RV Reviews

We enjoyed our stay, and the people who worked there were wonderful! The gravel roads were hard on our dogs' feet, and the distance from Carlsbad was something of a turn-off, ALTHOUGH it put us on our way when we left in a good way! KOA is a class outfit!

some bathrooms didn’t work, Some where just not level. Park stank like open sewer. Wifi is very bad. Park needs new ownership and investment money. Do not stay at this camp site. Sleep at a rest stop or walmart first. I’ve never left a bad review at a KOA. Maybe just close this one and bulid another.

Would have rated it 5 except for the dirt bike and go cart running through the campground kicking up dust and disrupting noise. It was not campers but staff.

Nice wide sites, level ground and everything else you look for at a KOA. Location is great with respect to area attractions.

Only there one night, but great spot. Quiet, large spaces, very clean, nice dog park.

We found the Carlsbad KOA to be very accommodating, we loved the spacious drive through sites, the large rec room, and the very friendly staff. We had exceptionally cold weather for several days, the staff did their best to prepare the campers. They had a nicely maintained dog park and we enjoyed the close proximity to 4 National Parks. Thanks to the staff- Mel, Kat, Will, Josh, Amanda

Too isolated. It is 45 minutes from the caverns & 25 from town. The sites are large which is great & the laundry was very nice. There is SO much that could be done with this park since it is a "Holiday" rating. Why isn't there a fenced dog area, K9 camp? A jumping pillow or better playground structures would be nice. We were there in winter so the pool was cold but it was VERY small.

Nice park. Large enough sites for big rig. Make sure to bring whatever to park, is out a ways from towns. The BBQ food was really good at moderate price. Would recommend if driving to attractions isn't an issue for you.

This KOA has the best laundry facilities of and KOA I have ever used. Friendly staff and well maintained camp sites.

No hot water in main bath so 3 showers in small old building for whole campground. Girl checking us in had no personality talked like a robot. Took our small dog to pet walk and some Great Dane tried to get at her by jumping over fence, had to leave. Was scheduled to stay 3 nights, wanted to cancell the last night and she wouldn’t reimburse so we forfeited our night and left.

Clean and quiet. They said they had internet but neither wife nor I could connect.

Very accessible and clean! Able to book last minute for our cross country stay!

Carlsbad KOA is a fantastic place to camp near the National Park and State Park and lake reservoir. RV spots are spacious and offer easy hook-up. Great amenities for pets. We loved how clean, safe, and comfortable this KOA was.

Great spaces. Roomy, level, groomed gravel. Good hookups and picnic table and fire ring. THE BAD: None of the amenities worked! No pool, no hot water, water feature defunct. Bathrooms smelly and in poor cond. For real? How much can a new shower curtain cost?! Remote bathrooms need torn down and rebuilt. KOA should not allow “#1in New Mexico”! Maybe 20 years ago but not in 2025

Camping tranquille. Très venteux lors de notre passage. Pas d’eau chaude dans les douches. Le wifi n’est pas très bon.

Great location, awesome staff!

This is by far the WORST KOA I have ever stayed at. No hot water in the main shower house because their 30 year old boiler stopped working. Alternate shower house was a pit: toilets that would not flush, sinks that would not drain, sinks that leaked all over the floor. Doors off hinges. Door handles that were loose. Floors were gross and looked moldy. Most of the staff were inattentive.

Great place and very clean!

Everything was as described. Very clean and the Laundry was excellent. Also the people very friendly and helpful.

First off, we didn’t realize that you were that many miles away from town and you should let people know the second is that the main restrooms were closed so we went to the other restrooms and one of the sinks was leaking in cabin number two and it looked like it needed to be cleaned

Sorry, I wish I could be more complimentary but this RV Park needs some love. The facilities are very worn and in need of repair and or replacement. A deep clean, coat of paint and basic maintenance would go a long way until they can be replaced. More signage is needed on the road to the lake, easy to get turned around.

The attendants (owners?) that work in the office for this flat, grave, and treeless site were very friendly. There are two working bathrooms but only one had working showers with clean fixtures and good hot water. They do need to be refreshed (the pipes were loose and there was standing water on the floor.) There is a convenient on-site restaurant with typical short-order food.

Nice place, clean and far enough out of town to be away from city noise.

Outstanding service. Kept us informed on the improvements. Huge, level sites. You are not on top of your neighbors. Walked us thru a cold snap, lows in the 20s. Told us about the high calcium in the water and what to do about it.

Another fab stay at the KOA. Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome

It could be a nice location if maintained and run better. The gravel site was mostly level with FHUs. However, the bathrooms were not clean and had non-functioning faucets. And there was no hot water, so no showers. We would have appreciated being told that at check-in. We choose KOA for the amenities, but deserved a refund for this location.

Looks better on picture than in person. Gopher holes everywhere. No hot water(30 year old boiler) in one shower cabin, frozen pipes in the other. Campground not outfitted for weather. Black mold in the bathrooms due to poor ventilation. No heat in the bathrooms either. No wash bay of any kind for boats, utvs or vehicles but they are on the lake. Hmmm? Management has ties with trashy residents.

Clean showers, friendly staff, lots of room to roam and play. Thank you!

Our short stay of two days was great. Easy check in. The place is clean and even had a kitchen that fix meals and deliver to your site. Stayed in Janurary 2024, had a 5th wheel.

Very nice set up. Sites were clearly marked, level and very spacious. They had all of the amenities that you would need including propane. Friendly staff. Nice place to stay over for the night.

The site was ok , for the RV. The picnic tables need to be replaced even putting a cloth on them. They’re warped and splinters everywhere. The main bathhouse looked really nice but we could not use the showers because they said the boilers were three months to be ordered. So they did have three other bathrooms one not working the two that were working were filthy dirty and had black mold all ov

Showers need up date.

Stayed 3 nights in our motor home with tow vehicle. Pull through site was level and service utilities in very good condition. We used laundry facilities which were clean. Location is midway between Carlsbad and Artesia, very close to Brantley Lake State Park. We visited Carlsbad Caverns and both cities. Staff was helpful and courteous. Only drawback is the entire park is gravel and dusty.

Staff was not ready with our welcome packet. But that wasn’t a huge issue. Sites were nice. Bathrooms were full of black mold on the ceilings and walls, which was gross and is bad for health. Floors bubbling up in bathrooms. Needs to be remediated.

Nice receptionist. The shower was hot…..yay!!! They have a small guest food service that will deliver meals. Great place for our dogs too.

The park was nice and clean. Checking in after dark had some difficulties locating the bathroom. There is no outside lighting on the back side of the office where the bathrooms are located. There are lights but they weren’t turned on or maybe the bulbs needed replacing. I was unable to let the office know due to us leaving and returning to the park before and after office hours.

Good spot, even met a family friend I hadn't seen since childhood here - small world!

First, the positives: to Kat in the office, thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality displayed during check in. You made the stay very nice. We appreciate you! The overall campground is pretty clean and has nice large open spots for an RV stay. The dog park was enclosed with a fence and the playground was fun for the kids. Overall a nice, quiet campground. Additionally, when I called to let them know we were coming in early we were allowed to park in the overflow area until our site opened up. On the cons, the drinking was disgusting. So, plan accordingly if you come out. The location is much further than expected from the Caverns(although I should have looked at this closer in my planning) about an hour away. The pool was not open and did not plan to open until after Memorial Day although it was already super hot out.

Quiet, it is quiet at night and I like it. Standard rock pull through with 50amp, water & sewer. Shade tree at my site. Cable is available as is WiFi at no charge. Pool, kitchen and club house. I was greeted kindly with a smile and a good attitude. If we are back this way I'd definitely stay again.
