Great place to stay. Courteous and helpful staff. Newer cabins with good number of outlets. Clean restroom and shower facilities. A number of things for kids to do. Wi-fi very good. Close to town. Highway is a bit noisy, but not uns reasonable. Would highly recommend.

The staff was amazing! Welcoming; accommodating and very thourough. The cabin was very clean, had comfortable beds, great up-to date A/C & Heat, extremely well maintained. Bathrooms were outstanding! They were very clean and decorated beautifully. The community BBQ patio was a appreciated and well maintained too. We didnt have a chance to play any of the outdoor games but will next time!

Cabins are always nice & bath-rest house always clean. Very nice property. Pizza is overpriced & bland. The camp is nice but it feels “less-friendly” somehow, compared to how it used to be. But we w old def stay here again .

Fantastic facilities, seem really new. Nice campground overall. Cabins have ok bed and no microwave. The website did say that there was EV charging but that was actually not the case.

Stayed in a camper cabin, the bed was comfortable and the room very neat. Enjoyed sitting on the porch swing to do a little reading. Very friendly and informative staff. Always enjoy staying at this KOA.

Beautiful KOA, tons of amenities. Wide grassy lanes to walk the dog, nice dog park, beautiful touches like patterned ceramic sinks in the bathrooms, which were spotless. Nice store. Really lovely!

I like the KOA campsites. They are clean and have many activities. Check in/out is simple. My only complaint is that I wish the showers were individual and behind locked doors. I was uneasy showering in a room that anyone could walk into and some creep was harassing my son while he was t showering. Not the camps fault that this person was like that, but definitely something they could prevent.

Severe weather caused a late arrival for me but the staff was more than accommodating. They were in the office and moving tree branches outside for me when I arrived close to 8pm!

I rented Cabin 4 and the Air Conditioner needs to be replaced. It sounded like a combination of a jackhammer and a helicopter. I tried turning it off, but it was way too hot. It was impossible to sleep in that cabin. I can’t believe whoever cleans and does inspections, thinks that’s okay. I might recommend RV or tent spots, but not a cabin. The cabin also smelled like stale cigarette smoke.

Super clean, accessible campground for our layover towards Rushmore. We stayed in the camper cabin. My only critical feedback is the camper beds are seriously uncomfortable. Not a great night sleep.

We stayed for one night in a KOA Camping Cabin while traveling home from the Black Hills to Johnston, IA. We knew we would arrive late and requested information about how to do a late check in. We received a friendly and helpful email that outlined how to do a late check in. Everything was ready when we arrived at 10 PM. The cabin was clean and welcoming. Loved the bathroom sinks!

Our stay was brief but great. Check in was a breeze and very pleasant (I wish I could recall her name-very thorough and enjoyable and a happy person) store purchases added to our card and the bathrooms! OMG-they were so very clean! We have stayed there before and if we ever go through Mitchell again, we will stay again. They add to KOAs great reputation..

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
