Frogmore Stew


Makes 810

  • 16  c  water
  • 1/4  c  Old Bay seasoning
  • 2  lemons
  • 2  onions
  • 4  pound(s)  small red potatoes
  • 2  pound(s)  spicy smoked link sausage
  • 6  ears fresh corn
  • 4  pound(s)  large shrimp (unpeeled)
  • garlic (optional)
  • seasoning salt
  • seafood cocktail sauce
  • tartar sauce


Cut the lemons and onions in half, cut the sausage into1 inch pieces, then cut corn into thirds. Bring the water to a boil in a large pot. Squeeze the lemon juice into the water and then throw the lemon halves in the pot. Add onion, garlic, salt and Old Bay seasoning. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the potatoes, corn and sausage, and return to a boil. Simmer covered for 30 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in the shrimp, and cover for 5 minutes. Drain off the liquid before serving. Serve with cocktail or tartar sauce and crackers.
