Campground Reviews

The pool not having a heater and pool cover was a major disatisfier as the water was too cold to swim. The free snacks and coffee were appreciated and the little library.

One night stay to rest before our last day of driving. Very quiet and nice campground.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Picacho/Tucson NW KOA. There was a concrete patio with nice furniture and a table with umbrella. We had a site with a paw pen for our 3 dogs that travel with us. It gave them a place to get outside off leash by the trailer. The dog park was large and clean. The wooden partitions really added to the privacy. Ryan and family were very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our cozy cabin! Linens were provided! It was also very clean. I loved the rainfall shower; it was a wonderful hot shower! They also have an abundant game room!

We stopped here for one night and loved that we were able to get a spot with the private dog pen as we have two large fur babies. This allowed them to stretch and be on their own for a little while. The camp ground was very clean, including the restroom. I have to say that showers had the best pressure ever!

Campground is clean and well kept. Main issue is the constant Interstate 10 noise, punctuated regularly by freight trains. Secondary issue is the requirement for a restroom key code. Not sure why this is needed but I found it annoying at 3AM. Noise is no fault of the facility, just a factor with its location. Disclaimer - I was tent camping.

Great stay. Very friendly, easy check in, clean. The only hesitation for a 5 star rating is the noise from the freeway traffic and trains. (Which obviously is not under their control) everything else was excellent.

This is what a KOA Park should be like! Felicia and her team go over and above to give you a great stay!! The grounds are meticulous and pride of ownership is evident! Keep up the good work maybe we will see you next winter!

Noise pollution is the only issue with the location. We have stayed here previously without problem, but this time we noticed the highway noise and the train noise was much worse than previous stay. Seems the pecan grove was cut down on the other side of the highway which no longer acts as a sound barrier. Camp sites are well maintained and staff is very helpful and nice.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear you enjoyed our well-maintained sites and friendly staff. However we wish we had total control over the nearby highway and train noise, we appricate you sharing your experience and hope to see you in the furure.

Needed a place to recharge for a few days but wanted to avoid the cost and crowded campgrounds of Tucson itself. This more out of the way campground is clean, well-maintained, with nice bathrooms and showers, small well-equipped camp store. Audra is friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Freeway is close but not too loud. Nearby town has a few good Mexican restaurants.

We only stayed one night on our way back east and it was adequate for our needs. The campground was clean they were able to accommodate our need to stay connected to our trailer which was super helpful. The staff were very nice and helpful. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because with it being so close to the highway, it was very noisy. We could also hear a train going by.

Well maintained and a clean stop. We were able to do laundry and rest before taking off in the early am. Host and family were great. Very well maintained and the diog park is large.

This KOA definitely met and exceeded our expectations. Easy off I-10 (make sure to use exit 211). Grounds were very nice, owners are meticulous about keeping the sites and landscaping in top shape. Also the owners were excellent in taking care of us, directing us to our site. Would definitely stay here in the future.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, we felt very comfortable. We originally planned a 3 day stay, but, extended an extra day. The bathrooms were fantastic, the cleanest and very well maintained, didn’t want to get out of the shower. The most important part were the RV pads, they were very level with minimal setup. We will definitely be back!! Great job.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Friendly staff, clean property, and well maintained dog park. The store has anything you need and there’s even a rec room with a TV, movies, and games. Showers were super clean and the water got nice and warm. The night was quiet. Great stay.

Wonderful stop on our adventure. Nice laundry, super nice staff and close enough to Coolidge, AZ to get essentials plus an awesome visit to Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. We'll stay again if we're in the area! :) Thanks!!

Good place to stay to visit the local area like picacho state park or the casa grande ruins. The roads in the campground get pretty dusty so slow speed is a must. The size of the paw pens is a little small to be useful.

A very nice KOA located west of Tucson, Arizona and east of the I-10 and I-8 intersection near Casa Grande. Very close to Pacacho Peak mountain trails. Swimming pool is heated, very large room inside with seating, TV, games and book exchange. The host and owner was very friendly and accommodating. A very nice young man led us to our RV spot and made sure we had everything we needed. Level gravel sites and nice large lots. Very will priced! Also private RV spots with decks and fencing. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you for welcoming us.

After several days at Picacho Peak State Park without full hookups, arriving at Picacho / Tucson NW KOA Journey felt like the kind of reset you do not fully appreciate until you need it. We arrived a bit early while the office was closed for lunch, but the large parking area out front made it easy to pull in, park, and have lunch without any stress. Once they reopened, check-in was smooth, everyone was friendly, and being escorted to our site was a great first impression. Our site was a large pull-through with full hookups (everything worked flawlessly), and even though you do not choose your own site, we ended up in one we likely would have picked ourselves. Site 69 was under a huge willow tree with a wide view over nearby farmland, and watching cows and horses grazing gave the whole stay a calm, open feel right away. The willow tree also provided real shade, which made a noticeable difference during the day. The biggest shift for us was how easy everything felt. After being without water and sewer, having full hookups again made this stop feel less like a pass through and more like a place to actually settle in and recharge. The gravel roads and gravel sites were straightforward to navigate, and the park felt very big-rig friendly with plenty of room to maneuver. Sites are well spaced and easy to pull into, with a layout that feels open rather than tight. It was also noticeably quiet. Despite being close to I-10, it felt surprisingly peaceful, especially at night, and with very few people around us it was easy to relax after more active stops earlier in the trip. From a family perspective, this KOA works really well. There is a playground, a dog park, and a large jellybean-shaped pool that gave the kids space to play and unwind. The rules for children were clear and reasonable, like staying with an adult and no playing after sunset, which helped keep the environment safe without feeling restrictive. One of the most memorable details was their “follow the rules, get a cookie” system. On our way out, our boys ran into the office to let them know they had followed the rules and came back out with cookies in hand. It was such a simple idea, but it made the experience feel personal and stuck with them more than anything else. We also had a bundle of firewood delivered right to our site, which was convenient and added to the overall ease of the stay. Overall, this is a great example of a stop that does more than just meet basic needs. It is practical, quiet, and well run, but also has enough thoughtful touches to make it feel welcoming and memorable. It works well for both a quick overnight stop or a few days to reset. If you are traveling through this part of Arizona and want a place where you can recharge, enjoy the stop, and feel genuinely welcomed, this is absolutely worth it.
