Beach Days and Campfire Nights in Charleston, SC

Beach Days and Campfire Nights in Charleston, SC

That’s what we love about camping at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA Holiday. You can fit a beach day, a downtown food crawl, and a night under the stars into one trip. And if your group chat has been saying “we should go somewhere” for six months, this is an easy one to make happen.

Your first camping trip can be a cabin weekend

Book a cabin and pull up with your weekend bag. Our Deluxe Cabins have private bathrooms, and select cabins have lakefront views and a KOA Patio®. Classic Cabins give you the cozy camping feel with access to the campground bathhouse. For a getaway with a story built in, you can even stay in a train caboose. Pick your cabin, check what’s included, and decide who’s bringing breakfast.

Curious about RV life? Try a rental. Book an RV site with us and rent a camper from a third-party provider. If you’d rather skip the drive or tow, ask the rental company about delivery and setup, then confirm the arrangements with our front desk before booking. It’s a fun way to try out the camper lifestyle for a weekend, complete with outdoor dinners and slow mornings in your camp chair. Explore our RV sites.

What to do near Charleston in every season

Spring is for getting outside. Walk the Ravenel Bridge for harbor views, linger over lunch on Shem Creek, then head back to camp for a walk beneath the moss-draped live oaks. Leave a little room in the day to sit by the lake. That’s often the part you’ll wish you’d done more of.

Summer is for salty hair and late sunsets. Pack a cooler for Isle of Palms, grab seafood on the way back, and save time for a dip in the campground pool. If your crew wants a full day at camp, try paddling on the lake or see what’s happening on our activities calendar.

Fall is for a downtown day and a campfire night. Start with coffee, wander past the colorful houses on Rainbow Row, and see where lunch takes you. Back at camp, pull on a hoodie, get the fire going, and check the calendar for Halloween weekends and other themed activities. See what’s happening at camp.

Winter is for cozy cabin weekends. Plan a long lunch downtown, spend an afternoon at the International African American Museum, or take a bundled-up walk on the beach. Then head back to your cabin for a card game, hot chocolate, and a morning with nowhere you have to be.

Give yourself a day to stay at camp

Our award-winning campground sits on the historic grounds of Oakland Plantation, with a 30-acre fishing lake, a nature trail, and protected Lowcountry marshlands. Take a guided wagon tour to learn about the property, cast a line, or grab a chair by the water and watch for herons. On select weekends, themed events give your group something fun to jump into without ever reaching for the car keys.

Come for a friends’ weekend, a couples’ escape, or that first family camping trip you’ve been talking about. Spend one day out exploring and one day close to the lake. You’ll go home with your favorite Charleston spot and a favorite spot at camp.
