Mexican Pizza Pitas
Ingredients
Makes 4
- 3/4 pound(s) ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3/4 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 8-oz. bottle of salsa
- 4 large or 8 small pita bread rounds
- 1 4-oz. can chopped green chilies, drained
- 1 2 1/4 oz. can sliced olives, drained
- 1 c shredded Monterey Jack cheese (4 oz.)
Preparation
In a skillet cook ground beef and onion till meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain well. Stir in sugar, chili powder and garlic salt. Spead some of the salsa on each pita. Top with the meat mixture, green chilies, olives and cheese. Place on preheated baking sheet or directly on oven rack. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or till pita bread is hot and cheese is melted.
