We are thrilled to welcome campers back to the Asheville East KOA Holiday! We are reopening following an intense cleanup effort and recovery from the disastrous flooding of Hurricane Helene. While spirits are high, there are a few key things you should know when planning your visit to Asheville:
Campground Changes
Campers should know that a smaller amount of campsites are available for 2025. We will reopen with 64 RV Sites available for both short-term and long-term camping. While fewer sites will be available, but we're happy to share that many will look different! Some of our most popular riverfront sites in the A & B section have been expanded, offering each camper more space to spread out. Many sites in the B section have a new layout with larger sites and additional pull-thrus. You can view our available campsites on our site map.
While there will not be any cabins or tent sites available initially, we do hope they will return! We consider the reopening of Asheville East KOA only the first phase of our plans. We hope to introduce many more sites and improvements over time.
We also ask for your understanding as our staff manages the campground from a temporary office building. We will provide a limited number of items for sale in a scaled-down General Store. We'll do our best to stock your favorite items!
Limited Recreation Available
We will have plenty of summertime fun, as well as our campground's playground and recreation area with basketball courts. We hope to add more recreation over time, but we are so grateful that we can have our campground open!
While we focus on the continued cleanup and restoration efforts, please understand that we must reduce the number of campground activities and events. Consider your invitation to spend more time exploring the community - our favorite local businesses could really use your support!
Local Attractions & Towns
Let us make one thing exceptionally clear - The Asheville community is thrilled to welcome you back! Local businesses and area attractions are eager to open their doors once again and will be so thankful for your support and patronage. While you're likely to find that many of your favorite breweries, Asheville attractions, and restaurants have reopened, it's important to research how their business may look a little different this year. We've gathered a few of our favorite stories of resilience and revitalization in this blog post. Be sure to plan some time to explore nearby Black Mountain, NC - the local shops will be glad to see you!
Our Progress
There is still a lot of work to be done on the campground, but we are getting closer each day! As the project continues, we will share regular updates on our Facebook page. Follow us for updates!

The campground is taking shape! Following our cleanup efforts after Hurricane Helene, we are working to make the campground beautiful! Gravel has been laid on the campground roads and site pads. Today, teams are working to hydroseed new grass throughout the campground. This is just the beginning as we gear up for a reopening this Memorial Day!
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
