Tent Reviews

It was a great time! Love all the amenities and how clean KOA always is! My only issue (a small one) is that both times we've been to the Harpers Ferry KOA, we've been put in the tiniest spots with hardly enough room for one truck, let alone two. Thankfully both times we've been able to switch spots, I just wish the spots were less crammed together so it's easier to park more than one vehicle

Great experience all around. Location is key being so close to HF and the rivers. Great customer service and staff at the KOA.

Nice helpful staff!! But myself and friends usually stay in tent only camp grounds.

It was great and easy! Great shower!

Great place and great staff. Arcade, basketball quart and general store were above and beyond what I expected.

We stayed two nights and the camp site was fine. We lowered our score because the restrooms were dirty (corners filled with crud), soap dispensers were empty in the lady's room, and the bathrooms needed updating. I don't like to see rotting wood/metal. That just tells me there's no reinvestment at the camp. We liked the location, but do not plan to return to this campground.

It was the first time with this KOA...it was ok we did tent camping...we did get alot of rain not at all the camps fought...but I Did see a few things that were unexceptable The Railing was off to the downstairs game room, and at the top of the steps the guardrail was very loose and being held up with Zipties, very unsafe. The Breakfast was the Best those Ladies did an awesome job.

Everything was amazing. The staff was helpful and friendly. This was my girlfriend's first time camping and I could not have asked for a better experience for her. The bathrooms/showers are clean. The general store is stocked and priced reasonable.

Bathrooms were dirty and shower room was not clean and had cold water and no lights. Not enough water available for tent campers.

Great!

The campground is very conveniently located and our site was fine (tent site). The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the showers were not clean on Saturday morning nor were they cleaned by Sunday. We were possibly the only people to use the showers so it was just that the person charged with cleaning them didn’t do it. On Saturday morning, I had to clean a cigarette butt from the drain.

The camp itself and staff were delightful. There was a big party going on somewhere in the camp that forced us to listen to heavy base most of the afternoon/evening of Saturday. I ready your regulations. One of them says music shouldn't be loud enough to hear at the next campsite. Well, this base was very loud. When I used the bathroom facilities on Sunday, the stall was out of toilet paper.

Kio is horrible for folks who camp with tents. Should quit advertising them as an option. Stick with recreational vehicles.

Stayed here many times in the summer and fall, the whole family has always had a great time.It is our go to spot around Halloween for the festive atmosphere. The cabins are great, and the tent sites are as well.We will definitely be back some time next year

Very dated and dirty bathrooms. We thought paying a yearly fee to be KOA members would result in a cleaner campground to stay at.

Bathrooms were dirty often. The wine tasting was like a seminar. Not relaxed and fun

We had a great time and everything was wonderful. Had a glitch with the guys who bring wood but it was rectified. Everyone was very friendly especially the nice lady at check in wish I knew her name, she was very nice and welcoming! Give her a raise!

Great experience! Clean facilities and so much to do here on the KoA and in walking distance.

We enjoyed our stay. A very nice site. The staff was very friendly.

Staff was nice, and most of the facilities were quite nice. However, the bathrooms (especially showers) had mold growing inside of them

This review has been removed by KOA due to profanity.

Very clean and well maintained property. Would have liked a fire pit at our tent spot but we were there just for a quick overnight stay.

Leaking sewage, consistently no soap and toilet paper in the bathroom. Too expensive for quality of services. Wished there were some organized outdoor activities for kids (esp on a weekday like scavenger hunts). Front office staff not welcoming or particularly helpful. No interest in staying again unless I want to camp with the intent of spending time in Harper's Ferry.

I love the location and the activities offered. The bathrooms and showers were very dated and needed a good cleaning.

First time and surely not last. Easiest way to ease in those not accustomed to camping lifestyle.

I think that the guy who registered me for a night of tenting thought I was unfit for human society. He assigned me the rockiest campsite as far from anyone or any amenities as possible.

Employees were very friendly and helpful. The tent site we were at was not great. The fire ring was half gone, picnic table was in terrible shape. There really should be more restroom facilities closer to the tent sites. It’s quite a walk to either.

Location was great, right at the entrance to the national park. Site was good, bathrooms and showers clean. Nice store, mini golf and jumping pillow for the kids. However, some of the staff was extremely rude. I was very disappointed as we have always had great stays at KOA's, but the attitude and rudeness of several of the staff was unacceptable. Probably will not return due to this.

A bunch of kids were running around the campground screaming and being generally very loud. We arrived around 5:30 and they were still going at it until around 10pm. I called the emergency number twice between 9 and 10

Very nice and quiet. Grounds were well kept, and the staff placed us away from everyone as we requested due to our need to sleep since traveling the U.S.A. We started in Washington state and were on our way back. Thank you!

Lovely and perfect location for all the activities surrounding Harpers Ferry. I walked to White Horse Tavern, River Riders for Tubing and 10X Scoop ice cream (twice). My only negative to not give a full 10+ rating is the tent camping area. I was in a Deluxe (water/elec) tent area and there wasn't much room between other tent sites. Felt cramped. That's it. everything else was wonderful

Usually one of my favorite KOA’s, but it missed the mark this time. Bathrooms were filthy and the guy who checked us in on Friday wasn’t friendly or welcoming

Overall, very good! Family friendly and fun for all. Only thing I would change is that parking at the campsite we were assigned was pretty much non-existent.
Sep 06, 2022
Stay was great! Lots of activities for the kids to do and stay busy! The toilets were clogged in the pool/game room on numerous occasions but were addressed and fixed by the next day.

There was a small child crying the entire evening near our camp site and unfortunately nothing was done.

The deluxe tent sites are too close together. Do not recommend site 127. Lots of flys but overall very quiet and the staff was courteous. Showers were not very clean.

Very fun weekend! We took three teenagers and they had a great time at basketball, volleyball and the arcade. There's a lot for kids to do. We did rafting at River Riders--there is a walking path there from the campground. The only negative is the lack of knowledge of the employees at registration. I called ahead to find out what was there, and they didn't know much. As a result, we brought lots of unnecessary stuff. When checking in, they sent us to the wrong cabin (in a completely different area). Here's some info in case it can help someone be more informed than we were: The camp store is well-stocked. They have all the basics, plus beer and wine. Wood is $7 per bundle and they will deliver to your site. Coffee is available at Grapes and Grinds. The lady that worked there is very knowledgeable--go to her with questions about the area. There are a couple of restaurants that deliver to the campground. Those were advertised on the map we got at registration. The pavilion sells pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage and coffee during the summer season 8-11am. We stayed in cabin KL05. KL01-KL07 are lodges with bathrooms. Don't confuse them with K101, etc. I don't know why they don't change the numbers...the staff can't even keep it straight. Anyway, the ones that start with KL are lodges (L for lodge). Ours was nice, clean and had the most comfortable queen mattress we've found in a campground cabin. Here's what's in the lodge, so maybe you won't have to pack so much: The queen bed is made with clean linens and pillows. There's a set of linens and pillows for the twin beds. All were fresh and clean. We only needed a fitted full sheet to cover the futon. There was a coverlet and pillow for that, but we didn't see any sheets. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom. There are also hotel style shampoos and bar soaps. Bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths are provided. In the kitchen, there is a full-sized refrigerator with top freezer. There's a microwave and two-burner stove. No oven. There's a Kuerig with four pods of various flavors. There are pots and pans, eating and cooking utensils, bowls, a cutting board, cups and glasses, and measuring cups and spoons. There's dish detergent and a clean towel. There are paper towels, toilet paper and two trash bags. Outside there is a fire ring with picnic table. The fire ring has the big grill that flips so it can be over the fire. If you are going to use that, you will probably need a grill brush to clean it. Hope this helps someone pack. Have a great time!

Hands down the best KOA we've ever stayed at. I will say that if you're camping with children this is hands down your best place I've seen in a long time with lots of activities, playgrounds, arcade, and a pool if you're here at the right time of year. The campsites are relatively small which is what I expect from a commercial campground. We did look at a couple of the comfort stations in the bathroom showers are clean and have been updated very well. The camp store is also outstanding and they have an attached theater for kids movies that they show in the evenings. Also during the peak part of the summer they have plenty of help with lots of that planned activities for children and some for adults. One last thing the roads are fairly tight and most spots are back-in so you better be good at maneuvering your trailer.
