"Go Fourth on the River, is the annual dueling barges fireworks display along the Mississippi Riverfront in the French Quarter. Go Fourth on the River is a free event that promises a delightful celebration of the 4th of July, and pays tribute to America's independence. This family-friendly event offers a wide variety of attractions throughout the day. 

The Port of New Orleans will bring out the General Roy S. Kelley fireboat again this year with its famed water show with plumes of red, white, and blue fountains from 6:30 - 7 pm.

The highlight of the event is the mesmerizing free fireworks display held over the Mississippi River, stretching between the Gov. Nicholls St. Wharf and the Canal St. Dock. The fireworks display begins at 9 PM and can be enjoyed from both river banks, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all.

Built in 1994, the General Kelley was used by the Port of New Orleans to fight fires, give tours, and conduct search-and-rescue missions on the Mississippi River.   The General Kelley is 95 feet long and 16 feet wide with a 7 foot draft.  It seats 24 and typically has a crew of three."  ~per their website
