This campground is tucked off the not too busy highway- with trees and some black hills. We stayed in a camping cabin- which was immaculately clean and had a nice porch and swing and picnic table and fire pit. It was so comfortable. And the location is serene but also near everything. The hosts were great guides to the area as well as super nice and super helpful. It was a wonderful experience.

I bring grandkids every other year to camp for a week (started in 2011). It was a wonderful experience for us this year. This I can say it was much better than what I experienced 2019 through 2023. Those years were okay, but the people running/on-site this year were superb. Thank you and hope to be back in 2027.

very easy to check in: Very polite staff. very clean restrooms ; one toilet was not flushing. I told staff about toilet and it was quickly fixed Internet worked well. i was at Custer Park SD. I thought $47 one night fee for tent camping was extreme. but i needed a place to camp overnight.

Our family loves the Hill City/Needles Hwy KOA! We stayed in a cabin, which was very comfortable for 4 people. The kids loved the pool and jump pad. Wonderful family atmosphere and the front desk staff was incredibly friendly.

The staff went above and beyond here! Everyone we met was welcoming and friendly especially Tammy, Wendy, Tim, Jared, Steve and Eddie! We have been to other KOA locations and have always found a warm welcome but this group was outstanding. We had to extend our stay and they were just so accommodating. The location is also wonderful, lots of trees, and options for more tucked away sites.

Nice quiet campground. Campsites are kind of small. Would like more space between campers. However, staff very friendly and helpful. This is their first year as KOA and I’m sure more improvements are on the way.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They were able to find us a spot for 4 days without moving. On short notice. Beautiful location close to Custer Station Park. Returning later in summer. Only negative very poor internet (not sure that’s a bad thing)

Beautiful location. The RV site was not at all level (took a lot to get level). There was sediment in the water at the RV hookup, and the shower water had a "rusty" smell to it. The cost was $35 more per night than every other KOA that we've stayed at. Otherwise the kids had a ball here.

Great campground! It's newer to KOA but it's a well-established campground. The staff was amazing and really friendly.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They were the highlight of the stay. The campground was crowded, tents everywhere along with packed trailer spots. Although it says two tents per spot, that wasn’t the case. Prior to KOA owning this resort, it wasn’t nearly as crowded.

Stay was good, just like the previous 8 years we have been going there. Huge complaint, please put an AC unit in every cabin. We were in cabin S and since it was 90 degrees out it was miserable in there until about 2:00 AM Also, if there are 15 kids on the jumping pad at 8:00 when it finally cooled down, please let them jump instead of unplugging it because it’s 8:00, they were having a great t

Excellent staff! We really enjoyed our stay. Site 111 tight with neighbor but we ran all day and stayed inside in the evenings. Very much enjoyed!

This campground is in a stunning location. At night it cooled down and got quiet. You could see a million stars in the sky. All of the workers were really nice. The delivery of ice and firewood to our site was fast and easy. The bathroom/shower was clean. I would highly recommend staying here.

The staff is one of the most helpful and friendly people. At the last minute they were enable to find us a pull full spot for 4 nights. Great hiking and views in the pines. Very close to Custer State Park. We will definitely come back

We were there just to sleep ,we were tired after a day of adventures . Very quiet ,bathrooms were clean. Wi-Fi wasn’t the best but really when your on vacation you don’t need much ,would of been nice to watch the news

Thank you for the review. we are sorry to hear the WIFI was not up to par. The host should have notified you on check in that the WIFI is just to check email and text messages. It is not strong enough to stream anything. Unfortunately were we are located there is not much signal for anything.

Good location for all we wanted to visit. Staff very friendly and helpful (laundry machines). Found that the shower floors always had puddles and dirt, and drains always had hair around them. Better drainage or heavy floor mats with drain holes could have helped with the water & dirt. Providing paper towels is a mixed bag. They would allow campers to wipe off the sink and counters after using.

The place is pretty but there was a bad sewer smell. Our RV spot where we parked the trailer was fine but the grass area was very uneven and it looked like they had taken out the fire pit and never filled it in very dangerous at night. Luckily we never drank the water as our water hose had a brownish stain stain on it and when we cleaned the hot water tank at home it was filthy

I was very pleased with our long pull through site , I loved the sites were all basically in the woods amongst trees instead of an open field . Everyone camping was spread out in the campground and the hosts were very nice and helpful, would definitely go back , the only thing I would say is don’t follow your GPS , call for the directions

Staff was helpful and checked in with us regularly. Steve was friendly. Our 3 granddaughters (age 10) loved the outlook rock. Such CLEAN BATHROOMS!! Nice shade

My only complains was that the ladiesbathroom and shower were not clean when I went into it at 7:00 in the morning. Recommend cleaning both at the end of the day before families get up and start using for the day. The gentleman that drove around on the golf cart to take folks to their camping spots was extremely friendly and helpful! Checkin was easy and the lady was very friendly.

I was blown away by the personalized assistance from Melissa planning how to get the most out of my short time in the area. Cleanliness of the facility was outstanding. The centralized location to all local attractions could not have been more convenient.

We have stayed in this campground in past years when it was "Horse Thief RV Resort" in our camper-van in the tent area with no hook-ups. We particularly like the grassy tent area. We like the change to KOA. It seems like improvements are being made to bring up the quality. During our recent 4-night stay, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the restrooms/bathhouses were well-maintained.

I've been to Horse thief campground (KOA) a number of times. The people and location are great. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area.

We made reservations in January for a specific site and were given confirmation. When we showed up in June, with no prior knowledge, we were told they gave our site away and were given a smaller inferior site with no view for the same fee. We have stayed here for 20 years, gone through 3 owners and have never been treated more rudely as this current staff. Huge disappointment. Sadly our last stay

You were moved to the site right beside where you originally were. We were unable to make new sites this summer so we had to move some people. You chose to go to an interior site with no sewer. You were notified by phone twice and we received nothing back from you. We have an amazing crew. Thanks

The campground was so scenic, I loved stepping out of my cabin every morning. My grandchildren loved the bouncy pad and spent hours on it. Everything was clean, grounds and buildings were well kept up. On top of everything else the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Our stay was amazing, this place has so many things to do! Everyone is very friendly and it’s a very beautiful campground, we have decided to make this an annual trip. Wish there was better Internet services due to working on certain days, but other than that, it was amazing!
