Meet Your Hosts

The Olendorf/Mason Family

We treat everyone with respect and strive to deliver a product that pleases our campers and serves their needs.”

Bill and Barbara Olendorf purchased the lovely Point South campground in 1983 and have been adding to its beauty and fun ever since.  Partner of 30-plus years, Jennifer Olendorf Mason, continues the tradition making the team and experience come full circle.

"We treat everyone with respect and strive to deliver a product that pleases our campers and serves their needs," says Bill, Barbara and Jennifer.

Before becoming campground owners, Bill spent 20 years in Chicago as a television advertising sales executive and Barbara kept busy as a stay-at-home mom, with a grown son and raising two daughters. Jennifer has worked throughout the last 30 years at Point South KOA as well as in real estate while enjoying being the mom of three sons.

"We were ready for a change! Bill was particularly interested in working for himself and we both had grown tired of winters in the North," said the Olendorfs. They loved to camp, so they investigated the campground field. Seeing the Point South campground in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, with its mild winters, natural beauty and rich history sealed the deal.

Enjoyable and unique amenities have been added to the campground during the 34 years of ownership, including a real L&N Caboose and Charleston Trolley converted into unique cabin experiences. The Swimming Mermaid Coffee House features a full-line menu of local, custom roast coffees, as well as many mini-gardens planted throughout the park.  Also provided is pizza for their campers' enjoyment right at their campsites!  The latest addition includes the Wine Bar with nightly wine tastings featuring nine regional wineries plus two local beers on tap with our own Aria's Ale.  Enjoy wine selections of reds, whites and/or fruits, by the tasting, glass or purchase a bottle to take home as a gift or souvenir.

Bill spends his spare time as an amateur radio operator, with call sign K4KOA. He is a Civil War expert and loves to sail. Barbara enjoys reading and computerized genealogy. Together, they enjoy their family and attend Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.  Jennifer loves to travel, read and spend time with family and friends.
