Campground Reviews

We were at this KOA during the severe storm threats and I cannot tell you how awesome both Gene and Lindy were during that time. We stayed an extra day due to the severe weather threat and are very thankful that we did. The campground was not very busy but I’m sure in season it probably is. It’s a gorgeous setting. If we are in the area again we would definitely return.

The lady at the reservation desk was great. She was able to accommodate me. I so appreciate her.

This is a good campground but we had the unfortunate event os having a window shattered by a maintenance person. We still plan on staying at this KOA again as the staff are very nice and helpful. And the campground is beautiful.

Very pleasant people we felt with. Nice quiet park. No Goldang trains or freeway noise. We got a great nights sleep, took a nice walk and left refreshed. Lots of open space at this park.

Thank you for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay. Nice quite by the lake.

Very quiet and peaceful. Sad that the lake has been drained to a level that prevents use for fishing and boating. Time to cut the grass and spruce the place up a bit. Staff were friendly and due to a site change at check in worked hard to make sure we didn’t have to relocate.

Very friendly staff. Level pads to park and an overall good experience. Would highly recommend!

STAFF WAS EXCELLENT!!!!

Given that it was off season and cloudy/rainy day, I didn't get to enjoy any of the recreational or scenic aspects of the campground but found the facilities to be just what I needed. I would like to come back during season and nicer weather.

One of the most secluded KOA's that we have stayed in. Is about a mile from a main highway, but is close to a side road. It is pretty quiet though. The lake was drained for repair, but that is temporary. There are lots of shade trees. They had a lot of rain and a lot of the sites had standing water on the camper pads. All the pad are gravel. We will stay here again. The hosts were very nice.

This is the best KOA we have ever stayed at. The sites are big you can even turn around. The people there are kind and very helpful.

Very friendly staff. I’m sure the grounds are beautiful in the spring, but very clean for a February overnight stay and great dog run!!

The location is excellent. Quiet and although the office was closed when we arrived we had a call letting us know what to do when we arrived. We will be back in 2 weeks on our journey home.

Always nice

Cindy went above and beyond by.meeting us after hours so that we could use our large gift card. We were arriving after the office closed and leaving before it opened, so there would have been no way to use our certificate in place of the credit card.

Quiet & peaceful campground in a beautiful country setting.

Nice area, but with lake drained it really lacked the atmosphere, Lindi the host was really nice

Staff was helpful and friendly. Nice quiet area. Clean restrooms and showers.

Drained lake was a bummer. Very nice location and free firewood.

We liked the concrete slabs at our spot. It would b nice if there was a dog park.

The whole campground had standing water two days after rain lot had a trail to door that was dry.

Nice place to land to rest overnight or a few days. With the lake being dry....there is nothing to do! The wildlife was abundant and social distancing was not a problem. I would stay again as a rest stop on my travels.

Amazing hospitality and flexibility in moving my site closer to the bathrooms since it was raining the whole time I was there!

We've stayed at this KOA multiple times & everything is always clean, orderly & functional. The WiFi has a better signal than before but the lake spill-way is still broken & the lake is drained. The website still has photos of the waterslides and swimming areas, but they are now just a lakebed growing up with brush... getting the county to fix the lake should be someone's #1 priority.

No water in the lake but that's not under control of the KOA. Small drive through sites. Very rough unkept driveway. Trash (beer cans) and ashes filled the fire ring. Checked in at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and they had closed the office already. I know it's the off season, but this is not the service I expect from KOA. They do have good internet.

Great stay in the cabin. Very clean and cozy. Will stay there again.

This is a very peaceful park. We have stayed here a couple of times over the past month. The lake is currently dry due to levee issues but there is a surprising amount of geese and I even saw a couple of eagles!! We stayed in P1 which was a preferred site this time. I am glad we were on a concrete pad as this is the wet season and rain water seems to take longer to drain than you would think.

Very quiet campground that I've used several times now. Roads need new gravel as huge puddles and soft spots existed throughout the area. At approximately $60 for a patio site on a non-football weekend off-season with very few other campers in the park, the rate seems a bit high to me.

Okay place but too expensive.

A quick overnight stay for us. Convenient to the Natchez Trace. The campground was clean and quiet. Ms. Lindy in the office was nice as could be. We knew ahead of time that the lake was dry due to issues with the dam/levee but you could see if it gets fixed that this would be a great place to camp. Could use KOA signage at the main road.

The cabin was very clean and nice and the camp hostess was very hospitable. We had a perfect Thanksgiving weekend. Thank you. Be back soon, Lord-willing.

Lovely place to stop. Would love to see it when the levee is fixed and water back in the lake

Upon arrival, had issues with an open ground indication on the 50A circuit of the power pedestal. I was promptly moved to another site however it appears the campground doesn't have on-site staff to deal with such issues. My previous site remained open and no indication of repair occurred. Also, it's a shame the lake is drained as the location is very pretty when the lake is full.

This review has been removed by KOA due to profanity.

First of all was the Lake or NON existence of the lake and water slides that were listed on the web site. We were traveling thru the country from Wisconsin. When I looked online for a site, this one stuck out as a beautiful place to stay a couple days. False advertising is all I can say.

Great place, we’re thrilled to have hot food available there, which they delivered to our door!

WIFI is much better than last time. Very friendly staff. Well maintained. Would be 1000% better if the spillway for the lake were repaired and the waterslides operating. Someone should be working on getting a government grant to repair the spillway and get that lake filled.

Starkville KOA is a very nice park. We were in site #2. In this area the sites are somewhat close together but very level. If you are going at this time of year(November) you might be under a hickory type tree that drops hickory nuts on your motorhome during the night!! We laughed about it but it does wake you up. The lake is dry now until they fix the levy. Very pet friendly good walking areas.

In this upside down year of Covid, it was nice to still be able to find a place to park our rv for the night as we were passing through. We were in and out, but felt very welcome.

The reservation process was simple thanks to Randy, the manager on site! He made himself available if needed at all and checked out as several times throughout our stay to make sure everything was perfect. And that it was! The deluxe cabins were clean, cozy and well equipped with everything we needed! The firewood on site allowed us to build campfires each night, and have s'mores and make memories with our grands and children! The campground was quiet, clean, and well-maintained! We will definitely be back as soon as we can get there
