We are looking for a few fun campers to help us host our first Father’s Day Camper Crawl. We hope this event will be enough fun that it’ll become an annual event. For those that have never done a camper crawl let me explain the good time that’s in store. We are asking for 5-6 “host” campers. These campers will sign up to host a quick activity/game OR some sort of fun drink or nibble. Then we need other campers to sign up to “crawl” with us. We will then grab our camp chairs and head to the first designated camper to enjoy a tasty drink or bite. Then we may head to the next camper to play a game or we may ask the camper hosting the activity to combine hosting duties and game where we nibble. It will all depend on what our host campers plan. We will ask that our hosts plan for a max of 24 crawlers including themselves. Should you sign up to host we will offer you 15% off of your Father’s Day stay with no limit on your length of stay. So the longer you stay the bigger your discount. You must call us (606-528-1534) and have us help you make the reservation to get the discount. The office is currently open 9am-6pm seven days a week. Sign up in advance to both host and crawl so our hosts can plan for the correct number of crawlers and have enough supplies for all. If you are hosting you are also a crawler too. You only host at your camper and the rest of the time you just get to sit back and crawl with the rest of the gang. Plan to spend about 20 minutes at each stop with the whole crawl taking about 1.5 hours. We will plan to crawl Saturday afternoon from 4-5:30 so that when you make friends you can continue to hang out if you’d like. Did I mention that if we get a full 24 campers there is a T-shirt involved? In the words of the band Cake, “to prove you were there, that you heard of it first.” Call us and sign up! Two free shirts per reservation. Make sure you know the sizes of both participants when you call. Sign up to host so you get your first pick to host food or activity. Sign ups will close two weeks prior to the event so there is time to print shirts.
If that is not enough fun we also got an exciting delivery this week of our custom fire rings. A bunch of sites are now graced with laser cut steel rings that are going to look so pretty with a fire blazing in them. We can’t wait to see them all aglow. If you’d like to be among the first to try them out, book a cozy cabin. https://koa.com/campgrounds/corbin/ It’s a great time to get out doors while it’s still a bit too chilly to go without heat at night. Our cabins make for a romantic way to surprise your Valentine too. If you book a cabin for Valentine’s weekend we are throwing in a bit of fun with our gourmet s’mores kit. Use it with our new fire rings or take it home with you to prolong the camping fun since it comes with its own little fire that is perfect for home use.
Can anyone relate to this next story? You know this freak cold front that has been sweeping the nation? Well, it made it quite unpleasant to work outdoors. So we looked for indoor tasks to complete. I thought, let’s really scrub the tile in the bathroom. We got this industrial scrubber that weighed several hundred pounds and scrubbed like the tile has never been scrubbed before. Like most projects, one thing led to another. As a woman, I don’t spend much time in the mens room. Fast forward to trying to plug in the scrubber and finding the outlets don’t work. While trying to see the fine details in the showers we discover many of the lights don’t work anymore. Of course we decide to fix those. Once the lights come down we decide we really should paint the ceiling before putting new lights up. If the ceiling is getting painted we really should do the walls and stalls too since they have seen a better day. Oh goodness, those new ceiling lights make the lights above the sinks look pretty unattractive so we should replace those too. On and on until we ended up with new counters, sinks, faucets, lights, shower heads, stall hardware, a comprehensive paint job and about 400 hours of labor invested into the mens room. The good news is that it looks fantastic. The bad news is that…there is a woman’s room next door that now looks pretty darn tired in comparison. We all need a week to recover. It has been 12 hour days trying to get everything complete and then we can start in the ladies room. All the guys around here are happy that for once they went first but figured it was the grand plan all along to work out the kinks where us ladies don’t spend much time. So come and see our updated men’s room with the ladies room soon to follow.
We are beyond excited to have 50 degree temperatures slated for this week and lots of sunshine. We are headed outside and hope to see you there!
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
