I-40 Eastbound: Exit 335, right at stop sign, left at next stop sign, 1/2 mile on right.
I-40 Westbound: Exit 335 keep left, left at stop sign, go under I-40, then left at next stop sign, 1/2 mile on right.
54 SW: Turn left at first stoplight Tucumcari Blvd (RT 66) , 2 miles go under I-40, left at stop sign, 1/2 mile on right.

On April 28th, 2022 the Simoneau Family purchased this beautiful campground from the Lewis family. We appreciate the excellent job that Lane, Dylan, and Cindy Lewis have done upgrading the campground and treating their guests to friendly service and a safe enviroment.Our family owned and operated the Placerville KOA in California for the last 29 years. In October we sold the property (though Jay continues to be the GM) and began seeking out our next adventure. We decided the this campground was perfect for us and we purchased the park. We were so excited to own a campground on Historic Route 66 that we officially changed the name to Tucumcari / Route 66 KOA Journey to encompass our new vision! While historically this is an overnight campground for travelers, we come from a more destination styled campground that host families for multiple nights while they enjoy the local area. In fact, hosting families is our specialty which is why we've won all of KOA and Trip Advisors highest coveted awards the last several years. Our families ultimate goal is to improve the KOA into a modern Route 66 family camping experience that you will tell all your friends and family about. We hope our campers will stay for more then one night to enjoy all the amazing local attractions that Tucumcari has to offer such as the Route 66 Museum, the Mesalands Community College's Dinosaur Museum, the Tucumcari Route 66 Murals, and of course the classic diners like Kix on 66 that our Historic Route offers. Don't forget to take some photos of the classic Route 66 motels!
