The White River and shade trees at the KOA are awesome bird habitat, where numerous songbirds nest.  In addition to the thousands of cliff swallows along the river, there are resident turkeys, owls and songbirds.  The White River basin is a migratory flyway for sandhill cranes, sandpipers and ducks.  Bald eagles and red-tailed hawks visit regularly.
