Excellent campground with clean amenities. The rec room is great for the kids, everyone was friendly and respectful. The campsite was clean and offered shade during the afternoon.

Nice facilities but 3 day stay only 3 of the 11 showers were functioning.

Sewer smell was awful! Mouse poop under gazebo, bathroom, no key entry lock, no hot water, toilets poor condition.

The staff was VERY friendly!! That's what I have experienced at all the KOAs. However, the Tent village sites were too small... our tent barely fit. There were other tent sites but I'm not sure if they had electricity, which we needed. No hot water in main building. Diner was closed (seasonal). Just wasn't up to the quality we ate used to at KOA.

Was wonderful experience. Will be doing it again

No hot water in showers. Mens sinks did not work regularly. Tent pavilion a good idea in theory, but carried noise from neighbors. Felt like camping on top of each other. Neighbors played music through Bluetooth speaker with heavy bass frequently and spoke loudly after quiet hours. Constant Highway noise. Not a close location to national park.

very pleased with all the amenities in the tent camping sites, especially the shade! staff was friendly and helpful. enjoyed the rec room!

There were absolutely no trees in the tent camping pad area. We were the only tent there and they put us way out in the hottest site. The website was deceptive as there was no shade and it was ridiculously hot at this time of year.

After asking, we are very appreciative after finding out how hot it was when we arrived to be moved to a tent spot with a little more shade. It made our stay a little more pleasant with two kids who were on their first tent camping road trip. The kids thoroughly enjoyed all the activities available especially when it started to rain! The giant chess board was probably their favorite.

Poor experience - quite bad in fact. Grounds are not as pictured online- deceptive marketing. Tent area covered in ant hills, flies galore due to piles of trash at dumpsters. Bathrooms not cleaned the entire stay and were absolutely disgusting. When we spoke with the front desk we were told they were understaffed and would be cleaned after we left. Left a day early.

It was great. A nice clean campground with lots to do to get out of the heat.

For the most part I enjoyed my stay…BUT the fly problem was of biblical perportions. I asked for some assistance at the counter and was told there was nothing they could do. Everyone in the tent coral was innodated and the could get the area sprayed, or fly strips or light traps. SOMETHING could be done if they wanted to.

I'm sorry to have to say this.... but.... no running water in sink in the bathroom... grounds...... i picked up stuff lafr over from prior campers on my camp site.... would not consider taying there again.... have been to many different KOA's over the last few years that I would love to visit again.... this one.... not!

We were upset that the pool was out of commission but we really liked how the Tent City was set up and the other amenities were well worth the price.

We had a great time, and were happy to stay at the Carlsbad KOA. It was well kept and well managed. The only improvement I would suggest is that some weed spray be done to take care of all the Goat Head weeds. There were so many that we couldn't hardly take a step without getting goat heads in our shoes. All the KOA balls were flat because of it, and our air mattress went flat because of it

I have stayed at many KOAs, and this one left much to be desired in comparison to all the others. It was disappointing to see the pool and shop closed on a holiday weekend that is traditionally a peak camping time. My campsite had trash left from previous camper and severely broken picnic table. Restroom facilities were clean. I should've stayed at the state park instead for the price.

This was our first time staying at a KOA campground. We had an awesome time tent camping in the area with the electricity and water. The staff were very nice and helpful. The facility/restroom were very clean. The kitchen has some challenges, so we didn’t get to try the BBQ (no big deal). The overall experience was great! We will for sure visit again if we are in the area.

Great stay! Clean facilities and very quiet!

The "tent village" site 4 was dirty, full of cobwebs, weeds knee high. Shame on KOA for not preparing for it for our stay. When we asked that they at least weed wack it, they couldn't be bothered. Be aware the tent village is like an echo chamber. You'll hear everything amplified--Your neighbors will sound like they're in your tent with you. Beware Saturday night-party night! Not a peaceful stay.

Overall great - they were willing to move my dog and I to a tent spot that had some shade. I did notice a large amount of foxtails/grass awns in the dog play areas - would suggest a warning sign for pet owners (these can wreak havoc if they embed into the ears, mouth, nose, paws, long fur, etc).

Great location. Lots of activities for the family. Clean facilities friendly staff and even stopping by to see how things are going.

The receptionist was friendly & helpful & we enjoyed the display out front. The store had a good variety of offerings, too. We didn't realize how close the other tenters would be under the pavilion, but were glad of the wind break! The dog parks were tidy & spacious. We liked the covered game and table area; it was still too windy to use our stove at our site. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

What a great place to tent camp. Able to have a fire. The dog park is so nice to have to give our little dog a place off leash.

The team at Carlsbad HOA Holiday is fantastic. We have traveled to hang out there twice within a month from another state and would do it again if time allowed.

Your facility was a wonderful place for both our scouts and their families. Everything was just a short drive away. Thanks for the great hospitality. Scoutmaster Larry Nikolaus

No question this KOA is in a desert gem environment. What a retreat!

Carlsbad KOA has an amazing setup, even with a few unwelcome guests, and is run way better than expectations! The gift shop is also well appointed, and the facilities are clean as a whistle.

So quiet, with so many RVs. I am amazed! Your neighbors need to chill with their light tho

This was my second KOA stay and I was fairly disappointed. The camping area is not the greatest, no privacy at all, bench/table is in poor shape. In comparison to other KOA - Carlsbad KOA is more expensive with less amenities, no filtered water available, coffee and tea for purchase only, dirty showers. I would not stay again.

Stayed in a tent site. Clean campgrounds.
Mar 26, 2023
It is clean and well laid out, but the thing that really struck me was how quiet it was. A lot of campgrounds are right off the highway and trucks and traffic all night can keep you awake. This was very convenient, yet quiet.
Mar 25, 2023
Stayed in the tent village. Most nearby tent campers (separated by wooden fences) didn’t turn down the volume of their conversation, music, or singing, so you could hear everyone’s business. A crying baby kept us awake for two nights. Traffic sounds are consistent. Wish the WiFi reached the tent sites. WIND was destructive. A heads up about wind would have been appreciated. Great shower

Overall, we had a lovely time during our stay. Check-in/out was easy, we loved our tent site, the staff was very kind, and our kids loved the Gaga ball pit/playground. Great location to 3 parks! The only issues were the dirty bathrooms and the kitchen sink—both of which are important for tent campers. Both need a major deep clean. Showers were not touched for days (dirty razor left there, etc

Located a bit north of Carlsbad (which is a bit north of the Caverns), the KOA had nice tent sites, clean restrooms/ facilities, and a great sense of camaraderie among the guests. Would stay there again!
Mar 18, 2023
The site itself was nice but the restrooms were not being cleaned and stocked. They ran out of toilet paper and the sinks in the men's restroom didn't work. The person that helped us seemed very irritated when we first checked-in, not at us, but didn't give us a great impression.

We loved staying here!! It was such an enjoyable experience! The staff were super friendly all week! The bathroom and showers were always clean!! We would get text about the weather warning us of upcoming bad weather!! I would come back again!! Thankful for welcoming these spring breakers!!

The amenities and tent areas were perfect. Only negatives were the paper towel dispenser in the womens barely worked. It would be nice if the store had longer hours. For those who are out on adventure and don't get back till after 6 and leave before 10 we didn't get in the shop but once.

Extremely attentive staff and clean grounds. Thank you KOA Holiday Carlsbad

Great people, great showers, road noise at night, and spiney things in tent area. Lots of family games. Perhaps the best pick if visiting Carlsbad Cavern.

Incredible! As a solo female traveler the hosts were super kind and informative. Not to mention the vast majority of families staying here made me feel like I was staying in a safe established residential neighborhood. Safest stay I’ve ever experienced and I’ve stayed in my fair share of campgrounds. Would 100% stay here again.

We stayed here with our 5th wheel while visiting the Caverns and such. Anyway, the KOA here is “very nice for the area” and I mean that sincerely. It's not a $125/night luxury RV resort, but for the price and location, it's a very nice spot to stay. The spots are almost exclusively pull-thru which is convenient. Every spot has a little grassy area with a tree to the West (blocking some of the sun) and the pads are very level. Power is solid, water is good and drinkable and even sort of far away from the office, the Wi-Fi signal was pretty strong and we could stream without a lot of buffering. There's a road down to the lake that doubles as the “dog walk” - it's a great way to get them out for some exercise before your adventures. Everything is very clean - we didn't use the office-based facilities (pool, showers, etc) but they looked fine. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The downsides are you're staying ~15mi north of Carlsbad and it's another 1/2hr to the Caverns (but the upside is that it's quiet). They have a cockleburr problem that can make it tough on a dog's (or human's) paws…. Overall I would definitely stay here again over the other options in town and closer to the National Park.

We had an awesome time. The only complaint I have, people with dogs didn't pick up after their dogs in the dog park, plus a dog was roaming sind with no leash, and it attacked our dog that was tied down.
