Campground Reviews

The activities are downhill from the RV campsites. You have to walk down the main street that runs through the campground to get to them, and you have to walk up the same road/hill to reach the office. Not good for small kids. There is a staircase within walking distance but the steps are too steep. The bathrooms and showers need lots of TLC. The staff is friendly but goes too fast on their carts!

This KOA was a great experience! Wild Peacock families living amongst the campers, beautiful scenery of mountains and plants, tons of genuinely fun activities. One of the best KOA's I've visited. Everything was convenient and fun. The staff was so friendly and helpful, especially during the SOAR adventure course, the staff was essential! I am amazed at what my family did! 10/10! A very happy KOA!

Very nice people working there. The trash always seemed to be full.

It was great, just wish the men’s restrooms were all functioning and that the mirror was not removed

Staff was welcoming and helpful. Facilities were very well maintained and the range of activities and amenities on site made our visit, with multiple families, truly enjoyable and memorable.

I was very upset that the pool closed down on one of the hottest days of our stay. I have 2 small children and specifically picked this KOA for the pool. It ruined our entire day and unfortunately the family was very miserable.

Every single trash can and dumpster was over flowing with trash and had bags stacked around it and nothing was collected while we were there. Our campsite was right next to a trash. Additionally there was loose boards and trash all over our site. The bathrooms were very unkempt. I called the office and no answer, walked up and no one there even though the hours were said to be open.

Spacious, clean, beautiful premises

The campground is ok but the common areas are not as well. The restrooms and showers are insufficient and dirty, the swimming pool is super dirty and there are many people drinking, eating and with music very loud. There are written rules everywhere but many people don’t follow them and nobody of the staff says anything.

Drive through sire had a ditch you had to pull through. Bathrooms are away from most campers and very cramped when trying to shower. Just okay but expected better.

Love this place! Our favorite campground to go with our grandkids. So much for the kids to do. The MTB trails, the maze thing, the jumping pillow, and the pool! Only negative is that the pool is so dang cold! Heating it would be awesome, it's like taking a cold plunge.

We enjoyed everything about the koa has to offer, the activities as well with the customer service is amazing, we are looking forward to doing this again as a family.

It was good until 80 or so kids came with a group and made a lot of noise at night time and made a mess in the girls and boys bathroom.

Great stay, love the river to catch and release fish. The obstacle course added a nice touch. The gem mining was loved by my 10 year old.

The pool was broke when we first got there, then something was wrong with the ph, so we couldn’t go in again. Finally when we did go in the pool it was dirty, with pine needles and bugs in the pool. Then our campsite didn’t have a picnic table. So I tried calling the office 6 times and nobody answered. So I finally had to drive to the office and let them know. Picnic table arrived aft

We were excited about out weekend at KOA, but after seeing out site, we decided not to stay. It was right next to some piles of debris. And our spot had no space to park our car.

Upon arrival on August 4th we called the office to report that our gas bbq was not working and we were unable to cook for our 5 and 7 year old children. Did not hear back so went into Santa Paula for dinner. Next day someone came by and left a note and a lighter saying that the bbq was not working but to try and light same with the lighter that was left on the bbq. NO CONTACT FROM MGMT!!!

The restrooms and showers are almost nonexistent. One men's restroom had all 3 urinals covered. The park is in a wonderful area but does not have the capability to handle large amounts of people. Unfortunately I have no desire to ever bring my family back or recommend to anyone

After we arrived to #8 and found that the AC was not working I called and the maintenance guy came twice but was not able to fix it, the front desk found us another cabin to move to and when we arrived there was many things that were missing in that unit (no freezer, no propane BBQ,, no glasses, no bowls and no cook top stove etc) they brought items that were needed and went above and beyond!

It was my family and I’s first trip to Ventura Ranch and we loved it! The cabins were amazing and the pool and jumping pillow were the kids favorite!! This will definitely be our campsite for years to come!

So much dirt. Concrete slabs would be nice. But that wasn’t a huge deal. The worst part was the gardeners that started trimming trees right next to my RV at 6:45am for about an hour. So rude and disruptive to be working that early when quiet time goes until 8am. Woke us all up. Put a sour taste in my mouth for sure.

I’d recommend this KOA if you have children. The activities are great. Our 10 year old grandson enjoyed the zip line, pool and jump pillow greatly. Great staff, Frankie especially The facility overall needs significant maintenance and appears to be short staffed. Maintenance example, showers in the upper area need new heads and handles on temp control. The labyrinth lighting is broken.

The deluxe cabin was perfect for our family of four and the camp amenities were great.

This was our 10th consecutive year camping at KOA, and as always it was amazing, our host Heather was exceptional, caring, attentive and very accommodating to our group specific needs. Calvary Chapel, Loves KOA.

We love the campgrounds. My grandchildren have a blast when we go. My only issue is the restrooms the ones by the pool need to be updated. But that is the only flaw I can think of. Thank you to everyone that works there. Your all doing a great job

We enjoyed the zip lining and the bike track and all the all the outdoor activities. The pool, bathrooms, chairs and garbage bins were spider infested and had trash overflowing. The areas mentioned need to be cleaned and hosed off on a daily basis. Also, one shower door was jammed, one didn't lock and the third was all scalding hot water. The KOA should have been cleaner.

I like how each site has big space so we are not too close to other guests. Our kids enjoyed playing on jumping pillow and by the creek. Lot of space to walk around or play. Things we didn’t like are busted light bulb & step light inside our wagon (almost fell 2x) and their shower curtain smells terrible. I wish they are more consistent in maintaining their site clean and working.

Very, very family friendly location. We stayed here our first time back in 2015, but we rented a cabin back then. This time we stayed at the Birch campground in sites 32 & 33, with family. Beautiful view of the valley, a concrete patio, some grass at site 33, and peacock families walking around. Great time.

Friendly and helpful staff. Loved all the activities! enjoyed the creek!

Always a great stay at this location.

The campsite overall is nice, but need to be taken care and a lot of maintenance needs. There is not enough showers for all the people, there are 2 showers for about 100 people, which made quite impossible to shower and the lines were ridiculous long. The hot water didn’t work. The steps for the restroom is very high and not suitable for children nor elderly people. There is no disable ramps.

Very pleasant experience all around.

Very cool only complaint is the peacock’s crowing in the morning. I’ve recommended it to my friends and family five star for sure

We didn’t enjoy the stay for a few reasons. It’s a little misleading about the age of the zip line till 2 days prior to your stay. Also we didn’t realize it had a lot of long term tenets and our campsite was back up to one that looked like a dump. Smelled. Tenants chain smoking cigarettes and spray painting items. We wouldn’t stay there again

The bathrooms by the pool need a lot of work, very old and needed cleaning. The pool also very dirty with leaves, not a good idea to have so many trees near by. The bathroom/shower by motor homes sites up hill, not easy to get for elderly or handicap people. The rest was fine.

Personable staff, clean sights, great grounds, bathrooms need more frequent attention.

The site was less than clean, the bathrooms were in mediocre shape, one of the showers was not working and the pool was dirty. We had to request a cleaning.

This was my first time at a KOA and it will be my last. The activities were not as advertised which was the main reason I selected this campground. The obstacle course was only open Tues-Thurs and the additional fee was not communicated when making a reservation. The refrigerator in the cabin didn’t work. The pool was dirty, with debris and bandaids in it. I requested to speak to managers-no cal

Ventura KOA check in staff, zip line, and obstacle staff was friendly, supportive, and cool. There was one night staff who was unpleasant and kept telling us to be quiet even though we were not that loud. 9pm quiet hours is too early! Only 2 showers per camp area not enough, 1 was inop, water cold, and not that clean. Most campsites are dusty and maps inaccurate! Had fun but likely not go back.

Good location and nice staff. Thought there would be more showers instead of just a single stall. The hardest parts were not having any working water spouts as indicated on the map. Drove all over and never found one that worked. So we weren’t able to properly clean dishes. Could use a few more restrooms too. But overall we had a good time.

I stayed at Ventura Ranch KOA over the weekend and had such a great experience. We booked one of the cabins, and it was fully loaded—honestly, all we had to do was show up and enjoy. It made the trip super easy and stress-free. The pool opened early, which was a nice bonus, and there were so many activities to keep everyone entertained. The zip lines were a highlight, and kids will love things like gem mining and tie-dye. There's definitely no shortage of fun things to do. One of the coolest parts of the stay was seeing wild peacocks wandering around the property—it added a really unique touch to the whole experience. Overall, it was a fun, relaxing getaway, and I'm already looking forward to going back!

We rented a cabin and froze the first night bc there were no instructions on how to operate the "digital" heater. Also it did not state on the website that none of the children's activities were open during the week, which is when we were there during spring break. 😡
