Great place to stay. There was no pool or stocked fishing ponds for the kiddos. 20-30 mins to the nearest Family Dollar/ Food Lion, so stock up before you get here. Handicap accessible cabins are a plus!!! My kids and parents really enjoyed the boat trip over to Corolla to see the wild horses; my kids and I walked the 5+min walk up and over the dune to the beach. The beach was perfect.

We stayed in a rented RV. I loved that this was an option! The camper was a little beat up but i guess that is to be expected. Beautiful area! WiFi def sucked but then again i know it’s not what we were there for. Nice amenities- def farther from a beach than expected . The sound was nice to swim and fish in and the sunsets were spectacular!

The views from the waterfront sites are amazing. If staying to visit the outer banks, it was bit out of the way. With the upcoming addition to the bridge across the Currituck Sound reaching places like Corolla will be much quicker than an almost 2 hour drive.

We stayed water front for three nights and enjoyed the view and easy access to the pier for swimming and paddle boarding. It was a very relaxing experience! The kids enjoyed the playground and crafts. We hope to come back and catch the water taxi.

I loved it! I will be back. I have a suggestion, put sink strainers in the RV sinks. You don't know what people are pouring into the gray tanks. I have them in my RV and in my kitchen sinks at home. The staff was very nice and friendly. Looking forward to the pool being ready next year!

The bugs were awful this visit. We have been here several times and never had an issue. We could not even sit by a campfire, they were so bad.

The views are the best thing about the campground. Not much for kids to do when the weather is windy. We were unable to enjoy any of the water activities even though we paid resort fees. The water taxi did not run and the water was to rough for the kayaks.The bugs are insane. It was impossible to cook outside due to them.The staff is very friendly. This campground is far from everything.

We were assigned a waterfront site where the view was almost entirely blocked by an 8 x 6 foot electrical panel (photos available). Despite paying full price, this site should have been offered at a significant discount. Staff were overheard complaining about guest feedback and saying they wanted to be left alone. We were part of a large group, were placed away from them. There’s more…

The grounds/grass wasn’t kept very well. All listed amenities were not available. The bugs were horrendous, please spray for future guests. The seasonal section looked liked a ghetto. We will not be back.

Sounds like we let you down! Amenities like the boat and kayaks are not available during small craft advisories as we have had for the last 10 days. There is a storm system off the coast causing disturbances. This and bugs are unfortunately apart of coastal life. Thanks for giving us a try though.

We really love this koa it’s the staff that really make the trip amazing we did the build a bear and my kiddos loved it will definitely be returning.

My stay would have been much better if the wind had not been blowing 18 mph, but no one can predict how the weather will be at the time you book your stay in advance. The campground was nice and the people seemed to enjoyed themselves despite the wind. I will be staying again and recommending the OBX West to my friends.

The site was beautiful, the boat ride to the wild Mustangs was great, the lunch from the boat ride was great. The customer service was wonderful and Carmen was one of nicest person we have ever met. The pool is needed, but once it’s complete, you will have it all

had a 5day trip booked ended up leaving a day early, as for amenities you can only get fishing poles(which didn't cast horribly maintained),kayaks, paddle boards,cornhole bags etc..from 10-6pm who wants to play cornhole in the heat of the day should be available in the evenings/early mornings. Swimming wasn't ideal had to climb down a ladder off a pier. Mosquitoes are terrible �� No stores close

The camp grounds were very nice and the staff was pleasant. Our cabin was dirty. The stove was covered in hair and food. There was a dead frog in a ball of dust that was behind the bathroom door. Dead bugs smashed all over the walls and ceilings. I get the bugs…. But I was confused about the warning of being upcharged for smashing bugs and then still seeing the bugs from the previous guests.

We were very please with this KOA. Very relaxing, Kid friendly, We did not notice any undesirable happenings. Mostly families lots of kids. Very nice employees. There is a pool coming soon. Lots of fishing and swimming areas. Beautiful campground. Baths were very clean. We will deffinatly go back.

Too many bugs. Could not open the door without the cabin filling up with bugs Did not clean the porch before my check in which was very disappointing.

We had a wonderful stay. The view of the sound from our cabin porch was beautiful. We had such a nice breeze and it was shaded in the afternoon and evenings. It was so enjoyable. Our cabin was nice and comfortable. However, my Mom did get quite a few bug bites from our stay. She went to the Dr as soon as we returned home and the doctor said they were bed bugs. She is on prednisone.

The view is beautiful and the campground is quiet but the bugs are out of control. You can’t even sit outside and enjoy nature without 1000 mosquitoes or flys in your face. They even get into your camper. The swimming dock didn’t look appealing either to cool off in. The current in the sound looked strong and the sea grass was thick. The staff was amazing and friendly.

We were inundated with bugs. Swarms throughout entire campsite. Could not leave RV from dusk to dawn which is impossible when you have dogs. We have pictures of the bugs that made their way into storage compartments as well as inside of our rv. We had a premium site which we felt that the sites were too close together for a premium site. The campground itself is beautiful, but the bugs are unbearable. We will not stay there again during the summer and that makes us sad because we really enjoy the campground. Also, the grass was so high, and bugs were worse. The activity directors were trying to run 10 different activities, and they needed help but we never saw anyone coming to help out. :( That was disappointing.

Our stay with OBX West / Currituck Sound KOA was enjoyable. The swimming area was a welcome relief from the heat and the breeze off the water was nice after the sun went down. Not a lot of shade on the sound-side. The campsite was clean, as was the rest of the grounds. The camp store is well appointed and the restrooms and baths were clean. Can't wait for the pool!

We loved our location and the set up. The views were amazing. The bugs were terrible. We were fighting the midgets, flies, and mosquitoes. We were next to a pier with a boat ramp and the seaweed was overflowing and smelled of sewage. A worker attempted to clean it out but gave up and left a pile of seaweed in front of our camper. We ended up leaving a day early.

Stay was great as always...our only complaint every time we stay is that the water pressure barely gets above 20psi. We were in site H15 in a 44 ft coach . Site was very level! Thanks for another great stay.. y'all know we'll be back!

We enjoyed our stay and the staff was very nice. The campsites are very close together almost to close. The bugs and ants are a nuisance. We were very disappointed that we could not spend more time outside because of the bugs. We were very disappointed that our 5 days there that the boat captain was on vacation and we had to make other arrangements. Maybe hire another captain.

While our rating is low, it was not entirely the KOA's fault. There was a heat advisory and unfortunately, we had no access to shade. The view and sunset were amazing, but between the heat and bugs, we really did not get to enjoy it. We found the staff to be friendly, campground/site to be level and clean. Maybe it was wrong timing of year, but we do not foresee staying here again.

The stay was absolutely perfect from check in to check out it was such a great experience for me that I added a night and decided to leave Tuesday and come back Saturday to Wednesday again it’s peaceful and stress free all the office staff was amazing and let’s not forget to mention the food in the little store I’m pretty sure I bought all their mozzarella sticks ���� looking forward to go

Glad to see the camp store being well managed again. We had a great visit, even though a serious thunderstorm knocked out our cabin’s AC. The manager offered us another cabin and refunded that night’s fee, which was generous and much appreciated. We’ll be back. Friends admiring our photos will be booking, too!

Very buggy area, we were located near the boat ramp and the dead sea grass was piled up so high it caused more bugs and terrible smells. The camp store is an awesome amenity and the views are great but we won’t be returning.

Nice place, clean and well kept. Some sites closer to the beach area were pretty packed together but the sites along the march view were very decent sized, plenty of room. Lots of activities. If we are ever back in the area would definitely stay here again.

WiFi WAS BAD! Sites were very small compared to other campgrounds we’ve been to and no trees. Need to plant more trees. No easy transition to get into the sound. The lbulk head ladders were straight up against the bulk head and didn’t seem sturdy. Pier ladder was a little better, but still a little steep. Swimming pier seemed a little shabby - a lot of broken solar lights.

This park is large, visually clean, and well-maintained. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and they do their best to assist guests. The park is almost there, but there is only one dumpster location, so you'll likely want to rent a golf cart if you're staying farther away. The biggest reason we're taking stars off is the overwhelming fly problem. There were thousands—possibly tens of thousands—of house flies during our stay, and they affected every part of our family's experience. Simply opening my truck windows while connecting our truck and trailer resulted in hundreds of flies getting inside. There is nothing dead or rotting in my vehicle; the flies are coming from the surrounding area. The flies constantly bother people and pets and make it difficult to enjoy being outdoors or do so much as leave your car window open for more than a minute. There is no leaving your camper door open either, even with a screen. Even after leaving the park, I still have hundreds of flies in my truck. Unfortunately, this issue significantly impacted an otherwise pleasant stay.

Just finished up a weekend with my 5yr grandson. We brought him here last year also. This is his special trip of the year. Never disappointed. I cannot say enough about the staff and quality of entertainment. Dinosaur weekend was amazing. From Jurassic Park trilogy movies playing in the garage, to Lizard King bringing his reptiles, then to making amazing KOA Tye Dye shirts that we were able to decorate and bring home. Craft tables, games.... Mary is one of the staff members here that stood out to us. She has been the face of entertainment and crafts for us for our past few visits. So sweet and nice and definitely helpful in the arts & crafts, and always available to help out. I wish I knew everyone's names here bc each of them played such a huge part in us having so much fun this weekend. From the store front, pool, garage, sites,grounds, activities. Everyone in the staff was just amazing. The facilities were impeccable. We really love coming here. Campsites level,clean. Views are amazing. This year they had the water taxi and kayaks available. We didnt use them, however we did see them being used. So much for a lil'one to do here. To also make it more special, due to the wind we couldnt use our fire pit due to us being waterside, however the play area has them (less windy inland) and of course this wonderful place had their firepits roaring and provided amazing music by Heather, and smores by the main firepits that was provided for everyone. Just can not say enough how much this place makes each trip so special. Thank you so much and see you again next visit.

Great place, super friendly staff, nice amenities, fun activities. It is a little pricey but expected of a place with such beautiful views. Our only complaint is the pool hours. It is open from 10am until 6pm, the earliest of any campground we have stayed at. Hopefully, the will extend the hours until 8 or 9pm in the future. Other than the pool hours, our stay was great and relaxing.
