Grilled Meatloaf

We learned how to make this in a Boy Scout leaders cooking class. We have not cooked meatloaf in the house again!


  • Flat fish basket
  • 1 1/2  pound(s)  Ground Sirloin (or lean ground beef or turkey)
  • 1  can Hunts Meatloaf Fix'ns Tomato Sauce
  • 1  small can Mushrooms
  • 1/2  c  Finely chopped Onions
  • 1  c  Shredded Cheese - your favorite (more if desired)
  • Salt
  • Pepper


Mix the tomato sauce, beef, onions, salt and pepper as desired. Flatten out on wax paper, sprinkle with cheese and mushrooms. Fold or roll into bundle that will fit into your fish basket. If you can refrigerate overnight or for a couple of hours it is easier to handle. Ideal if you can prepare at home and take with you frozen. Cooking time may need to be adjusted if still partially frozen when you're ready to grill.

Cook 40 minutes (may vary due to thickness of bundle), turn often.
