John and Sally began their journey operating campgrounds in 1992 when Sally's father asked them to take over his campground, Over the next 10 years they succeeded in transforming the campground into what her father dreamed it could be. In 2002 they decided it was time to purchase their own campground and that May they moved with their 5 kids to Westhampton, MA and became the owners of Windy Acres Campground. In 2008 they converted Windy Acres to Northampton/Springfield KOA. Over the years their children all helped operate the campground each in their own way. In March 2015 the opportunity to purchase a campground in upstate New York came up and after discussing it with their oldest son Brian and his girlfriend Amber they closed on Adirondack 1000 Islands Campground. They immediately converted it to Natural Bridge Watertown NY KOA and Brian and Amber began their journey as campground managers. In May 2017 they purchased the struggling Camp Niantic Family Campground. After graduating from Johnson & Wales, their son Michael left a career at Marriott Corp and became the General Manager at Northampton KOA allowing John and Sally to move to Niantic with their young son Brysin to begin the clean up and transformation of Camp Niantic. In April 2018 this campground will open as Niantic KOA. Their son Matthew does maintenance at both the Northampton and Niantic locations and their daughter Ashley works along side Michael in running the campground. Their daughter Nicole pursued a career in Nursing after helping out in high school at the Northampton KOA. In April 2022 John & Sally have retired from day to day operation of Niantic KOA and passed the responsibility over to Michael. They also sold the Natural Bridge Watertown KOA and Brian & Amber now run Northampton KOA. Please stop in and see all the great changes and additions the next generation is breathing into our lovely family campgrounds! That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
