Good, as usual.

We stay at KOA’s almost every time we are not dry camping. Why? Never a bad experience. Always operated by genuine people. No matter what level of KOA facilities they are always well kept. Regarding our recent stay at the Picacho/Tucson NW…the management were outstanding and their pride showed in the care they take.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you, Mr. Thomas! Your review is heartwarming and motivation to keep it up!

Just camping to venture out and enjoy the history and culture. Only problem was the train noise

very bad. no body answers the phone. nobody to take care of the problems. too much train and road traffic noise no hot water in the unclean bathroom and shower. we did not stay there more than a few hours. I want my money back.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are sorry, Mr. Shantha, that we did not meet your expectations. We take great pride in the cleanliness of our bathrooms! When the front office is closed there is no one there to answer; please call my cell at (520) 668-5152 any time with any issue! A host is always on-site to help! Happy camping!

Pool was not at 85 degrees as promised by staff several times prior to arrival. Hot water issue in men’s room not resolved from Thanksgiving day through Sunday departure. Lights at dog park turned off at 7 pm. Would have preferred to have them on until 11pm

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I assure y'all the pool thermostat is set at 85 degrees, and would be happy to show you. Most say the pool feels Great! Men's showers are hot again! Thanks, men, for hanging in there. Be careful, they get HOT! Happy camping, Ryan

The place was clean but the freeway was a constant white noise. There was a problem with slightly than normal fly issue as horses were near by. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you, Mr. Daryl, for taking the time to leave us a review! It is tricky to be conveniently located on I-10 without it being nearby, but does save you from paying for a white noise app! World-title roper Aros keeps a few horses next door, maybe we can get him to rope some flies! Happy trails

The campground was beautify kept and very clean! The front desk staff when arriving were super friendly and kind. The inside Rec room, pool and restrooms were all very clean, up to date and well kept. Campsites were large and had everything needed. The only reason I gave an 8 instead of a 10 was due to the highway noise from the interstate. Great campground!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you, Ms. Donna, for such a positive, detailed review! In-state campers can be the hardest to please so this is especially welcome. If you are unused to the interstate noise, it can be a bit much - I can't sleep without it anymore! Happy camping

Thank you, Ms. Lanae, for the recognition!

They were great, my clam quick set blew over in a wind storm and they put it back up and staked it down when I was gone. The campground is immaculate as they work hard to keep it clean. Great place to camp and I highly recommend it for camping. Stayed there 17 days and the other campers were very friendly also. Thanks Again Ryan and Felicia and staff for a great camping experience.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The front desk family was very nice and welcoming. I felt good enough security, on Thanks Giving day. A RV was smoking POT smelling terrible around it. After swimming in the cold pool, Two European ladies were taking 30-40 minutes shower steaming up the bathroom and ignoring my existence and I ended up leaving without taking shower.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Rule #1 here is no smoking weed - looks like we missed this one. Pool is heated to 85F all winter, most say it feels Great! Y'all are invited to reach out to us at the campground, or my cell 520-668-5152, with any issues any time. We'll do everything we can to make things better. See ya at camp!

An over-night stay, site was dead level and very quiet. A nice place to stop on the way out of Phoenix. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Friendly check-in. Well maintained and very clean grounds. The showers are the best I have seen at any campground ever! I will be back for the showers alone!

They need more than one trash receptacle for the park. The staff was very nice e.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Second dumpster added! One is now located on the south end (storage area), the original is to the north as you enter.

Very clean. Bathroom is pretty clean however the floor is rather uneven to walk on especially around the drainage which can cause some tripping over.

We had a very nice relaxing stay. It’s very clean. They have great customer service and were very nice. My dogs loved the dog area that had sand. Although an individual pet area in our space would have been nice too.

Perfect overnight stay. Close to the highway but actually made for nice white noise. Bathrooms and showers were fantastic!

New owners have made significant improvements to this park. It is a nice desert park; th estaff are friendly and competent. My complaint is that while I was able to connect to the park's wifi, I was never able to get internet access at all while we were there. It would seem that this park has a very limited pipe into the internet.

Easy to park and very quiet. Hostess was very nice. Clean too

Short stay so didn’t use amenities. Easy in and out. Very quiet. Reservations were easy especially for a last minute call

Enjoyed having a dog park right next to the site. The stay was very restful.

Good place to stay to visit the local area like picacho state park or the casa grande ruins. The roads in the campground get pretty dusty so slow speed is a must. The size of the paw pens is a little small to be useful.

A very nice KOA located west of Tucson, Arizona and east of the I-10 and I-8 intersection near Casa Grande. Very close to Pacacho Peak mountain trails. Swimming pool is heated, very large room inside with seating, TV, games and book exchange. The host and owner was very friendly and accommodating. A very nice young man led us to our RV spot and made sure we had everything we needed. Level gravel sites and nice large lots. Very will priced! Also private RV spots with decks and fencing. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you for welcoming us.

After several days at Picacho Peak State Park without full hookups, arriving at Picacho / Tucson NW KOA Journey felt like the kind of reset you do not fully appreciate until you need it. We arrived a bit early while the office was closed for lunch, but the large parking area out front made it easy to pull in, park, and have lunch without any stress. Once they reopened, check-in was smooth, everyone was friendly, and being escorted to our site was a great first impression. Our site was a large pull-through with full hookups (everything worked flawlessly), and even though you do not choose your own site, we ended up in one we likely would have picked ourselves. Site 69 was under a huge willow tree with a wide view over nearby farmland, and watching cows and horses grazing gave the whole stay a calm, open feel right away. The willow tree also provided real shade, which made a noticeable difference during the day. The biggest shift for us was how easy everything felt. After being without water and sewer, having full hookups again made this stop feel less like a pass through and more like a place to actually settle in and recharge. The gravel roads and gravel sites were straightforward to navigate, and the park felt very big-rig friendly with plenty of room to maneuver. Sites are well spaced and easy to pull into, with a layout that feels open rather than tight. It was also noticeably quiet. Despite being close to I-10, it felt surprisingly peaceful, especially at night, and with very few people around us it was easy to relax after more active stops earlier in the trip. From a family perspective, this KOA works really well. There is a playground, a dog park, and a large jellybean-shaped pool that gave the kids space to play and unwind. The rules for children were clear and reasonable, like staying with an adult and no playing after sunset, which helped keep the environment safe without feeling restrictive. One of the most memorable details was their “follow the rules, get a cookie” system. On our way out, our boys ran into the office to let them know they had followed the rules and came back out with cookies in hand. It was such a simple idea, but it made the experience feel personal and stuck with them more than anything else. We also had a bundle of firewood delivered right to our site, which was convenient and added to the overall ease of the stay. Overall, this is a great example of a stop that does more than just meet basic needs. It is practical, quiet, and well run, but also has enough thoughtful touches to make it feel welcoming and memorable. It works well for both a quick overnight stop or a few days to reset. If you are traveling through this part of Arizona and want a place where you can recharge, enjoy the stop, and feel genuinely welcomed, this is absolutely worth it.
