This spectacular promenade along the beach in East Lyme, CT, boasts stunning views of Long Island Sound, lapping waves, and the whoosh of trains passing on nearby tracks.5K Runners and walkers will enjoy a mostly flat course from Niantic's McCook Park through the charming Village of Niantic, down along Main Street and the Boardwalk, to a sparkling finish near Hole-in-the-Wall Beach. This is a family event that will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McCook Point Park in Niantic, CT. This year there will be Horn Free Hour from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.Note: there is No Rain Date!!!This is an event not to be missed, the Touch A Truck experience is for one and all, big and small. Spend some time with us and have yourself a ball. It's an educational experience that will make you a ‘hero' with your child/grandchild. Children can climb various vehicles, sit in the driver's seat and discover the world of trucks. They will be able to see, touch, and interact with big trucks and learn their functions. This unique event will feature large trucks and heavy equipment from law enforcement, fire departments, commercial companies, industrial companies and rental companies.Vehicle demonstrations will be conducted and we never know just who might make an appearance. In addition there will be face painting, hair beading, games and crafts. Refreshments will be available for sale.The Rotary Club of Niantic will be also be on-hand to assist with Amber Alert. This is a great time to sign up and take steps to safeguard your children.The suggested donation is $4.00 per person (ages 2 and up) to benefit the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut. The annual East Lyme Memorial Day Parade provides an opportunity for patriotic Americans to come together and honor those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.
The parade will be held on Monday, May 28th beginning at 2:00 p.m., will begin near St. John's Green (across from the Children's Museum of Southeastern CT.), and will proceed down Niantic's Main St. ending at the East Lyme Town Hall.The parade celebrates all those who have served in uniform from the American Revolution to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and will reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

The Annual Niantic Bay 10k/run road race and 5k/walk will be held on Friday, June 8th beginning at 5:30 pm. The 10K course starts just outside McCook's Point Park entrance on Atlantic Street. This 6.2 mile race course is mostly flat with a few small hills and travels through local neighborhoods. The 5K walk is a 3.1 mile fun walk that generally starts about 15 minutes before the 10K Run. Admission to the Arts & Crafts show is free, and over 160 vendors are expected to be at the show. Located on the East Lyme Town Hall grounds (Pennsylvania Ave.), this annual Niantic summer tradition is sure to kick start your summer. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, carvings, pottery jewelry and other beautiful things will be available on both days.New in 2018 will be the expansion of the Lions Food Court that will be available both days. The first / kick-off concert will be held on Friday, July 13th and will be held weekly on Friday evenings (weather permitting).
Concerts will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the new McCooks Point Band Shell atop of McCook's Point Park (just behind the old pavilion). Attendees are encouraged to being chairs, blankets and are welcomed to bring a picnic dinner. Concerts are free and open to the public.
Sailfest is New England's premiere street festival, located in the heart of New London. The three-day event boasts 50+ artists on 3 stages, hundreds of vendors and the fourth largest fireworks display on the east coast. The event draws 300,000+ people to New London's Historic Waterfront District for one explosive weekend.
McCook's Beach Summer Concert Series is BACK for 2018!!!! These weekly concerts featured smaller, more local bands, and took place at and on McCooks Beach on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.So bring a picnic dinner, watch the sun set and enjoy some great tunes all while relaxing on the beach with family and friends. No beach pass is required after 5:00 PM to enter the park!

The Annual South County Hot Air Balloon Festival is an ongoing gathering of community, BBQ, music, and of course lots of balloons. The event is held at the University of Rhode Island Athletic Fields in Kingston, Rhode Island each July, and features up to 14 hot air balloonists or aeronauts for three days of flying around Southern Rhode Island. The festival will be featuring airborne juggles, balloon rides, BBQ competition, fish pond, crafters and vendors, live music, food vendors, giant kite flying, hot air balloon demos, inflatable rides, kid's train rides, magic clowns, fire truck, rock wall climbing and more!
The 18th Annual Celebrate East Lyme Festival is expected to be held on Saturday, July 21st(this is the week after the New London Sailfest Festival).
The Town of East Lyme will once again transform it's waterfront Main Street in the seaside village of Niantic into their annual Bash by the Bay filled with food, music and fun-filled activities for the entire family!Niantic's Main St. will close to vehicular traffic (beginning at 3:00 p.m.) which will then be filled by over 200 local vendors offering food from local and regional restaurants, products and services from local businesses and entertainment for everyone! Festivities include live music performances, cooking demonstrations & tastings, children's areas and so much more!
Additionally, the East Lyme Parks & Recreation Department will again host a Sand Castle competition and the always popular Great Niantic Bay Raft Races. And last, but not least, the day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show over the beautiful Niantic Bay.

The event showcases high-quality antique vessels, including cruisers, sailboats, and runabouts. Approximately 50 classic vessels will create a colorful gathering along the museum's waterfront. The Rendezvous concludes Sunday at 11:45am (due to Amtrak railroad bridge schedule) with a parade of classic boats down the Mystic River. A party, "Docktails & Dancing," will be held Saturday from 7 to 10p.m. Drinks, desserts, and dancing to music by the band Sugar. $45 per person.
East Lyme will once again serve as host site for the 2018 Niantic Bay Triathlon and AquaBike Event.
The Niantic Bay Triathlon is a flat, sprint distance race with a 1/2-mile swim in Niantic Bay, an ocean bay with no waves or strong currents, a 12-mile bike loop through scenic East Lyme with water views and shaded streets, and 3.5-mile run through the beach community of Niantic; with a spectacular a beach finish. The entire race is at sea level. Aqua/Bike runs simultaneously on swim and bike courses as Tri.
