Sutton Lake is located near our KOA and offers a peaceful marina to relax and enjoy the water. From the Marina, you can rent boats, kayaks and even jetskis! The lake has beautiful undisturbed wildlife and nature surrounding it making it a great escape to those who are looking for some peace and quiet.

At the West Virginia State Wildlife Center take the interpretative trail 1.25 miles and see animals in their habitat.

The New River Gorge Bridge, located in Fayette County West Virginia is only a 2-hour drive from our campground. It stretches over the New River for over 3000 feet making it one of the longest arched bridges in the world. The hikes around the bridge reward stunning views of the surroundings, so make sure to check them out!

Visit the Flatwoods Monster Museum located on Main Street in downtown Sutton, just two miles from Exit 62 on I-79. The museum has been featured in such programs as Small Town Monster's The Flatwoods Monster: a Legacy of Fear, America's Got Aliens (Hong Kong), Nerdist's Bizarre States, and the Unseen World. Displays include: one of a kind collections and artifacts, historic items, memorabilia, books, and more! Admission is FREE. Souvenirs such as shirts, stickers, shot glasses, and lanterns are available for purchase. The museum also acts as the Braxton County Visitors Center, with area brochures and travel info to help with the rest of your stay and trip.

From a tiny trickle of its headwaters in the heart of West Virginia, to its confluence with the Kanawha River at Charleston, the Elk River meanders 180 miles through forests, farmland and small towns. It is the longest river located entirely within the borders of West Virginia. With many access points to choose from, the Elk River offers floats trips from as short as a half hour to multiple days and everything in between.
Have fun with all your UFO loving friends and visit all FIVE Flatwoods Monster Chairs, located all over Braxton County. Each chair is ten feet tall and four feet wide. Each also features a unique paint scheme. We suggest starting with chair A in Flatwoods (at the location above) and work your way south through the towns of Sutton and Gassaway. At chair A, find an information kiosk which features info on the Flatwoods Monster, the Monster Chairs.
