THINGS TO DO WHILE STAYING AT
THE FANCY GAP KOA
~Mount Airy is also known as Mayberry (the hometown of Andy Griffith). While here, be sure to check out The Andy Griffith Museum, Wally’s Service Station, Old City Jail, and Floyds Barber Shop. Downtown has several shops to explore. When you get hungry be sure to hit up Barneys Café or Snappy’s for lunch.
~ There are several wineries to choose from in the direct area or if you feel like a drive some are a bit further. Stop by our campstore for a complete list.
~ There are several things to see along the Parkway that are all within a relatively short drive of our KOA. Two of top choices are Blue Ridge Music Center – MM 213 (be sure to ask about live music) and Mabry Mill – MM 176.2 (an old working grist mill and one of the most photographed buildings on the Parkway). Remember our KOA is at MM 199.
~ While we don’t have any trails on site, there are many places to hike near our campground. Please see the staff for some ideas of where to go.
~ There are several antique shops located just a few miles from our KOA. Be sure to include Fancy Gap Pottery in your places to go.
Have lunch at the Gap Deli!
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
