We had a storm in the night with lots of wind. In the morning I was impressed that they were out picking up sticks and branches. Very well run, very clean friendly staff! I highly recommend this KOA. We will be back!!!

Lovely widely spaced campsite.well maintained, clean friendly and quiet. Staff were great and friendly. Was pleased to note that there were well placed storm shelters throughout the campground in the event of an unforeseen weather event. Don’t miss out on the Corn Palace, a gem!

Staff is very good. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Camp is located away from interstate and convenient to Mitchell SD. We stayed 1 night in pull thru that was fairly level and shaded but neighbors were close.

Very nice KOA it was very quiet. They do a wonderful job at keeping it clean. Just wished the store opened before 9 a.m..

Pleasantly greeted. Very nice, level site. Nice, affordable, clean laundry facility. Nice camp store. Great patio area behind KOA Office. Would definitely return if in area. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly helpful staff. Park was very well maintained. The new patio sites are fantastic. We noticed when we got there the patio and furniture was very clean. Every time before somebody came the patio was cleaned, the patio furniture was wiped down, even the power pedestal and sewer connection was cleaned. One of the best KOAs we have been at. Laundry and restrooms were very clean.

The Mitchell location is great for passing through due to its location along I-90. The facilities are well kept and the bathrooms are really clean and look brand new. The office is open 9-6 and the staff is helpful and nice. If you are tent camping, the sites are right along another busy road so I would suggest earplugs as it is noisy. The site has a nice fire pit and table for each tent site.

Excellent camp area with so many extras. We loved the outside dish cleaning area. The walking paths were awesome. The fenced area for our dog was amazing. We would love to return!

Great place to stay! We reserved online and when we got there we weren't assigned a site and were unable to get ahold of anyone to figure out our site. We eventually just parked in an empty site and the stay was nice, but it was frustrating not having things in line for when we got there.

The Mitchell KOA was a perfect stop for us on the way to Custer State Park. The campground is meticulously maintained, and many of the sites have plenty of shade. The bathrooms are clean and the staff are friendly. Our experience there was great!

Very nice. Clean. Well kept. We stayed in a pull thru patio site, number 9. We were only here one night, but would stay here again. Site was spacious. We left our truck attached to our 30 ft trailer. Nice patio furniture. Smokeless fire pit.

We stayed one hot night at the Mitchell KOA but had a beautiful grassy, shady spot. The bathrooms are immaculate with beautiful painted ceramic bowls and nice showers. Nice playground and little putt putt golf area. Only down side is that at back of park is a cow field that didn't smell so good but it is only in the very back by the dog area. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Might be the nicest campground we've stayed at yet! The staff is wonderful; onsite store can get you through in a pinch, common space patio and grill looked great, the grounds a park like (and flat); the bathrooms are pristine, spacious and possibly more nicely appointed than my house. Everything you're looking for in a campground. Would 100% stay again!

Helpful and friendly staff who went above and beyond, easy access. Excellent laundry facilities -- we were on an extended trip so they were appreciated. Be sure to try the local ice cream. Wonderful!

Loved the place! The staff is just super. It's located so conveniently off the main highway but it's still secluded. It's close to town and all Mitchell has to offer. We'll definitely be back!

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
