The most expensive KOA thar we have ever stayed at. First time being charged for dogs. Lovely pool, however 11am is very late to open.

This was an excellent campground friendly staff well kept very clean campground the bathrooms and laundry rooms were excellent dog park was nice if I had to say what's wrong with this campground I guess being picky it would be no pool and the campsites were a little close but this was an excellent campground and should be considered as a holiday if they get a pool

Absolutely wonderful. Wanted shaded spot, Kim says "don't worry it will be shortly" and sure enough it was. But best part - the showers - by far the best we have seen in our summer long travels coast to coast. Highly recommend this KOA. Off the freeway and quiet.

I rented Cabin 4 and the Air Conditioner needs to be replaced. It sounded like a combination of a jackhammer and a helicopter. I tried turning it off, but it was way too hot. It was impossible to sleep in that cabin. I can’t believe whoever cleans and does inspections, thinks that’s okay. I might recommend RV or tent spots, but not a cabin. The cabin also smelled like stale cigarette smoke.

Though we were only there for one night, we found hosts to be very welcoming and helpful. Store was stocked nicely with many local products. Restrooms were super clean and modern. We’d definitely stay here again! A nice oasis in the middle of nowhere!

Overnight stop. The campground is very well kept and quiet with minimal road noise. Our site was level and nicely shaded but a bit on the narrow side. The campground store sells local treats. It is definately worth taking a look!

Nice, quiet park with great hosts and convenient to highway. Also close to 1880’s Town which was adorable. The KOA offers delicious sounding food too, but we did our own cooking. Will definitely be back.

Spent one night on our way to Black Hills. Easy on and off freeway. Far enough off freeway to not have freeway noise but not too far from freeway. Showers were really nice and clean. Very nice place.

Our journey to the Mitchell KOA was awesome from the time we arrived to the time we left. Was greeted by friendly faces, escorted to our site, and assisted with getting in the site. We saw they had new patio sites and asked if we could upgrade which was no problem at all. The sites are big and well maintained. Would highly recommend a stay at the Mitchell KOA.

We only stopped for an overnight and left the next morning. between the wonderful staff and the new patio sites, our stay was very comfortable. The bathrooms were spotless. We will definitely be back.

Great, helpful staff. The only negative was the overwhelming smell of what must be a leach pond of some sort that was repulsive! It smelled like being in a portapotty.

CLEANEST KOA we have stayed at...ever. We LOVED the feature of the outdoor sink near the restrooms as we did not hook up our RV water for a one night quick overnight dtay. The desk host was fabulous with explaining amenities and attractions upon arrival. I especially loved hearing about their local offerings in the store. Well done, Mitchell KOA.

Beautiful campground everything was very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly ! Make sure to get some ice cream I recommend the chocolate chip cookie dough!! Looking forward to camping there again.

Super clean, accessible campground for our layover towards Rushmore. We stayed in the camper cabin. My only critical feedback is the camper beds are seriously uncomfortable. Not a great night sleep.

Really nice area and excellent staff. The grounds are clean as are the restrooms and shower room. The pool was also quite nice!

Best koa bathrooms I've ever seen. Campground is well run with a dedicated staff. This place is so much better than other local options as we had tried another campground prior to coming here. The other place was like a hick block party with drunk individuals setting off fire works. We loved our time at Mitchell koa and would recommend them to anyone as they have great shaded spots for tents and have good roads for RVs.

Update June 2026: it is still an excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days. Be sure to check out the Corn Palace.
