I contacted the campground 15 minutes after closing for a late arrival while on the road. The person was clearly anoided during the discussion. I asked for a verbal confirmation of the address, was told I'd get an e-mail and she hung up the phone. At some point I got voice mail from a guy with after hours check in instructions.

We like staying there. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The pool is coming along nicely. I wish they would pave the roads. We will be back soon

location is dicey to get to on the narrow roads as you have to pull over into the grass to pass another large size vehicle. Seems a weird place for a campground. The Sound sites are very pretty and the bathhouses were the cleanest, brightest of any campground I've been too. The chicken in the camp store is horrible and upset both of our stomachs! Some pieces were so hard they could not be eaten.

The bldg with unisex bathrooms had 2 of the 4 rooms closed during our stay ( for cleaning ??). Of the remaining two one bathroom did not lock. You can do better!

Campground was great. Great staff had entertainment on the weekends fairly close to Outer banks. Would not recommend purchasing the weather guarantee by sensible weather. If rained all day Tuesday and All day Wednesday. Called sensible they said it had to rain more than 1.5 inches per day so we didn’t Qualify. SCAM. Probably change the amount every time.

Despite the unpredictable weather and mosquito and gnats problem the Staff does an exceptional job trying to make the stay comfortable by swapping sites which helped for a couple days, Wife and I Love this Campground and will revisit after checking the weather. and maybe coming earlier in the season

We had a great stay. If you like to go fishing this is the place. The pool was not open (being built). All sites are gravel. The staff were very pleased and kind. Could use some more maintenance to the non-water front campsites.

Always a great place to stay - Only a few comments to make this a better place. First the escort to our site, usually validate any issues. We had a minor issue connecting the electrical and I would have figured it out faster if the host was on site to ask questions. Also we paid extra for the table / chairs, etc. These should have been wiped down by an employee, instead of the camper. thank

Grounds were very clean. Camp store was well stocked. Ice cream selections were great. The dumpster area was maintained well. Walking trail and inlets to waters were trimmed well.

Checking in was quick, hosts were very pleasant to work with. Disappointed in the progress of the pool. The status on the web didn't reflect the actual, was supposed to be open the week of our stay, then the following week. The actual progress was just a hole in the ground. Bugs at night but, you are on the sound.

Other than the midges, the staff was great, answering all questions, pointing out things to do and see. Crabbing on the sound, great views and location. Close to OBX and easy drive or boat ride free from the campground. One of the best KOAs we have stayed at.

Very clean campground. Lacking activities for the kids from what I have seen at other KOAs. Bingo was adults only which made no sense. No activities on Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Sunset cruise was awesome, but would like to see more frequent boat trips other than Friday/Saturday. Dumpsters need to be placed closer to the campsites or have trash pickup like every other KOA.

The only slight complaint is that the largest bathroom facility was closed for cleaning on Saturday at around 9am. There were a lot of campers needing the facility at that time, and the separate four-unit bathhouse was full. Consider not closing the bathrooms for cleaning at that time. Otherwise, no complaints and still 5 stars! It's a great campground!

We had a great stay! All the of hosts/staff were friendly and helpful. All of the connections (water/sewer/cable/WIFI) all worked with no issues. The kids were a little bummed the pool wasn't open but there was still plenty to do.

We had a waterfront RV site. The views were amazing. We were able to see every sunrise and sunset over the sound. Appreciated all the amenities available. Our dogs loved the dogpark! All the staff were superfriendly and helpful. Especially liked the firestarters that were available in the camp store. Bath houses were exceptionally clean and we'll appointed. The pond is beautiful.

The staff here is very friendly. Bugs are EPIC, to the point you can’t sit outside. They need to address some inconsiderate campers who don’t curb their dogs. Fishing pond not stocked, 2nd pond barely accessible by weeds. Pizza was good. Nice playground.

We were originally in Frisco but we had to evacuate because of Hurricane Erin. Campground was very clean. Was disappointed that there as no pool but looks like the pool is being built. Not a lot around if you want anything to do, you have to travel about an hour to Virginia Beach or about an hour to Kitty Hawk. But all in all it was nice, clean KOA people are very friendly well very maintained.

Unbearable bugs, sites way too close , permanent section makes the place look like a complete dump. Worse koa we have ever been too. Sad because the location and views are amazing. Staff was very nice.

Our location is indeed beautiful, but unfortunately bugs come with being on the marsh. This is typical for this area as you may understand by being from the next town over. Thanks for giving us a try though!

Wonderful experience for our first time at this campground. Activities director was Wonderful! She kept all members engaged and informed of the happenings of the campground. Swimming area was great however the water was pretty rough when we swam. Pond was growed up a little so not much by the way of fishing. Can't wait for the pool to open and would definitely get a golf cart next time.

Great campground- loved all the golf carts available, great setup for families Bugs were terrible!! I don’t mean just a few here and there- we couldn’t even sit outside because of the little yellow bugs everywhere- I’ve never had so many bugs in one place

The campsite was very good. Lots of room. I was disappointing that we couldn't go to see the horses. Also, the bugs were really bad. You could not sit out. I would like to see some improvements. And i'm glad they are putting in a pool. I will say the staff was very good.

This is our second stay, it does have beautiful views and staff is been friendly both times! Family bath house could use some extra cleaning regularly from the midge flys. They were swarming while showering and covering the bathroom. Also half the trails and the ponds are blocked off so there really is not any nature trails or ponds to fish from.

This park is large, visually clean, and well-maintained. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and they do their best to assist guests. The park is almost there, but there is only one dumpster location, so you'll likely want to rent a golf cart if you're staying farther away. The biggest reason we're taking stars off is the overwhelming fly problem. There were thousands—possibly tens of thousands—of house flies during our stay, and they affected every part of our family's experience. Simply opening my truck windows while connecting our truck and trailer resulted in hundreds of flies getting inside. There is nothing dead or rotting in my vehicle; the flies are coming from the surrounding area. The flies constantly bother people and pets and make it difficult to enjoy being outdoors or do so much as leave your car window open for more than a minute. There is no leaving your camper door open either, even with a screen. Even after leaving the park, I still have hundreds of flies in my truck. Unfortunately, this issue significantly impacted an otherwise pleasant stay.

Just finished up a weekend with my 5yr grandson. We brought him here last year also. This is his special trip of the year. Never disappointed. I cannot say enough about the staff and quality of entertainment. Dinosaur weekend was amazing. From Jurassic Park trilogy movies playing in the garage, to Lizard King bringing his reptiles, then to making amazing KOA Tye Dye shirts that we were able to decorate and bring home. Craft tables, games.... Mary is one of the staff members here that stood out to us. She has been the face of entertainment and crafts for us for our past few visits. So sweet and nice and definitely helpful in the arts & crafts, and always available to help out. I wish I knew everyone's names here bc each of them played such a huge part in us having so much fun this weekend. From the store front, pool, garage, sites,grounds, activities. Everyone in the staff was just amazing. The facilities were impeccable. We really love coming here. Campsites level,clean. Views are amazing. This year they had the water taxi and kayaks available. We didnt use them, however we did see them being used. So much for a lil'one to do here. To also make it more special, due to the wind we couldnt use our fire pit due to us being waterside, however the play area has them (less windy inland) and of course this wonderful place had their firepits roaring and provided amazing music by Heather, and smores by the main firepits that was provided for everyone. Just can not say enough how much this place makes each trip so special. Thank you so much and see you again next visit.

Great place, super friendly staff, nice amenities, fun activities. It is a little pricey but expected of a place with such beautiful views. Our only complaint is the pool hours. It is open from 10am until 6pm, the earliest of any campground we have stayed at. Hopefully, the will extend the hours until 8 or 9pm in the future. Other than the pool hours, our stay was great and relaxing.
