Campground Reviews

Not a "craphole" but not up to KOA expectations either! 80% seasonals-many well maintained -several look like hillbilly shacks. Signs for traffic, amenities etc. are small and confusing. The card reader for entry is too low and too far to reach from a full size truck so you jump out in the rain to re-enter camp. Dump station ( which we thankfully did not need) is on a hill, on a curve, on gravel.

Our stay was excellent. It is a family-owned campground, and the owners were excellent hosts. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool and playground; everyone had a great time playing volleyball and badminton. We rented kayaks and used the lake; once you went past the shallow lily-pad areas, the open lake was great. We had a very good time overall; will definitely visit again.

Our site was on a road corner, giving us space between sites. I wouldn't describe this KOA as a destination site, but it will do to stay at and explore the surrounding area. Sites were very close together, and there were more golf carts zooming around than I've seen at any other campground. Nights were quiet. Little to no cell service or WiFi. Bathrooms need major renovations.

No WiFi at site, only at camp store. Back sites near noisy road. Quiet hour not enforced. Showers very clean, but some clogged toilets. Mini golf very small upstairs above arcade, arcade machines do not all work

It was great except the internet and lighting walking around at night.

They have nothing to offer for the price they charge.

Excellent Stay, beautiful property with very friendly Owners of KOA. We will definitely recommend to all as it’s a very safe family Campground. Thank You & we were very happy to have Andrew around throughout our stay who made it more fun & memorable. You will see us every year for sure.

Little or no wifi service. Paid for patio site and the site was located behind our motor home and the chairs had sap and dirt on them. I tried to clean them but the sap was to hard to get off and it was sticky so we couldn't use them. The front office people were very nice.

Great..

The site had all hookups , and was located in a very comfortable, wooded site. A short walk to the lake for a little evening hike. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We spent 5-days at the campground. Had a wonderful time. Our site was perfect. The owners were very friendly. We booked a stay for 2025 prior to leaving.

We had a wonderful stay. This is one of our favorite campgrounds. It is so clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and despite being almost full during our stay the campground was very quiet. It was fun to watch the kids riding their bikes around, in a nice safe environment. The staff of the KOA are always around if you need anything. Highly recommended campground.

Definitely needs updating to their playground, arcade/mini golf areas. The pricing was a little absurd for camping especially since neither my husband or I slept the whole time because the mattress in our cabin was so uncomfortable. We definitely won’t return. The positives are that the staff were friendly and they had quite a few options in the store.
Aug 26, 2024
The location and facilities were excellent for the most part. The only complaint is the site was hard to level the RV.

Aug 25, 2024
I had no cell service and very weak WiFi and very few tv channels . That all adversely affected our stay.
Aug 25, 2024
Horrible campsite was a mess. Also dead trees. Safety. The patio was a mess. Campsite 12 not really usable.
Aug 25, 2024
Many of the pull through sites are bordered with wetlands and marshes lots of flying insects. There was a constant wafting of sewer smells.
Aug 23, 2024
Lovely staff who were very helpful. Great, well equipped cabin. Small pool with a fun slide. Loved every minute of our stay.
Aug 23, 2024
Loved our campsite private and clean

While this wasn't our favorite campground it was our least favorite. The bathrooms were dirty and run down. The pool while clean was small and cold. There wasn't much to do here and it didn't live up to the KOA standard that we expected.

Our 4th or 5th stay, disappointed with lack of maintenance. Plenty of staff riding around and even following each other around in golf carts. No site care between check out and arrivals, overflowing.recepticals at k9 Park and dump station. Less riding around and some actual work needs to be Done! We've enjoyed our previous stays, however, some improvements are needed.

Our site was so close to the highway , it was very noisy. I was also surprised how small the sites were, very narrow. The splash pad wasn't running for the little kids when we asked how to turn it on we were told by one employee that it only runs on the weekend, and he drove off, however another very nice employee came by and turned it on for the kids. He made them extremely happy .

I absolutely love this campground! I can’t say enough good about it. It’s so clean and the staff is absolutely wonderful. They will do anything for you right down to helping me park my motor home!

The map provided doesn't really match the actual campground layout and no escort was offered. Once I found my site which was in a corner of the property, I had no cell signal, could not see/connect to the campground WiFi and because it was heavily wooded, wasn't able to use my own Starling for internet. I attempted to connect to the cable TV and could only see snow and hear static.

What a wonderful KOA. Very peaceful.
Aug 17, 2024
For the most part, the biggest asset of the park is the front office staff.
Aug 17, 2024
Cable TV sucked! 1/3 of channels were under some kind of contract dispute with provider. Not your fault, I hope! Resort Wi-Fi barely adequate for getting on net and sending/receiving emails. Resort on a beautiful lake but on a part of the lake that there is no swimming and the beach up the road charges arm & leg to swim! Not your fault again. You can’t fish except fron a boat. probably won’t b

Real nice, spacious lots if u look .

We did enjoy this campground but the entrance is difficult with the open flag hanging there. Both of our campers hit it on entering the gate. Some of the trees over the RV parking ares needed to be trimmed a little. The staff at the store were vhelpful.

Came to Lake Bomoseen for a relaxing get away, Saturday was a bit loud but after everyone left Sunday and the following days it was pleasant. Our spot was cabin 73, in a bit of a busy spot during the day but perfect for the kids.

This was exactly the fall camping we wanted. We never find affordable cabins that allow dogs, so that was awesome. Staff was nice, camp store had the basics and then some. Hiked bomoseen state park and explored rutland, vt.

Lake Bomoseen KOA: What to Expect Before our stay, we came across some negative reviews about Lake Bomoseen KOA, which made us a bit anxious. However, our experience was quite different from what we expected based on those reviews. Here's what you should know: Expect a Typical KOA Experience: Lake Bomoseen is a standard KOA—safe, affordable, and adhering to KOA's corporate standards. It's not luxury camping, but that's not what KOA is about. If you've stayed at other KOAs, you'll find similar setups here. It's a budget-friendly, family-oriented campground that offers a nice getaway in nature. Addressing Common Complaints: Cleanliness: Some reviews mentioned unclean facilities, but we found the bathrooms and showers to be well-maintained. The laundry room was temporarily closed due to a fire, but the staff was upfront about this. Plan ahead and pack extra clothes just in case. The Lake: The lake area is a boat launch, not a swimming or play area. It's functional for boating, but if you're expecting a beach, that's not what this spot is for. Pool and Amenities: The pool is on the smaller side, typical for a KOA, and geared towards families with kids. It's not a large, resort-style pool but offers a nice way to cool off. If you're expecting luxury amenities, this might not meet your expectations. Campsite Spacing: Like most KOAs, the campsites are close together. KOA's business model requires efficient use of space, so don't expect wide-open spaces between sites. However, it's still cozy and functional for RVs, tents, and cabins. No Wifi / Cell Service: There is Wifi, but it's slow and spotty at times. This is pretty standard for KOAs in rural or mountainous areas. If you're dependent on Wifi for work or other needs, plan accordingly. Cell service can also be patchy, but that's part of being in a remote, natural location. Trash and Onsite Security Deposits: Some people were surprised by having to take their own trash to the dumpster or pay a $50 deposit on arrival. These are standard practices for many campgrounds, so it's worth checking the KOA website for these details before your stay. Final Thoughts: If you come to Lake Bomoseen KOA with realistic expectations—a quiet, family-friendly campground with basic amenities—you'll likely have a pleasant stay. It's great for those who enjoy nature and a bit of rustic charm. If you're looking for a more luxurious or high-tech experience, you might want to consider other options. For us, it was a solid KOA experience, in line with what we've seen across the U.S. and Canada.

We were camping so the room 5 stars is for the camp site. It was very clean, level and a good amount of space. The staff was very kind and helpful, you can always locate someone if you need anything. We have enjoyed camping there several times and would recommend it to anyone. Families were enjoying the time as well as singles. As full as the campground was, it was quiet and very enjoyable.
