Fe specifically because the website mentioned breakfast and fresh hot cookies, and unfortunately neither was available during our stay. That was really disappointing since those amenities were a big part of why we booked here. The pool was also closed for ‘winter,’ even though it was mid-May. The game room was underwhelming, but had a working television.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed a few days and returned on our way back home. The campground was conveniently located to the interstate. The store was welled stocked and had great souvenirs to purchase.

This particular KOA was not of the same caliber as a few of the others that I have stayed at. The beacon of a light over by the bathroom show through the windows of my camper no matter what I did to black it out. Bathrooms were very clean and nice. The campground was clean, but very old staff was very nice.

We stayed in a tent site. The good thing about that is that we were able to go to sleep without bright lights. The bad thing is there was no working light outside the bathrooms and where we were placed the walk was a pretty good distance and there was no light to direct us to the bathrooms.

Tent camped in tent site. Ground was a bit uneven in the tent area. Tent site had a shelter and table. Site markings were a bit hard to find a see. Rear bath house was a bit run down, though clean, with many fixtures leaking.

The morning breakfast delivery option is tasty! Large facility near highway. Suggest polyester, machine washable bathroom shower liners. Retro, rustic facility with classic broken-tile mosaic floors in bathrooms.

I made a reservation for tent camping, and there was plenty of spaces for tents. Not so many vacancies for RV’s though. There was a bathroom and shower. And free water. The grass is very short, so a sleeping pad helps provide cushion from the hard ground. And they are pet friendly too!

We arrived and the front desk girl was very inviting very informative and polite we very easily found our way to our camp spot and set up unfortunately we encountered some bad weather and we had to leave. Thankfully when I spoke to John about the weather issue we encountered he was very nice and generous to refund us for our night stay I felt very cared for and appreciated thank you tucumcariKoa

It was a pleasant stay on my long road trip back home. Showers and bathrooms were well kept and clean. I would like to see healthier trees, I know its the desert and water is scarce but, I think it is worth it for healthier looking trees :) Thanks!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you very much for the feedback and staying with us. When we recently took over the park the trees were very uncared for and untrimmed. The first thing we did was hire a contractor to trim 125 trees to help their health. We will look to add others as well. We look forward to your next visit - J

After fleeing a wildfire at our original campsite in nearby Texas, we ended up getting last minute tent sites for our ‘cousin camp'. Because of the fierce wind, I deeply appreciated that the tent sites were sheltered. Bathrooms were clean. The vintage playground was a HUGE hit with all 9 kids - even the teenager :) The staff gave us free cookies when we arrived and when we left, showed me a fire-safe route to take to next my destination. After a very scary experience, I almost cried at their kindness. 10/10 recommend!
