Campground Reviews

What an awesome stay! The park is clean & well kept. I HIGHLY recommend the on-site Cowboy Cookout Cafe' for dinner. The Petrified Toast is AMAZING! The gift shop was nice and had convenience items. One drawback was campers packed tightly together with most of the park empty. Spend the extra $15 for a larger space if you want privacy and have pups. Check out the 200,000,000yr old petrified tree!

This location has made a lot of improvements since our first stay there about 14 months ago. Please continue to add shade wherever possible- since most travel trailers and 5th wheels get very hot on long pulls on I-40, having shade to help one's coach cool down would make this location much more attractive in the summer months.

Been here a few times, location is along our path. Owner is very nice and sites are clean, level and easy in and out.

No lighting by bathrooms, fell twice at night ! Need out side light! Spots were good, everything clean! Pool closes to early , checked in at 6 and pool was closed but said 7! It was so hot everyone there would have loved to get in pool!

Unfortunately we were there when it was very hot and there is minimal to no shade. The dog pen is extremely small.

$88 per night (WAS going to be $123 per night) as a layover is simply unacceptable!!! We will never spend another dollar there. We could get a motel for around that price in Tucumcari and be more comfortable. There are too many tolerable pull-thru's for less than that. Sorry to be blunt but that is what you asked for. YEAH, this post will be shown on your website. RIGHT!

friendly checkin but lack luster campsites for the price

Very friendly staff. The facilities were gross and not clean at all. The pool was refreshing, small but adequate. There was nothing around this KOA, good enough for a one night quick stop. Likely would choose somewhere else next time. Campground not well maintained.

We ran into some engine problems for our motorhome (fuel filter) and we had to take it to a shop and leave it there for repairs. We were traveling with two cats, so that complicated things a bit, but the helpful KOA staff helped us find pet-friendly lodging nearby at a very reasonable cost. Thank you!!

Reserved at this campground specifically because there was a pool, and it was a sweltering hot day and we have 2 kids that needed to burn some energy after a long day’s drive. We arrived at 6:58 to find that the pool was closing at 7pm. That seems unreasonably early to me, but if that’s the best you can do, then the pool hours should be easy to find on the website. I was unable to find them at

We were parked at the backside of the park with NO internet! It is advertised with internet but the girl at the desk, who seemed bothered by us walking in, was quick to say that we would not be able to connect to the internet.

Good spot for an overnight stay. Surprisingly quite despite the interstate. Very pleased with that.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cookies were a special treat and a surprise. Our site was spacious with green grass. We loved it.

Great! No complaints.

Perfect overnight stay for us! We stayed in one of the new sites. The RV park was easy to access off the highway, quiet and the grounds were well maintained. We did not need to use any of the bath/laundry facilities. The welcome cookies were such a nice treat!

The 5 on the first score (about recommending) is NOT a reflection on your campground. I just don't give recommendations. Otherwise it was very nice, though we were only there overnight.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The shower pressure was amazing.

Easy to access from major highway, this KOA has clean restrooms and welcoming staff.

Short overnight stop. Decent facilities. Restroom/shower very good and clean. Pool, small with minimum lounge chairs (2). Too hot for spa use.

Great stop on the way. Journey’s are great 1 night stop on the road, cheaper than hotels and this one has a nice clean pool the kids enjoyed very much, and the cabin was very clean. The cabin AC is off when you arrive so being in NM it is very hot in the cabin and takes a while to cool off. Keep that in mind but our stay was great otherwise. Facilities are older but kept clean. The view is nice.

All sites facing each other. Need to share small piece of land since face to face. Also called buddy buddy sites. Picnic tables very close to each others. We are in 2026 … there is no WiFi.

This KOA is well maintained & provides a great place to stop on our drive to CA each year. We love the paved, level sites at the back of the park, although there are no trees/shade. However, other sites have great trees & the tent camping sites have "lean-to" structures for shade & wind protection. PLEASE make a larger dog run in the back out of the tent areas that are rarely used.

nice facility

For a traveler with pets or children, this is a terrible rv park. The grass areas are not treated for sticker burrs. Our dogs had a terrible time walking around so going out to pea was challenging. They were even growing around the hook ups so I got several in my hands when dumping.

Everything was great! We had a lot of laundry that needed to be done, and we were able to us the 24 hr laundry—-get your quarters if you need to do this after office hours!

Just a quick one night stay on our way home. Easy to get too and had all we needed.

Really need to do something about the ants in the campsites.
Jul 10, 2026
Overnight stay, large sites good mix of trees and grass.
Jul 10, 2026
Very uncharacteristic of a KOA. Needed mowing. Assigned a spot in grassy area no gravel or even real pad. Restrooms very warm. Very overpriced for amenities.

Owner was amazing and the park was very nice. Well stay here again

Level sites. Our only issue was they parked a big diesel truck right next to us (3 feet away). Was very unpleasant the next morning when he sat there and idled for 30 minutes filling our camper with diesel fumes. Campground was 50 percent empty so we don’t understand why they would park them so close to anyone.

John was in the office was super nice! He's from Tonawanda near Buffalo and is a Bills fan, too!!! He used to have the KOA in Placerville, CA, and we stayed there for several months as RN's in 2001. We had a great stay for 2 nights here and rested up on our journey to Savannah, GA.

This is a very nice campgrounds, close to I 40. Has a nice little store, they gave me my welcome paper and 2 chocolate chip cookies 🥳😋 There's playground equipment, pool, shaded picnic table area and lots of walkin space. I use KOA for my turn n burns across country.
