Flat tent sites close to the bathroom with plenty of room for a 10-person tent. The playground kept my kids entertained.

The Mitchell KOA is one of my favorite KOA campgrounds. It is very clean, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. At Mitchell the tent sites are very spacious and nice and are close to the bathrooms and office. The outdoor sinks for dishwashing were the cleanest I've seen anywhere. The bathrooms and showers were also very clean!

The Mitchell location is great for passing through due to its location along I-90. The facilities are well kept and the bathrooms are really clean and look brand new. The office is open 9-6 and the staff is helpful and nice. If you are tent camping, the sites are right along another busy road so I would suggest earplugs as it is noisy. The site has a nice fire pit and table for each tent site.

Just a quick stop to have a safe place to sleep. Easy check in, nice area, clean.

A great place to stay whether in a tent, RV or cabin. Beautiful grounds. Modern and clean bathrooms. The owners obviously take great pride in this location. Will definitely stay again.

A very nice overnight stay as we traveled home. The store had several local products. We enjoyed a pizza and wine. KOAs generally provide good customer service and that was the case here as well. Superstar staff made our 600 mile day melt away. A great stop.

Has to be my 3rd or 4th stay here. Really like this spot and the staff is great. Road noise can be a issue at times but not a deal breaker. Great bath house showers and facilities

Stayed overnight in tent area. Nice grassy sites. Very clean and well kept. Nicest restrooms ever. Large patio out back of office. A little road noise early a.m.but not bad. Staff was great, very helpful. One of the nicest we've ever stayed in.

Overpriced for car camping, left with 50 mosquito bites-a bite per dollar spent on my site, bugs at night were literally screaming. Got no sleep and nothing to do at the campground. Showers were mediocre, warm not hot.

Very friendly hosts. Fantastic, clean bathroom facilities. Great place to stay (we had a tent). Out of our 15 campgrounds during a long road trip among the best. Compliments!

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
