Campground Reviews

This KOA did not measure up the our experiences with other KOA/s although it was satisfactory. Grounds were not in very good shape and roads were full of pot homes. Rest rooms were clean and nice. Office hours were 9-3, but realize it was still winter schedule here. The check in process was very easy as they had all registered guests check in information available on the outside wall.

The bathrooms were very dirty and unkept. The tent sight that was assigned to us was spacious but the parking was on grass and since it was raining my van got stuck. I needed to do laundry and when I walked into the facility, there was out of order signs everywhere only one washer and one dryer was working. It gave a feeling that they don’t care about the place or how it makes customers feel.

The staff was friendly and the campsites have bushes between sites which provides some privacy (why I gave a 2 vs 1). However, the KOA is poorly maintained -- the roads throughout the KOA had HUGE potholes, the cable TV didn't work (said they were changing owners and didn't think previous owner paid the bill), and only 1 washer of 4 worked and none of the dryers.

Quiet, great location. My son disappointed that the tv didn’t work

We were only there for one night but the lady at the registration desk was super accommodating! So much rain had fallen so there were many sites that had huge puddles and she worked with us to find a suitable one for our stay.

So staying in a cabin, we loved having access to our own bathroom, kitchen, etc. However, there was no heat; there were a few heaters to plug in that popped the breaker. No instructions on how to turn on the burners (we’re campers so we figured it out) and we woke up every morning to ants on the table and counters. It just is not comparable to other KOA cabins we’ve stayed in.

It's a nice quiet place. A bit older and small. But it is close to the Redwoods and Crescent City.

This park has just changed management from what I was told at the office. It is convenient to the Redwood parks and the city. However it does require some significant work to bring it up to KOA standards. All in we did enjoy our stay there, the staff were great.

Restrooms are not maintained, no tissue in the toilet, it’s muddy on the floor, no heater on the restroom. Our heater on our room is also broken, and it’s sooo cold!! They also miscommunicated about our stay, office is closed and they never email us where to get the key. Took us 10min to figure where’s the key! Room was fine, the bed is dirty, I’m glad we brought our own wipes.

We will not return to this KOA location. I booked the "Vacation Rental" but we were placed in a "Deluxe Cabin". When we inquired about the mixup the staff told us the cabins are the same size. They are not. The VR is longer, but more importantly it has a COVERED (and larger) front deck where we had planned to grill. I also paid $150 more for the larger and more convenient space.

I tried to contact the office using the number on the website and in the email but no answer. Tried again, no answer. I needed to check in late and there was no direction on how to do that. I fumbled around in the dark until I found the late check in box. The driving paths were gravel and washed out in places. The cabin was clean. The bathroom was disgusting and 2 out of 3 stalls were out of paper

Campground in the process of selling lots of problems - only way new owner can go is up

I liked the large camp spots, and the proximity to the Redwoods and the coast was convenient.

Location was convenient to Crescent city. The showers were pretty outdated. The one I used did not have a shower head, just out of the pipe. It would have been nice to have an option to buy laundry soap in the facility , since there was a washer and dryer. We had to run in town to get a big bottle of soap. The fire pit was also WAY to close to our trailer. But the kids had fun on the playground.

Campground is rundown, bathrooms were dirty and had no soap, overflowing trash and sanitary napkins trashes. Men’s bathroom door was propped open all day/ night. I was given the wrong codes for bathrooms at check in. Store was empty. Campground has gone downhill, won’t be back.

Friendly check in, but only one bathroom and one washer/dryer. Some pieces of trash left in campsite. Beautiful location but it seems like this location is understaffed.

It was very rainy while we stayed. Our spot was pretty water logged. And there was only one washer, made it a little weird in the laundry room. The area was beautiful and we enjoyed the redwoods.

Our space (201) was a mess. The fire pit and table area were unusable - they were completely flooded. We understand the area is prone to rain, but so should KOA. Proper grading of the site would have made a huge difference.

The campsite was very nice and woody! The facility was nice and the worker was very sweet and kind.

Brief.

Bathrooms are outdated but the water is hot and there is good pressure. The park has lots of trees and it gives you some privacy. The staff is great. Pricing is very affordable.

Staff was kind and restroom and laundry was clean. Site was separated by trees.

They have mud issues on some sites where a little gravel would take care of the problem.

Wish we could have stayed longer

Drive roads in park have many potholes. We had site C07, nice site, plenty long enough for our 37 ‘ coach and tow to fit. No lights in park, so after dark was pitch black. We encountered an atmospheric river….2+ inches of rain in 10 hours! Drenched an already soaked park.

It was good, i have seen cleaner and better KOA's but it wasnt horrible. The worst part is the bathroom/shower had no heater and to top it off I was taking a shower and the worker opened the door and propted it open! It was 30 something outside so I was frozen!!

Pot holes everywhere .site No cable Office closed at 3 pm and no contact #s.

Less than zero to be honest. The washrooms are terrible, stall doors don’t even close properly. The grounds are in horrible shape, potholes everywhere. The kids playground had more landscape cloth visible than the wood chips that should have covered it up. Why can’t all KOA’s have the same standard…like KOA Astoria, absolutely stunning in every regard. This place needs a MAJOR overhaul-sta

The staff member we met was very friendly and upgraded our site for no charge bc they were dealing with issues close to the site we had reserved. The other reviewers are right that there are some uneven patches in the gravel, but it is gravel in a temperate rainforest. The sites are relatively quiet, private, and there are quite a few Coastal Redwoods, both alive and stumps, on the grounds.

Facilities were worse than I expected. Bathrooms need massive repairs. Campsites were pretty flooded after the rain and gravel should be added to them. The so called rec room was the absolute bare minimum and not inviting at all.

The women's showers were in bad shape. One stall was missing a shower head. Another stall did not drain. There was no heat in both the women's and men's bathrooms - uncomfortable when the temperature inside and out was about 50F. The grounds were okay.

The KOA is convenient to town & major sites to see nearby. The staff is extremely helpful & polite. There are many deep potholes that need filling & due to the rainy season more gravel is needed due to the amount of mud. Deluxe sites look nice but some of the standard sites are quite narrow and the fire pits are located right outside & very close to your RVs front door. Laundry repairs needed.

The janitors are rude, used the laundry facilities until 4pm and then LOCKED THE GUESTS OUT I was pissed. The bathrooms NEED rubber backed rugs my mother sloped multiple times. The office staff are so wonderful though kind, helpful, talkative. Good people

No issues with my last visit. Thank you for turning up the shower heat, it was much better on this stay!!

Paid extra for a premium Rv site-the reservation said it was a paved site, it wasn’t, it was a mud puddle, there was no wi-fi despite advertising that there is wi-fi 24/7. Also, bathrooms near our site were closed, only leaving bathrooms at the other end of the campground available. Will not stay again.
