Keeping the outdoors clean is a priority for KOA and we are excited to be part of this future-forward vision. As such, we are adding EV charging infrastructure at many of our locations throughout North America to support our guests' ever-changing needs.Currently, however, a small portion of our campgrounds are set up with EV charging capabilities. It is essential to understand that EVs require constant electricity flow to charge their batteries, and the majority of our campgrounds' electrical pedestals do not have this capability. Our current electrical pedestals were originally designed for non-continuous loads typical of today's RV usage, and therefore simply cannot support EV charging. Plugging your EV into a traditional 50-30 amp campground pedestal could permanently damage your vehicle as well as the campground's electrical system. If a charging converter was provided by your auto manufacturer, it does not change the way electricity flows within the campground's electrical infrastructure and should not be used to connect your EV to our campground pedestals.
Back-in Sites
Please keep all your wheels on the pavement. Please, when parking your rig, leave enough room between your slide-out and the electrical pedestal. Please do not back your rig more than 12 inches beyond the end of the pavement. More than this will interfere with the sprinklers and mowing. Pick-up camper must stay on the truck bed.
Tent Sites
Park car parallel to your site. Please put your tent in the mulch area between the pavement and the logs. We like to keep our grass nice and green so we water every night and since we don't want you to get wet, don't put your tent on the lawn.
Accommodations, ECO Tent, Regular Cabin, Deluxe Cabin
Please tidy up before you check out. There is a broom in the corner. Please lock the door and bring the key to the office when you depart. A pet deposit is required for pets to be in the cabins.
Enjoy our Nature
We take great pride in the landscape of our park and we make nature look good. However, we are still in a natural environment and want you to be aware of some common “visitors” to our park. Ants, crows and skunks are rather good at making themselves known anytime of the year. You can help un-invite these guests by keeping a clean campsite and making sure all pet food is covered. Coyotes, snakes, lizards, raccoons, foxes and hawks are also common wildlife visitors. While we will do our best to help keep pests and critters at bay, San Diego KOA will not be liable or responsible for damages or expenses incurred due to animal or insect behavior.
Water
Southern California seems to be in a perpetual drought. We ask that you do what you can to conserve water.
Four-Generations of the Bell Family Working Hard to Give you the Best Ever Southern-California Camping Escape
Turn any corner at the San Diego KOA Campground in California, and you're likely to run into a member of the Bell family, hard at work to give you an extraordinary Southern California camping escape. You'll see four generations of Bells operating this 2013 KOA Campground of the Year. That's not surprising, since the campground has always been a family affair.Ted and Carol first built the campground in 1968 to help raise extra funds for college for their three children. For Ted, the campground is his life's passion. You'll probably catch him working on one of his continuous park improvement projects such as the beautiful landscaping you'll find throughout the campground. Son Mike and wife Rowena joined the family campground business in 1975 after they finished college.
Today you'll find the third generation, Molly, Clint & Josh, along with Ramon Becerra, the general manager, who has been a part of the San Diego KOA family for more than 30-years. These familiar faces are greeting guests and helping campers make lasting memories at the campground.
You'll see the fourth generation toddling around the playground, jumping pillows, and sampling kids meals at the Sand Castle Cafe to make sure it's all up to standards. When they aren't at the campground the Bell family loves to go hiking, go to the beach, volunteer in community organizations, gather for family dinners and teach the fourth generation the joys of camping.
From The Bell Family to Your Family…Happy Camping!
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
