We have been traveling for 6 weeks. This is the best RV campground of our trip. Excellent management! Beautiful showers/restrooms. Nice shaded spaces. Walking paths. Great store. They manager went out of his was to assist. Our sewer hose was too short so he brought a loaner and even helped set it up. They patrol the grounds and keep the park spotless. Just plain nice people!

Pristine campground. Well organized, great staff, friendly service, very professional. Great areas for dogs and a beautiful walking path. They have pizza to be made onsite and the store carries many local made products.

People at the office were wonderful, great for an overnight stay, little tight quarters for a longer stay. Bathrooms and showers were impeccably clean!! We are staying here again in a few days.

Nice park..a bit expensive for gravel sites and no cable. Wifi available so we could stream with our Roku. Our next KOA in SD pretty much same lots but with cable & WiFi and $20.00 less expensive. Both KOAs are Journey. Sydney who checked us in at Mitchell was the hi-light. She was delightful.

When I called for reservations the nice gal was most helpful. Checked in late but our instructions and space # were pinned to a board. Very clean, quiet accommodations.

 Unfortunately, our campsite were placed far too close to neighboring sites, which made it difficult to enjoy any sense of privacy. Bathrooms were very clean.

This park is lovely. Good K9 area. The bathrooms are really nice. Lovely rain shower. Clean and well done. There are many amenities here that we didn't use, but it's lovely. This is my second time staying here. Just lovely.

We always stay there on the way out to the Black Hills.. Very nice and clean campground. We have stayed there so many times. We're on the 3rd owners... probably around 40 years....

Staff was super. Got us in on the day due to being flooded out at a previous campsite. We were adding another 100 miles to our drive to outrun a bad storm. A few sprinkles when we were setting up, but a good dry next day. Thank you Mitchell KOA. Would stop again.

Immaculate restrooms, shade trees with enough gaps for our Starlink, friendly staff, nice layout. Only negative was our site, C10, the hookups were spread apart from each other in such a way it made it difficult to hook up everything. (Many other sites seemed more compact with hookup placement.)

Mitchell KOA is an exceptionally well run campground. It’s well maintained with very clean restrooms, showers and laundry. The staff at this campground are so nice and very accommodating. I wish all KOA’s were this nice.

Patricia is most accomodating, knowledgable and friendly. Park is clean and quiet. Grass is mowed. Bathrooms are clean and lovely with Mexican hand tooled mirror frames and beautiful talavera sinks. Well stocked store focusing on locally made goods. Good wifi. Great trees, but not too many. We got a good satellite signal. Sites level.

We only stayed one night, heading home after a trip out west. We've stayed here before, but noticed they've added some new patio sites (which we upgraded to!) and done some general clean-up. It's a nice campground, easy to get to off of the interstate, some nice mowed trails for walking our dogs (in addition to two fenced 20' x 60' off-leash areas), and the hostess was awesome! We'll be back!

People were very friendly and were extremely helpful. Laundry facilities were very clean and also the bathrooms. Sites need more stones so that you aren’t walking on dirt!.

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
