Campground Reviews

Staying at Picacho KOA was a pleasure. We chose it due to it's central location to Picacho Peak, and Casa Grande Ruins. We had a very relaxing time, the campground has old-time charm and atmosphere. We especially loved watching the horses at the ranch next door, birds and trees, and the beautiful sunsets and starry nights! Thank you Picacho KOA!

Very relaxing stay. Was wonderful to see and hear the horses every morning and evening that were across from our site at a horse farm across the way. The staff was very friendly and made sure the campground was wonderful. Very quiet and relaxing!

We stayed in site 72, very roomy 36' motor home. Very nice staff. Clean premises, and easy on off the highway. We will stay here again if we are driving through the area.

Rude employees. Worst KOA i’ve ever been to

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Smoking marijuana is expressly prohibited here. If one of us smells you smoking it, we will tell you to leave as politely as possible. We may involve the sheriff, who will cite you. In AZ it is illegal to smoke in public spaces, including vehicles, or on private property without owner's permission.

The individual at the front desk was amazing, we were running a little late for check in and she stayed until we got there.....Thank You!!! The only minor issue was getting use to the noise from the highway and trains, but after two nights we got use to the noise.

We've stayed at a lot of KOAs and this was one of the best! We stayed for 2 nights on our way from S Arizona to N Arizona. The sites are level, clean and we had one with a very nice patio and nice patio furniture. We used the laundry facilities, which were very well kept! The people here are very nice and helpful! Only con is that there are a lot of trains at night.

Very friendly hosts and nice spot. The place is pretty well taken care of and someone is always around. Not many activities for kids and the heated pool was out of commission.

Very nice place to stay!

Staff is fantastic as always. Great service, even delivered my propane. A few cigarette butts in my site but park is mostly clean. Showers are nice. Looks like new rainfall shower heads. But the shower wands are over 6.5 feet up, making them hard to reach for my wife. Always a great overnight stop for housekeeping.

This KOA is very clean & the people are very friendly. It has a great playground for kids and toys in the clubhouse. Great place to bring kids. The only downside to this campground is that there is an active train track that runs throughout the night. I did not hear any horns or whistles, just the white noise of it going by on the track. Hubby had trouble sleeping. Kids & I slept fine.

Very friendly staff. The firewood they sell is the best I’ve ever purchased. This KOA is very clean and organized. The showers are great, nice water pressure and an amazing shower head. Thank you very much for the courteous, relaxing and professional atmosphere. We will be returning for our future getaway.

In years of camping this is the best KOA campground by far. They staff made us feel truly at home and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The parking site was the largest and easiest to get into and out of that we have ever encountered. Really big rig friendly. Thank you. We will come again.

Very clean and nice park. Was close to Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch, Casa Grande Ruins and Picacho Peak State Park. We also did a short drive to see Biosphere II in Oracle. Park staff very friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.

Check in was very nice. Ryan met us upon arrival even though it was after hours. A homeless man and his barking dog ended up staying 3 feet from our RV on the ground and bothered me for the bathroom code on my way to the trash dumpster. He kept wandering around the campground casing out others’ rigs and possessions. The staff did not seem bothered by it when I complained.

Park was well cared for and spacious lots. While wrapping up the hookups, In our neighbors spot was a couple telling us about their trip and had an hours worth of discussion about Williams, how to get to the grand canyon and its snow issues, flagstaff parking, restaurants etc. This put us after 11am. in Williams where we have a house. I ran across the manager at the toilets, just fter our convers

Good place to stay to visit the local area like picacho state park or the casa grande ruins. The roads in the campground get pretty dusty so slow speed is a must. The size of the paw pens is a little small to be useful.

A very nice KOA located west of Tucson, Arizona and east of the I-10 and I-8 intersection near Casa Grande. Very close to Pacacho Peak mountain trails. Swimming pool is heated, very large room inside with seating, TV, games and book exchange. The host and owner was very friendly and accommodating. A very nice young man led us to our RV spot and made sure we had everything we needed. Level gravel sites and nice large lots. Very will priced! Also private RV spots with decks and fencing. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you for welcoming us.

After several days at Picacho Peak State Park without full hookups, arriving at Picacho / Tucson NW KOA Journey felt like the kind of reset you do not fully appreciate until you need it. We arrived a bit early while the office was closed for lunch, but the large parking area out front made it easy to pull in, park, and have lunch without any stress. Once they reopened, check-in was smooth, everyone was friendly, and being escorted to our site was a great first impression. Our site was a large pull-through with full hookups (everything worked flawlessly), and even though you do not choose your own site, we ended up in one we likely would have picked ourselves. Site 69 was under a huge willow tree with a wide view over nearby farmland, and watching cows and horses grazing gave the whole stay a calm, open feel right away. The willow tree also provided real shade, which made a noticeable difference during the day. The biggest shift for us was how easy everything felt. After being without water and sewer, having full hookups again made this stop feel less like a pass through and more like a place to actually settle in and recharge. The gravel roads and gravel sites were straightforward to navigate, and the park felt very big-rig friendly with plenty of room to maneuver. Sites are well spaced and easy to pull into, with a layout that feels open rather than tight. It was also noticeably quiet. Despite being close to I-10, it felt surprisingly peaceful, especially at night, and with very few people around us it was easy to relax after more active stops earlier in the trip. From a family perspective, this KOA works really well. There is a playground, a dog park, and a large jellybean-shaped pool that gave the kids space to play and unwind. The rules for children were clear and reasonable, like staying with an adult and no playing after sunset, which helped keep the environment safe without feeling restrictive. One of the most memorable details was their “follow the rules, get a cookie” system. On our way out, our boys ran into the office to let them know they had followed the rules and came back out with cookies in hand. It was such a simple idea, but it made the experience feel personal and stuck with them more than anything else. We also had a bundle of firewood delivered right to our site, which was convenient and added to the overall ease of the stay. Overall, this is a great example of a stop that does more than just meet basic needs. It is practical, quiet, and well run, but also has enough thoughtful touches to make it feel welcoming and memorable. It works well for both a quick overnight stop or a few days to reset. If you are traveling through this part of Arizona and want a place where you can recharge, enjoy the stop, and feel genuinely welcomed, this is absolutely worth it.
