Great place stayed one night. Loved camping in the trees lots of shade. First night in 6 nights we had shade I would have stayed longer if possible and would rate at 100%.

We love the area, we have friends who live in Mitchell and our daughter lives a little more than an hour north from Mitchell and we visit here each year although this was our first Time staying at your KOA. We really enjoyed our selfs and the rain, you have a beautiful park. Thank you

Very friendly staff! Great store , love the wine selection. �� The new big rig friendly sites are amazing! We travel all summer long and bring our 2 favorite toys.. our jeep and motorcycle… lots of room to keep our trailer hooked up. Will definitely stop in again!

Journey Koa should be just that. Meant for the traveling camper to have a reasonable priced place to stay. Concrete patios with tables chairs so you can charge 94 a night is not acceptable. I have encountered this a lot this trip across the country. I am not likely to use such facilities when traveling it's just a money grab. Please leave the Journeys just that.

One of our best campground stays yet. Full of friendly, warm service. We arrived a little late yet they stay and wait for the evening guests to arrive before closing their store. We had food but ended up getting the local cheeses, pizza, beer, and ice cream which were delicious! Wish more KOA’s would catch on. And loved the super clean rain showers and tile sinks.

We stayed just for night on our way to Mount Rushmore. This was one of the quietest, best kept KOAs we’ve stayed. We didn’t use the bathrooms much, but they were very clean and the walls and sinks were beautiful and unique for a campground. We wouldn’t have been upset if we needed to stay another night.

Very nice campground! Quiet too! They have a nice assortment of local cheese, meat sticks, wine and ice cream! The ones I bought were excellent. Nice to see them supporting local people. Would stay again when going thru SD.

The loop system is a little ‘interesting’, but works out in the end. Nice place to stay.

Upon arrival impressive when checking in they offered us an upgrade to the new patio area. Just barley opened, each site has very nice furniture and a solo stove fireplace very upgraded and nice, campground is very clean they have a variety of local products for sale. Very very nice koa

We have stayed here several times and it has always been a pleasant experience. The campground is in tip-top condition. We will probably stay again in the future.

We always stay here when we are coming and going through this area, it is now under new ownership and they are doing a great job keeping the KOA every bit as nice as the past owners did.

Nice shady campground. Check in was very easy and the girl at check in was very sweet. The store is well stocked and the bathroom was clean. I thought it was great they have storm shelters in case of a tornado.

This is probably our most favorite KOA. People are so nice and helpful. The park is super clean. We will definitely stop here on our way back home.

Our stay was brief but great. Check in was a breeze and very pleasant (I wish I could recall her name-very thorough and enjoyable and a happy person) store purchases added to our card and the bathrooms! OMG-they were so very clean! We have stayed there before and if we ever go through Mitchell again, we will stay again. They add to KOAs great reputation..

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
