This KOA is located out of town. It is 20 miles from Carlsbad and another 1/2 hour from The Caverns. There are other parks closer to the caverns. The pool is a little on the small side. I called the office to book a buddy site, using both our names so we could pay individually. When we got there it was only in one name and could not be changed. The people were friendly.

Customer service was not to good, first time experience bad customer service at a koa all there site was to be save for family and the rest of the site are save for late arrive. we was trying to pick certain site we finally got a site, we woke up the next morning there was no one in those sites the ground was empty except the people who live there.

The Carlsbad KOA campground was a decent place to stay near Carlsbad, New Mexico but was definitely in need of some updates throughout the campground. The main office was also only open from 10am to 6pm each day, which made for a difficult check-in and check-out process since the limited hours impacted travelers with plans to explore the area throughout the day.

Pool hours were ridiculous for a town that reach temps of 115 degrees opened at 11:00 am closed at 6:00 pm If you’re out exploring the area attractions and wanted to relax and cool down after wards not enough time it was explained it closed early for cleaning and maintenance which didn’t happen I have pictures of trash, leaves, broken boards fencing falling apart incorrect signs of hours

I have been a KOA member for several years and was very disappointed in this location. We arrived at 12:30 and were told we couldn’t check in til 2. The place was almost empty and our site was ready. I was given 2 options go unhook in the parking lot or pay an early check in fee. Outrageous! When we got to our site it and the whole park was overgrown with weeds and grass . Won’t return he

Not a holiday quality KOA. Pool closes at 6 is not summer appropriate. Bathrooms weren’t clean. Dog run overgrown and poop

This is the nicest RV park in the Carlsbad area. Well maintained with nice amenities. It is a bit of a drive into town though and when it rains the dog park gets pretty muddy, but overall we had a wonderful stay and will stay here again in the future.

The rec center and facilities were a wonderful feature, open 24 hours. The pool was a perfect spot to cool off. All facilities were clean throughout our stay.

Lock on pool gate is hard to open,should be replaced.We reported it to the office.WiFi was mostly not accessible,but we were aware of it,because at check in the staff was telling us ,they upgrading it to fiber optic.Overall pleasant stay,clean and friendly staff.Location is remote.

Well first it seemed good but as we were packing up our tent and all our stuff we noticed that there were items missing from my car which im very pissed about We are visiting my father in Georgia.driving all the way from Oregon and I had some gifts for him and his wife. But not anymore because they were stolen out of my car. I can’t believe people this is possibly the last time I see him alive.

Great place to stay in the Carlsbad area. Check in was easy and she explained everything very thoroughly. Will definitely stay there again when I'm the area.

Level site. Good size two dog parks. No WiFi, but told about that when checking in. Areas around dog parks needed weeds trimmed and numerous spots throughout the park needed to be mowed. Park under new management so maybe haven’t had time to take care of these issues. Only gave this rating because of lack of WiFi and weeds.

Very nice park but a little far from eateries and groceries. Could utilize shady sites better (less shady for 1-2 nighters, more shady for 3 or more); camp store could be better stocked. Staff were helpful and nice; beautiful views; great amenities overall. Thank you!

The folks working there, particularly the manager were amazing. My AC failed and they let me move to an air conditioned cabin at the last minute. I really appreciate the accommodations.

We were disappointed w/ the campground. The main reason we chose to stay here was for the pool & we were told that they were working on getting the pH right. But, we never saw anyone working on the pool and a gentleman told us he had been there for 3 days and they told him the same thing. Also, the campground itself was not well cared for. Overgrown grass and weeds everywhere. Disappointing!

Even with the lower and water outage and my fall off the stairs this was a wonderful stay, will be recommending. Wonderful staff, clean bathrooms and rec room.

Pool was closed, showers are dirty, spaces for RVs need to be mowed and weeds removed, called for dinner delivery and was told that they are closed even when 2 employees were riding around in a golf cart all day and another one on the phone in the rec area far from what it claimed online. Very disappointing!!!

Pool was closed. We booked are stay 5 months in advance. Requested shade with patio, NADA ALL FRACKING SUN. Did not tell us we could move to a site we requested even though the site we asked for was vacant the next day. WORST FRACKING KOA WE EVER STAYED AT, and have been staying at RV Parks from 1996. To far from town. I would give it a zero 00000000000000000000000000000

Very quiet and clean. Full hook ups worked great. An animal got into all the trash cans around the park so we took our trash with is. But it was a nice place to stay overnight on our way home.

Pool out of order. Volleyball court was overgrown when we arrived & had mesquite shrubs in it. After we complained the court was mowed including just moving mesquite shrubs. Not good since now large mesquite thorns were scattered on the court. Restrooms were clean however commode’s needed maintenance as the tanks didn’t flush properly without removing the tank lid & working on float & flappe

I rented a single room cabin for a late night arrival while traveling through the area. I was not aware that the bed would not have any sheets or blankets, and was fairly uncomfortable as well. Miserable nights sleep. Showers / restroom could use some cleaning and updating.

Staff was only onsite from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Unfortunately, the pool was closed for our entire stay (2 nights, 3 days). We were informed that the pool, food options, and camp store were only available during office hours. We were also told the pool was closed because the chemical levels could not be properly balanced. This was disappointing, as these amenities were a factor in choosing this KOA

We were disappointed in the facility- it was further than we realized from the Caverns which was our mistake - but then the pool was closed even though the website said it opened mid- May. There really wasn’t much to do and the bathroom wasn’t very well maintained. There was no water in the campground either.

Absolutely awful. Lots of dog poop in dog park. Dead bird in campsite. Dead tree branches hanging from trees. Weeds everywhere. Grass/weeds so thick you have to wade through them to get to picnic table. Staff never stop by and check in, super unfriendly. Absolutely the worst one we have ever stayed at.

(-) Pool never opened during our 6 night stay across Memorial Day weekend. Grounds are not well kept. Staff in shop unfriendly. (+) Rec room and outside games were fun. KOA is set back from highway so traffic noise was low. We brought dual filter water softener to counter the hard water noted in other reviews.

First, the positives: to Kat in the office, thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality displayed during check in. You made the stay very nice. We appreciate you! The overall campground is pretty clean and has nice large open spots for an RV stay. The dog park was enclosed with a fence and the playground was fun for the kids. Overall a nice, quiet campground. Additionally, when I called to let them know we were coming in early we were allowed to park in the overflow area until our site opened up. On the cons, the drinking was disgusting. So, plan accordingly if you come out. The location is much further than expected from the Caverns(although I should have looked at this closer in my planning) about an hour away. The pool was not open and did not plan to open until after Memorial Day although it was already super hot out.

Quiet, it is quiet at night and I like it. Standard rock pull through with 50amp, water & sewer. Shade tree at my site. Cable is available as is WiFi at no charge. Pool, kitchen and club house. I was greeted kindly with a smile and a good attitude. If we are back this way I'd definitely stay again.
