I enjoyed the mini-golf. Tent sites are arranged a little funny to walk to the bathrooms, no direct pathway, have to walk down and around the end of the row to avoid walking through sites. But a clean, comfortable campground.

Nice clean updated and well stocked camp store, restrooms were also clean and updated. Nice quite campground, recommend to anyone.

This KOA is a fantastic overnight stay! The campground is well laid out, mature trees, level pull through sites. The campground bathrooms are clean and one of a kind. With beautiful sinks and mirrors. The pool is no longer there, although it is still listed as an amenity on the KOA website and app. Where the pool used to be is a well furnished patio with games and a gas grill.

What a lovely campground. Wonderful friendly staff and we loved the personal escort to our site! I love that the campground store has local products - do not skip the homemade ice cream when you shop. We only stayed overnight, but if we are ever back this way we will definitely book a say for several days to see what Mitchell has to offer.

This has to be one of the best if not THE BEST KOA or even campground I have ever stayed it. It was immaculate, the bathrooms were super clean and nicely done. Local food was available and they gave you ways to cook it (like pizza with an oven and brots/hotdogs with a grill.) It was shady and well designed. It was quiet. Loved it.

Needed a place for the night on our trip home West to East. Convenient off I-90 and to the town of Mitchell, which had everything you’d expect in a city. Clean campground, friendly staff. Didn’t use facilities. Would stay again when in the area.

This campsite is beautiful. We had a great time, the fire pits are amazing, the sites are large and lovely. I’m hoping in the future, that KOA adds a pickle cort .

I have stayed at many different Koa’s around the country, different states. This koa which was a journey was the cleanest koa we have been in. Better than Koa Resort or Holiday. They are doing something right there. I have stayed at 14 koa on this trip and have 3 more reservations to go. I am hoping that I will run across another koa with the same neatness and cleanliness. Super place A++++++++

We were only there one night, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean and showers were amazing.

We didn’t like that there’s no privacy wall between permanent residents and travelers. The permanent residents looked totally trashie and most had big dogs that scared our pups. Beyond this, there was very little for the kids to do. No activities, no cafe etc. it was ok as an overnight pit stop but I wouldn’t stay for any length of time.

Easy on/off interstate 90, centrally located near tourist attractions, staff was very friendly. Park is clean, large sites, nice pet area. Would definitely stay again

We stayed for one night in a KOA Camping Cabin while traveling home from the Black Hills to Johnston, IA. We knew we would arrive late and requested information about how to do a late check in. We received a friendly and helpful email that outlined how to do a late check in. Everything was ready when we arrived at 10 PM. The cabin was clean and welcoming. Loved the bathroom sinks!

Nice friendly staff and owners. Would have liked 30 amp service, but no step downs allowed. Really did not need 50 amp. Enjoyed a wonderful evening, with the windows open

We had a great stay at the Mitchel KOA! The General managers were so friendly, and you can tell they are getting some great projects completed. We will be back!

We stayed in a cabin and the beds were the worse thing ever. We LOVE KOA and will keep staying there but we will not stay in a cabin again

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
