Campground Reviews

As a Rewards member, this KOA is the best campground in the right place for an overnight stay on my retirement travels across the country. It fills a gap between San Diego & Alamogordo when I visit family. I wish it was available for my trip in June when I used Benson KOA.

A great and quiet place to stay overnight.

We only stayed one night. While the location is lovely and peaceful, the entire lot is pebbly and dusty. Needs more road crush or gravel to make it comfortable.

The spaces and ground were well maintained as well as the laundry and rec room areas. The heated pool was a lovely treat after a long day on the road. The young woman that checked us in was friendly and informative.

The hosts were fantastic and very attentive to making sure my stay was awesome. I was going to tent, then I saw the cabin. The host quickly started the air conditioner and made sure I had what I needed. It was a windy day and she even scraped the pool of its leaves before I jumped in. I Love that pool!

This was our first stay at a KOA The park grounds were lovely and well kept . We were greeted well and they considered our special needs pet when assigning a spot. In the morning we discovered the woman’s showers were not working and men’s hardly any water pressure. We we were only there overnight and clean showers were the key reason we stayed. Disappointed to have paid so much and not had sh

One of the nicest KOAs I’ve been to. Beautifully landscaped, clean spacious sites, nice amenities. Owner hosts were welcoming and gracious. A terrific stay!

We only stayed as an overnight but it looks like a really nice place with full hookups and lots of amenities. Like a mini gated dog park area at our space. The manager met us with our papers even though we had a late arrival. Would definitely stay again.

Park was very clean and well maintained.Spaces were roomy. They did have some plumbing issues when we first arrived. Was fixed promptly. Don’t trust the online reservation app. It was showing very limited sites available. We were 1 of three units in the entire park!

Super friendly staff and a cute dog area, but cloudy water made me wary to drink it.

This is the best KOA we have stayed at so far. The owners are wonderful people who go out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction. Lots of space between sites, and very clean! Will certainly stay here again! Thank you for a great experience!

Loved the site set up with the motion light, patio furniture, and fire pit. The restrooms were great and though I didn’t swim the pool was very inviting to look at! Glad I found this gem

We love this place! The owners are wonderful people and keep the place clean. Gravel level sites. Very spacious. We use this KOA for a few nights as we travel through the area. Laundry area is clean. We are not bothered by the I-10 road noise. I give this KOA 5 stars because it exceeds our expectations as a traveler. Closed during the summer months.

A neighborhood dog barked all night long and a rooster at the farm next door started crowing at 3am. While I realize this is no fault of KOA, it was disruptive none the less and would prevent me from returning to this campground.

Beautiful surroundings, with cacti gardens, and tall hedges. Our patio site had a lovely privacy fence between our site and the neighbor's utility hook ups, and even had a sun umbrella for the patio table. Camper experience was obviously at the forefront when the sites and grounds were planned.

Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable about the area, the park is clean and well maintained with beautiful landscape. We use the pool and the Bathhouse and both were great. For us it was a great place for the weekend!

Good place to stay to visit the local area like picacho state park or the casa grande ruins. The roads in the campground get pretty dusty so slow speed is a must. The size of the paw pens is a little small to be useful.

A very nice KOA located west of Tucson, Arizona and east of the I-10 and I-8 intersection near Casa Grande. Very close to Pacacho Peak mountain trails. Swimming pool is heated, very large room inside with seating, TV, games and book exchange. The host and owner was very friendly and accommodating. A very nice young man led us to our RV spot and made sure we had everything we needed. Level gravel sites and nice large lots. Very will priced! Also private RV spots with decks and fencing. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you for welcoming us.

After several days at Picacho Peak State Park without full hookups, arriving at Picacho / Tucson NW KOA Journey felt like the kind of reset you do not fully appreciate until you need it. We arrived a bit early while the office was closed for lunch, but the large parking area out front made it easy to pull in, park, and have lunch without any stress. Once they reopened, check-in was smooth, everyone was friendly, and being escorted to our site was a great first impression. Our site was a large pull-through with full hookups (everything worked flawlessly), and even though you do not choose your own site, we ended up in one we likely would have picked ourselves. Site 69 was under a huge willow tree with a wide view over nearby farmland, and watching cows and horses grazing gave the whole stay a calm, open feel right away. The willow tree also provided real shade, which made a noticeable difference during the day. The biggest shift for us was how easy everything felt. After being without water and sewer, having full hookups again made this stop feel less like a pass through and more like a place to actually settle in and recharge. The gravel roads and gravel sites were straightforward to navigate, and the park felt very big-rig friendly with plenty of room to maneuver. Sites are well spaced and easy to pull into, with a layout that feels open rather than tight. It was also noticeably quiet. Despite being close to I-10, it felt surprisingly peaceful, especially at night, and with very few people around us it was easy to relax after more active stops earlier in the trip. From a family perspective, this KOA works really well. There is a playground, a dog park, and a large jellybean-shaped pool that gave the kids space to play and unwind. The rules for children were clear and reasonable, like staying with an adult and no playing after sunset, which helped keep the environment safe without feeling restrictive. One of the most memorable details was their “follow the rules, get a cookie” system. On our way out, our boys ran into the office to let them know they had followed the rules and came back out with cookies in hand. It was such a simple idea, but it made the experience feel personal and stuck with them more than anything else. We also had a bundle of firewood delivered right to our site, which was convenient and added to the overall ease of the stay. Overall, this is a great example of a stop that does more than just meet basic needs. It is practical, quiet, and well run, but also has enough thoughtful touches to make it feel welcoming and memorable. It works well for both a quick overnight stop or a few days to reset. If you are traveling through this part of Arizona and want a place where you can recharge, enjoy the stop, and feel genuinely welcomed, this is absolutely worth it.
