Description: Coastal Urge's Eighth Annual Cold Stroke Classic will be held on the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway off Wrightsville Beach. With 2 divisions, paddlers can opt to do the 3.5 mile Recreational course or the 7 mile Elite course. Throughout the day there will be an exhibitor's expo open to the public with free demos. Enjoy the Annual Polar Plunge along with the 5K Run-N-Plunge at Kure Beach! With the annual 5K Run-N-Plunge, shivering plungers brave cold conditions and dive into the chilly Atlantic Ocean after completing a 5K winding through the beach. Contestants are encouraged to dress up and find their inner superhero! There will be a pre-race auction, a costume contest, food and of course the plunge at the end of the race. Contestants can opt for the 5K Run-N-Plunge, a 1-mile fun walk or just the plunge but no matter what you choose to participate in, the day is sure to leave you smiling!
Art for All, a unique and creative art show! Happening on Saturday, February 17, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday, February 18, from Noon- 5 p.m. Admission to the show is $5 at the door—good for both days and includes a raffle ticket (kids 12 and under are free). Parking in the North Fourth neighborhood is free. Local Wilmington food trucks, BAC cash bar, and over 50 vendors all in one place! We can't wait to see you at the BAC!

Experience marathon madness at the beach with the 9th Annual Wrightsville Beach Marathon, a winner of the Southeast Tourism Top 20 events! This exciting event draws a variety of runners from all over the country to compete and has the added bonus of being a Boston Marathon qualifying event and an USATF certified qualifier. The new course for the full marathon starts at the beach and runs through Landfall and finishes at the UNCW Campus. Make plans now to participate in or watch the "madness".
Get ready for the fourth annual fat tire bike race on beautiful Wrightsville Beach! The US Open Fat Tire Cross Beach Championship will consist of a large lap which will take racers from the thick sand to the hard packed sand along the water's edge. There are three Categories: The Fat (12+ miles), The Really Fat (18+ miles), and the Super Fat (24+ miles). While all bikes are allowed to race, bikes with tires over 4” wide are recommended. The North Carolina Azalea Festival “Loop The Lake” Extended 5K/10K/1 Mile Fun Walk is an annual event hosted by the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. Kids, dogs, and costumes are welcome!All proceeds from this event benefit the Cape Fear Volunteer Center Big Buddy Program. Big Buddy is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches “at-risk” youth ages 6-16 in New Hanover County and Brunswick County with positive adult role models. Youth are identified as “at-risk” due to the following circumstances: involvement with the juvenile justice system, excessive in-school and/or out-of-school suspensions, poor academic performance, and lack of positive role models. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center is a 501c3 and works to recruit and train volunteers, match volunteers with youth, offer support and guidance through case management, and provide monthly group activities.
The 2018 Carolina Cup is the official start of SUP race season with six races charted through the waters surrounding beautiful Wrightsville Beach! Races include a kid's course, Harbor Island Recreational "fun" race, the Money Island Open Race and the ultimate challenge of the 13.2 mile Elite Graveyard Race. Also in store for the weekend, enjoy the Outrigger Harbor Island Race and the Red Paddle Company Dragon Race. Now in its eighth year, this competition has grown to be one of the largest and most competitive SUP races in the world with over 800 athletes competing.
