Port Lavaca / Matagorda Bay KOA Holiday Reviews

We were in Site# 300. The check in was at 1pm and Check out is at 11am. We had Full hook- up with a gravel/pull-through. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. Our site was not shaded and was without trees. This was a larger sized lot with our neighbors not too close. (The best lot with tons of shade is site #233). Our lot came with a concrete patio with table & 4 chairs, two Adirondack chairs, and fire ring. There is free WiFi. They do not offer Cable TV. They have a community Outdoor grill. They also have a community fire pit. They sell wood for $8 a bundle. They pickup your garbage at your site daily. You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground. They do have a heated swimming pool and hot tub. They do have kayaks/paddle boards/pedal bikes for rent. There is a Playground. They also offer shuffleboard, basketball sport court, horseshoe, and volleyball courts. They have a great general store. There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There is a Game room for kids. There is a snack bar on site that offers pizza and wings. The streets are gravel so not great for bikes. They have cabins for rent and a Yurt. They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept clean. There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine ($1 & $5 bills only). There are approximately 3 washers and 6 dryers. It is approximately $2.75 to wash and $2 to dry a load. They have a small fenced in dog park. Flies were a major issue and bug spray was definitely needed. There were no trails to hike in the campground.

Decent spot for a stop over we were only here for the night, but bathrooms are clean and fresh and laundry. Lots of things to do. The pizza and the wings were super easy and affordable. Definitely not top-notch gourmet cuisine but very good to not have to cook. We were in the very first site as you come in and they were a lot of ant nests so we had to watch the dog pretty carefully.
