The Carlsbad KOA campground was a decent place to stay near Carlsbad, New Mexico but was definitely in need of some updates throughout the campground. The main office was also only open from 10am to 6pm each day, which made for a difficult check-in and check-out process since the limited hours impacted travelers with plans to explore the area throughout the day.

Well first it seemed good but as we were packing up our tent and all our stuff we noticed that there were items missing from my car which im very pissed about We are visiting my father in Georgia.driving all the way from Oregon and I had some gifts for him and his wife. But not anymore because they were stolen out of my car. I can’t believe people this is possibly the last time I see him alive.

We were disappointed in the facility- it was further than we realized from the Caverns which was our mistake - but then the pool was closed even though the website said it opened mid- May. There really wasn’t much to do and the bathroom wasn’t very well maintained. There was no water in the campground either.

Was an incredible setup, super friendly, the vent area with the cover/outlets was really nice too for a longer camper adventure and being able to charge our cameras. Shower, food on site!

The location is good and the amenities were good. However, the person manning the checkin register was not very helpful or accomodating. We got a tent site that had absolutely no shade and when I asked about switching to another site (several were not occupied) she told me that they were completely booked and that was great for them but sucks for me. Also the gift shop was woefully understocked.

Long walk to the bathroom. Showers were mostly clean. Toilet had a ring around the waterline. Guest next to us had an off-leash dog that charged my husband on his way back from the showers. Other than that, peaceful stay!

We selected a "premium" tent site, and the actual site was horrible...overgrown grass and disrepair. There was a winch strap holding up the roof next to our site, which concerned us whether we would be safe. We then requested a cabin and the manager said the cabins were not clean and unavailable. I was disappointed we could not upgrade.

Only stayed for one night arriving late and leaving midmorning but it was clean and well organized! Pretty spot and close enough for access to Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains and a little further away White Sands National Park.

This is such a cool place to stay! I absolutely loved it I slept really well. the facilities were clean and the hosts were all incredible. Can't wait to come back!

Stayed 3 nights in TV-3 tent spot - the facilities there need some annual maintenance; paint and wood protection. The water facet dripped a little and had significant calcium buildup on the treads - could not completely hookup a hose, so it too leaked. The section next to ours, the light fixture bleeds light over the fence - I had to ask them to turn off the light after 10pm - rework the lights.

Major plumbing issues. The sewage backed up into the bathroom. The next day the sewage was gone, but no one had mopped up the floor. They watered my tent area so heavily that I really wasn’t able to use that area. I almost fell in the slippery mud. I told the person at the office, but they just said sorry.

The bathrooms were okay at best (more cleaning is needed and general updates would be a good move) and the potable water had a milky white color and a texture to it at the camp sites that made me pause. I would have hoped that the bathrooms would be serviced more frequently and filters would be applied to all potable water sources or have a central filtration system as it was concerning.

We tent camped at Carlsbad KOA, our reservation was for a tent site but they booked us a pop up camping site. Ended up working out great because there was covered sitting area and a fence that provided more privacy than at the tent site. Bathrooms were clean enough and the play room for the kids provided a much needed break from the 40mph winds.

Great place. My only comment was there was really loud music till about midnight. Not sure if it was coming from within the campsite or outside of it, but it did keep the kids up for a bit.

Check in was simple and easy, greeted and had a great experience. At first it was nice to have the tents close to the bathrooms until you realize it’s one was in and out so you are listening to vehicles of all types going in and out. The other part is that there really isn’t any grass in the tent area, mostly dirt and some rock. I’m also a fan of the co-ed bathrooms, I feel they stay cleaner

You need to put a bathroom closer to the tent site. The closet location is at the office. It could go next to the k9 camp

We stayed 2 nights in a tent with our motorcycle. We didn’t have time to use the pool or giant chess like we wanted to but love the store and all the amenities that are offered if you have time for them. The showers were perfect. A very well taken care of, quiet, clean camp ground!

The worst KOA we’ve stayed at. Still claiming to be award winning is a joke. Toilets and washing machines out of order and the pool has also been out of use for a year based on other reviews?? Very rundown. No drinking water or anywhere to wash dishes. The area had litter all over the place. We checked in late, but no courtesy call to tell us what to do when we arrived.

Well kept and clean KOA surrounded by Pecan trees and the lake. The kids loved the playground and making new friends on the site. We were in a bind and asked KOA manager for help and she solved our problem right away, thanks Kat and Rachel!

We chose to stay two nights specifically for the pool but the pool was closed and we were not told beforehand. The mosquitoes were so bad we were unable to stay even one night and packed up and left in the middle of the first night.

No hot water in main shower house. Small shower house had hot water and no AC. Like a steam bath. Pool closed. Needs lots of work

Tent camped for one night during a road trip. Location was convenient for our route. Were really looking forward to swimming, but upon arrival found out the pool was closed for repair. The closer showers were also out of order. Tetherball was broken as well. Nowhere to refill water or wash dishes. Kids loved the giant chess set, gaga ball, basketball, and the Foosball table.

I give it a 2 because the staff was the only bright spot for the site. Everything on the site was broke. Pool, volleyball court, basketball court, wallyball, hot water in main area and the general shape was not very good. The staff was pleasant and helpful when I checked in but for what is being charged to the customer I’d expect a better camp ground.

Tent spots was very large and close to the bathroom, however was infested with ants. Bathrooms also had a clogged sink, empty soap/paper towels dispensers, and lacked hot water for showers

No hot water first day of camping..okay fine. Next morning NO water at all on camp ground..packed up early and left. Although on surface things looked fine we noticed pool was disguising. I booked with KOA b/c of known for safety, cleanliness but totally disappointed. No emergency number provided at campground to report no water, no recycling and no proper garbage bins, community sink filthy.

First, the positives: to Kat in the office, thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality displayed during check in. You made the stay very nice. We appreciate you! The overall campground is pretty clean and has nice large open spots for an RV stay. The dog park was enclosed with a fence and the playground was fun for the kids. Overall a nice, quiet campground. Additionally, when I called to let them know we were coming in early we were allowed to park in the overflow area until our site opened up. On the cons, the drinking was disgusting. So, plan accordingly if you come out. The location is much further than expected from the Caverns(although I should have looked at this closer in my planning) about an hour away. The pool was not open and did not plan to open until after Memorial Day although it was already super hot out.

Quiet, it is quiet at night and I like it. Standard rock pull through with 50amp, water & sewer. Shade tree at my site. Cable is available as is WiFi at no charge. Pool, kitchen and club house. I was greeted kindly with a smile and a good attitude. If we are back this way I'd definitely stay again.
