DEC designates several dates throughout the year as free fishing days, which allows anyone to recreationally fish without a freshwater fishing license in New York State! Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2025 are designated free fishing days. This offers the perfect opportunity to try out fishing for the first time, for getting back into the sport after taking a break, or for taking a friend or the whole family along to fish!

The Neighborhood Association of Sodus Point welcomes you to the Oscar Fuerst Baseball Field for a TOTALLY FREE concert every Tuesday night throughout July and August, (weather permitting) from 6pm to 8pm. Grab takeout from one of local restaurants and relax whilst listening to some great musicians!
Don't forget your lawn chair!

Line up at the Sodus Point Community Center and Fire Hall in your finest Fourth of July attire to parade through the village! This event is RAIN OR SHINE.NASP also asks that if you are bringing your golf carts that the drivers be 18+ and they follow all the rules and regulations for legal road safe gold carts. Dogs are also welcome and encouraged!Water and popsicles will be available FOR FREE.

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse is hosting their annual Independence Day 5K. Check out the fantastic traditional course starting at the Lighthouse, through the village of Sodus Point, out to the beach and finishing at the Lighthouse.

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse will be hosting its concert series on the lawn again this year!! All concerts on Sundays take place at 2pm and the Friday concert takes place at 6pm and they are totally FREE!

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse invites you to the Sodus Point Village Hall for their first storytelling event of the season! We are joined by Tom Sawtelle who will be telling everyone about the history of Fur Trading in Sodus Bay.

Learn Sodus Bay's Rich Fishing History. Local historian and retired commercial fishermen, Chris Arney joins us to discuss the rich history of fishing on Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario. NY SeaGrant's Stacy Furgal updates us on the health of Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario fish populations, plus the latest on hatcheries & spawning areas. NY SeaGrant's Stacy Furgal outlines the history of invasive species on Sodus Bay and how you can prevent them.

Paws at the Point is back for their second year in Sodus Point. Oscar Fuerst Baseball Field will be filled with craft vendors, food, and raffles to support the Cat Rescue of Wolcott.

July 12th Speaker and shipwreck explorer Jim Kennard will be speaking from 1-3pm at the Community Center.
July 13th Chip Stevens, Shipwreck Painter, will be at the Sodus Bay Lighthouse from 1-3pm.

Wayne County Fair History:  In the fall of 1849, some citizens of Palmyra, New York decided to hold a horse racing competition and display of agricultural products for their area and surrounding towns in Hathaway's grove. Little is written about what took place after that first fair until 1856. On April 13, 1856, seventeen men organized themselves as The Union Agricultural Society at Palmyra and filed corporation papers; they held a three-day fair in October that year. The original 18 plus acres on Jackson Street, at that time on the southern outskirts of the village of Palmyra, was leased to hold the annual fair. In 1863, The Union Agricultural Society at Palmyra purchased it for $6,000. Today's assessed value of the property is over $1,000,000.  As other “Fairs” of the time and area came and went, the “Palmyra Fair” flourished, adding new buildings from profits year to year. The Fair Building, known today as Floral Hall, was erected in 1856 and still is used today; many repairs & modifications have been made over the years, but Floral Hall is the only building still remaining since that time. 1875 fair records show a plus balance of $211.93.

Why is Prom Just for Teens?Well, not anymore!  Life is too short so The Purple Painted Lady is hosting her third annual ADULT PROM on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 from 6 - 10pm at her gorgeous barn called Fig Hollow. This ain't your teens prom! Come wearing vintage prom attire, or pair a vintage rock shirt with a ballroom skirt and sparkly Converse sneakers. Avant garde, gem stones, .....pretty much anything goes!
