[b]EXIT 131: [/b]Use exit 131, Head East on State Route 37. Make a LEFT at the first traffic light onto Wilson Rd. You will stay on Wilson Rd. all the way until you see our KOA sign to turn right onto Porter Central Rd. You will pass over the round-about over State Route 61.
We are situated BETWEEN I-71 exits 131 & 140, approximately 8.5 miles off the interstate.
SPECIAL TRAVEL NOTES: GPS will instruct you to take Chambers Road if you're coming from the North, headed South, which has a COVERED BRIDGE with a height limit of 8' 10". To avoid this bridge, go past Chambers and turn left onto 521, left onto 656, and then right onto Porter Central Rd.
The All American Quarter Horse Congress is a great destination for horse lovers. This event spans three weeks at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. The Congress is a top destination for horse riders between September and October.
This equestrian event is a great Ohio tourist destination. It includes a myriad of activities throughout the event's entire duration. If you bring your family, you can be sure there will be something to enjoy. When you come to the event, you can enjoy watching riders of all ages show off their skills on a horse. The show includes everything from youth events to Heroes on Horses, which is an event specifically for veterans.
The Congress includes many practices traditional to western riding. You can watch activities like calf roping, tie-down roping, pole bending, trail riding and reining. You can catch horse racing and mounted shooting as well.
The event also hosts over 250 commercial exhibit spaces selling show clothing, tack and towing vehicles, jewelry, furniture and more, so while you are taking a break from watching shows, you can do some browsing.
The All American Quarter Horse Congress features a single breed of horse, the quarterhorse. This horse is a small, stocky breed known for its sprinting speed over short distances. The Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) hosts this event devoted to a single breed to encourage the breeding and competition of quarterhorses. The show typically includes over 25,000 horse entries.
The Ohio Quarter Horse Association was established in 1951 to educate about the quarterhorse breed. It began by sponsoring shows and classes. These OQHA events have long been some of the most famous quarterhorse events in the country. Because of this, the association decided to host its first All American Quarter Horse Congress in 1967 at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio.
The event began as a short three-day occurrence but enjoyed great popularity, which led organizers to expand the event. Today, the event runs for three weeks.
