Fido Friendly Activities

Fur babies are family too. We totally get it! We welcome four legged campers to Harrisonburg/Shenandoah Valley KOA! Their well behaved humans are welcomed too!

Your pooch will love romping around our K9 dog park, sniffing our dog walk, & exploring miles worth of trails in our backyard!

We created a list of local to-do's if you're still seeking adventure.

Most of the trails in the Shenandoah National Park are pet friendly!  That is a big deal considering not many National Parks are fido friendly. Just keep doggo on a leash and as always pick up after them. Check it here for tips and a list of the top dog friendly hikes in the Park.

On your way back to the campground, drop by Elkton Brewing Company and kick it with the pup on the patio. If a train happens to pass by the building…the bell rings and everyone celebrates - It’s “Chugga-Chug” time. The brewery's unique special 10% off beer for every train that rolls by!

If dog parks and off leash hangs are your pup’s thing, we recommend Smithland Road Dog Park, which has a huge off leash area for both big and small. A perfect stop if you’re on your way to explore downtown Harrisonburg.

Walk the beautiful farm, smell and harvest lavender, then sample wines at White Oak Lavender Farm & The Purple Wolf Tasting Room. All with your furry pal by your side! Little humans will love the Lavender Ice Cream and 21+ human will delight in wine slushes.

Outside grounds of Luray Caverns is a dog friendly! They offer free kennels for the big dogs and allow you to carry small dogs through the cave tour.

Grab a table at Crosskeys Vinyard’s beautiful patio oasis. Your table is surrounded by breathtaking vineyard and mountain views. On top of refreshing estate wines to sample, the Bistro menu is top notch. Time this for sunset and you won't regret it.

Owners of Brother’s Craft Brewery are most definitely dog owners and lovers as your bestie is invited on the patio and taproom.  Doggo is allowed to join you for a brew outside of Pale Fire Brewery. Fan of music? Listen out for their “96 Songs” rotating playlists of 96 songs created by their friends of all favorites.

However you and your best pal spend the day, they'll be snoozing to campfire crackles by your private outdoor oasis.
