Get ready for the annual fat tire bike race on beautiful Wrightsville Beach! The US Open Fat Tire Cross Beach Championship will consist of a large lap which will take racers from the thick sand to the hard packed sand along the water's edge. Take this opportunity to explore one of the most reportedly haunted locations! This is a special two in one event. It includes an overnight investigation taking place the night of the Azalea Festival fireworks display over the Cape Fear River. Viewing of the fireworks will be from the fantail of the ship, certainly a prime location, and then participants will break up into small groups to begin the investigation for paranormal activity. Previous paranormal experiences have occurred after a fireworks display. The investigation will continue until morning. Those that cannot stay up all night will have the unique opportunity to sleep aboard the ship.

The 2019 Carolina Cup is the official start of SUP race season with six races charted through the waters surrounding beautiful Wrightsville Beach! The Safari Hunt is like an underwater Easter egg hunt at the Liberty Shipwreck off Wrightsville Beach, NC. Divers hit the water to search for numbered tokens that are hidden on the 400' wreck. Each diver is allowed a maximum of three tokens. After the dive, everyone heads back to the prize area where the token number is called for a prize! The annual pier-to-pier swim. With an approximate distance between Johnnie Mercers Pier and Crystal Pier being 1.7 miles, the race is just under 2 miles along with a beach start and finish. Race direction is determined on race day and announced at check-in. Race swim caps and timing chips are provided. Awards will be given for overall male & female and overall masters (40+) male & female along with Top 3 in several age categories. One of the most renowned Rugby Tournaments in the country, Cape Fear 7's, is one of the nations largest Summer 7's tournaments. This 45th Annual event features one of the most competitive premiere divisions and hosts several hundred players from teams from across the country and around the world. Competitors start out with a 375 meter ocean swim. Upon exiting the water, participants put on their running gear at the "Beach Transition Area" and run 1.5 miles to the "Bike Transition Area". Participants then complete a 20K bike ride on a closed course (no traffic). Then it's back on with the running gear for the 1.5 mile run back to the "Beach Transition Area". Participants complete the race by once again swimming the 375 meter course.

Accept the open water challenge of the 14th Annual Pier-2-Pier Swim Race at beautiful Wrightsville Beach. This annual event entails swimming approximately 1.7 miles between Johnnie Mercer's Pier and the Crystal Pier around marker buoys. The starting point for the race will be determined on race day in accordance with the ocean current.

Join the celebration of the three B's-- Beach, BACON and Beer! The PPD IRONMAN 70.3 North Carolina triathlon will take place on much of the same course as its bigger sibling and will feature a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run.
