Campground Reviews

We canceled this reservation by phone and email. I called the KOA and spoke to the manager and she refused to provide refund despite offering to send screen shots of phone call and email. She refused and was very rude. I will be leaving a negative review on google and trip advisor.

Check in was a breeze. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival. The bathrooms were pristine. Our cabin was clean and beautiful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

As a camper, just learning about KOA we could not be any happier With every avenue of service that this place has to offer. Very very clean and extremely accommodating. Amazing bathrooms and showers. They have truly put a lot of thought into the creation of each piece of property. And the staff is hard at work In the background and will come to your aid if you need them. And Jenny was very nice.

Perfect location for easy access on/off highway for a one night stay mid winter. Showers/bathrooms are clean, warm with hot water and good water pressure. Clean camp, friendly service at the front desk. Great view of the sunset across and up the hill behind the campground.

Very nice, pleasant staff and awesome coffee for morning. Only negative was road traffic, but it’s a very easy off/on highway so Great overnight stay.

Stayed in a clean little cabin. Had a wonderful time.

This camp ground has a lot to offer. Very nice bathrooms and unique cabins. The cabin we stayed in was nice, but it did smell like smoke and it looked like an animal had damaged the door seal into the room making it cold at night. Other than that it was a nice campground.

Overnight stay, beautiful setting, easy in and out. Very clean and convenient.

The hospitality & upgraded cabins elevated our experience! It is close enough to the interstate so you hear trucks. We knew that going in so that didn't affect our review. It is SUPER convenient to local National Parks; which was our goal. The scary part...camp roads where never treated for the snowfall and it was a sliding adventure every time we left and came back. However, we would come back!!

Husband says best bathrooms every! Friendly staff. Our pull through site was on a slope, so front of trailer down as far as could go; lots of blocks under tires. Also sewer connection was by the road instead of in center, so we didn't have long enough hose and had to back up to dump before we left. Otherwise would be 5* rating.

Great Place to Stay!

Scenic campground with a variety of lodging options. Lots of amenities and activities. Nice, clean shower rooms! The only thing that would make this campground better would be a nice row of evergreens planted along the highway boundary. Highly recommend, though!

The staff was super kind and always helpful

We use the KOA twice a year as we travel back and forth from Ohio to Arizona. Horse Cave is 1 of 4 KOAs we use in our travels. It is the cleanest, friendliest, and most accommodating of all KOAs.

Just overnight stop

One night turned into two nights turned into three! The staff was incredibly pleasant and helpful, the restrooms and showers were perfectly clean, and the concrete slab made leveling so much easier. If you can get a site with a view of the meadow, DO IT. I sat there and gazed at the farm/woods for hours. So relaxing! We will definitely go back!

Very clean, well kept park. The reason I can’t give it an 10 is it not big rig friendly. You have to unhook from tow vehicle

Very clean, cute, and nice place to stay. I'm not giving it a 5 for a couple of reasons. We had spot 8 and it was tough for a big rig to park. It's labeled as a pull through, but it is no longer set up that way. And the laundry facilities were not great. Small machines that when they did work, took a long time. Overall, we would stay again for short stay.

Good stop for our overnight stay. Put us on a good site to be able to clean out tanks on our last day of travel. It looks like a great place to stay with a family. The only negative was low light for finding our way thru the site at night. We did have a dog and it was difficult to discern where/what was on the outskirts. All in all, a nice KOA with friendly staff!

Nice view/cozy park. We arrived around 6:30 pm after office closed and in off season. No one to check us in or instructions left. We had to call and wait about 15 minutes for someone to show up. However, the staff was friendly. Note that spots 6 & 7 have a slight incline and hook-ups on the starboard side of the rig. The benefit is nice views in the morning from the front door side.

We stayed here several times. We have always felt welcome. The 1 negative is no cable, and you can not get anything over the air.

Loved the uniqueness of the teepee stay. Just the right amount of room, everything was clean and well taken care of. Kids had a blast! I'm sure we will be back.

It's always home away from home when we stay here lord it's become only place we ever stay anymore absolutely love it

The area and location were great. We enjoyed the campground and the ease of getting to and from different attractions. The only problem we had was the heater could not keep the covered wagon warm in the colder weather. Loved the bathrooms there!

We were scheduled to stay in their covered wagon section but couldn't find where to drive/park due to no lighting in and near this area. Our travel agent had specifically inquired about the lighting when she originally made the reservation and was told by Horse Cave KOA that it was well lighted, which we found to be incorrect. Unfortunately, we had to leave the campground and book a hotel room.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I am sorry you could not find the wagons. We have never had anyone that could not find there spot. Listed on site map is the after hour number. We can not help that it was raining and your defrost on your car wasn't working at the time.

It was delightful, clean camp, several things to entertain although we mostly played with the dog. Visited with horse and ponies. Nice property on a hill, sadly the pool was closed for winter. Wonderful staff. ABSOLUTELY fantastic restroom/shower rooms.

The owner was very nice and the kids loved saying hello to the resident horse but the site was impossible to get level on and full of dog poop from other campers. As others noted there is quite a bit of highway noise but we guessed that was likely the case being so close to 65.

Great property, beautiful trees and wooded area. Sweet horse on property that our kids loved, also the jumping pillow was a hit! Very cute and clean cabin we stayed in. The only negative was the wifi was hard to get reception at our cabin.

Everything was great but the traffic noise would be my only complaint
Nov 21, 2023
Originally we were booked for 3 day stay. We had RV problems, tried changing reservations 10 days before arriving, they were booked and that the owner declared the month of October a holiday so we would be charged $45 not $10 for canceling. We managed to make it on the third original booked day and our spot was less than desirable and dangerous with speeding cars on road where we exit RV.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful

Beautiful accommodations! The wagon was amazing and roomy. The view was great. The bathrooms were clean. I wish the water pressure was a bit better in the showers but that is the only minuscule fault I could find with our stay. We had a wonderful time!

Started off as a 3 day stay with our brand new Taxa Mantis camper, turned into an 8 night stay. Bathrooms are incredibly clean, campgrounds is super nice, our campsite had an amazing view. The staff was friendly & informative. We will be back, what a fantastic start to our camping adventures!

Traffic was a little noise but the sweet accommodations made up for it! We loved it!

Absolutely the best RV Park I have ever stayed at. The view was priceless, the facilities were immaculate. I've already booked my next stay.

First time staying here. It's Nice it is off the interstate, but the sites nearest the interstate can be a little loud. Bathrooms are very clean and PRIVATE! We hope to come back when its warmer to take advantage of the amenities offered. Highly Recommend!

Sonya, the owner, and staff were pleasant and kind. Recieved clear instructions about campground amenities and directions to our site written on the map. The accommodations were spotless. The Teepee itself was so unique and cozy - really a huge part of the whole experience. Bathrooms were top notch. Well stocked store. Near lots of attractions, good for families. Would *definitely* recommend 10/10

What an amazing, relaxing stay! We were in the area visiting family and decided to splurge and stay in the treehouse cabin. I didn't want to leave!!! Beautiful views at sunset, tons of outdoor space, and stunning interior. Lots for kids to do. (I had to try the jumping pillow for myself! Highly recommend!) The staff are so sweet, especially Lisa. Places like this are why we stay at KOAs and not hotels! Can't beat it!

Had a really nice, level site. Great amenities and the bathrooms are top notch! Only issue we had was with the internet/TV connection. We wound up using our phones as mobile hot spots to watch tv....

Our recent stay at Horse Cave KOA in Kentucky was an extraordinary experience that we highly recommend to anyone looking for an outdoor adventure. Nestled in the heart of nature, this campground not only offers the serenity and beauty one seeks in a getaway but also boasts facilities that are impeccably maintained and staffed by some of the friendliest people we've encountered. What sets Horse Cave KOA apart are its unique accommodations, particularly the teepees and tree houses, which provide a one-of-a-kind camping experience. The teepees offer a fun, traditional, yet comfortable camping vibe, allowing you to connect with the great outdoors without sacrificing comfort. On the other hand, the tree houses are an absolute dream for those looking to elevate their stay—quite literally! Perched among the branches, these accommodations offer stunning views and a tranquil setting that makes you feel as if you've stepped into a fairy tale. The cleanliness of the amenities here deserves a special mention. Whether it was the restrooms, the common areas, or the accommodations themselves, everything was spotless. The proximity to local attractions adds another layer of appeal, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. The Horse Cave KOA provides an unparalleled camping experience that combines the beauty of Kentucky's natural landscapes with the charm of unique accommodations and the warmth of exceptional service. It's a perfect spot for families, couples, and solo adventurers seeking a memorable escape into nature.
