Nicest well maintained Journey we have stayed at. Very convenient to the interstate but road noise wasn’t bad. Host were great and worked with me when I needed to come in a day early. Nice to see the availability of tornado shelters and glad we didn’t need them.

We enjoyed our one night stay here. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the facilities are well maintained and clean. Bought a few items in the store - love the Naked Bee products, and local ice cream and beer were very good! Best ‘Journey’ we’ve ever stayed at.

Friendly staff and convenient location. We were disappointed in the number of bathrooms/showers available to us. I waited about 45 minutes which is unusual. Also, the sites felt very cramped/tight making it difficult to pull in/out of the campground.

Grounds were great, friendly personal. Women’s restroom was full of spider webs and water flow in showers was bad.

The place has been recently remodeled and is SUPER clean. Restroo.s and showers are top notch. The management team helped of find a place to get the proper electrical cord for the rental RV that had the wrong cable. They reached out to the place and had it ready when we got there just before closing. The local ice cream that is sold in the store is delicious.

Wow! Beautiful campground. So many lovely improvements, your hard work is showing & we appreciate it. Flawless overnight stay! Such big beautiful trees & new patio sites. only thing we would ask is mayyyybe a bit more space between sites. we are eager to come back for a longer visit. Thanks for being so friendly & arranging for our late arrival ;-) we felt ‘cared for’

Excellent location, facilities and staff!! I would highly rate this location. Close to town and sights. Mitchell is such a friendly town. We booked our return trip there already. Super clean. Patio sites are gorgeous. Can't wait to try the rainfall showers - YES in the bathhouse! Cute store with locally made South Dakota items if you need a gift or to treat yourself. Great KOA!!!

The nicest KOA we've stayed at in years. Staff friendly and helpful. Grounds, amenities, immaculate facilities are all well kept. And camp store supports local foods and crafts. Definitely will be a go to site for us in the future.

So friendly!! Great camp store full of local products (beer and ice cream were delicious!!!) Was that a camp shower or a SPA shower?! Very wonderful. Beautiful grounds. Loved our brief stay.

This was mine and my husband's first experience with a koa, it was clean so many nice people.

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
