Looking for an active way to experience Central Iowa this fall? The Living History Farms Race returns November 7, 2026, offering runners a unique five mile course through the historic grounds of Living History Farms in Urbandale.
The race combines running, outdoor recreation and Iowa history for an experience that is different from a typical city road race.
For runners traveling to the Des Moines area, staying at Des Moines West KOA Holiday in Adel can turn race day into a weekend camping getaway. After completing the race, slow down at the campground, explore Adel or discover another attraction around the Des Moines metro.
If you enjoy running, outdoor recreation and camping, this event is worth adding to your November plans.
Check Living History Farms for current registration information, race details and event updates.
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
Make checkout easy by booking all your reservations at once. Add your sites from different campgrounds into your shopping cart* and then choose checkout.
